Linked Reservations and Dining Plan?

I'm linking 2 reservations using my points and my mothers. If I add the dining plan, does it need to be to the whole reservation or can it be to only one part of the linked reservation? I thought it had to be applied to the whole reservation. But in May when i had linked reservations, I was told since I officially still have to check out/in, I could have added it to only one part. Has anyone did this before?

If this is treated like a "split-stay", DDP had to be applied to each individual check-in/check-out segment. We had to reserve 2 DDPs for a recent split-stay trip and the meals had to be used within each segment.

That is correct. If you do the dining plan for both reservations you will have to go back to the HH to add the plan to each additional link.

If it's the same room for both reservations, I think you have to do it for both. You can only do a partial if they are separate rooms. DVC experimented with being able to do the dining plan for linked reservations in the same room and it turned into a mess. People started doing one night on, one night off and there were issues with keys working.

This is what I thought, I have to have it for all the days that are linked. Last time I had one day under my mothers membership, linked with mine and they told me I could have gotten it for just the one day. I was just checking, THANKS!

Last fall I had two reservations with two contracts. I added the dining plan to the first night. When I went to link the second reservation they added the dining plan to all three nights. Had the plan removed it from the reservation. A few days later I was able to add the dining plan to only the first night through my account. At check no question asked and even verified I was staying the same studio the entire stay.
