It seems to be hit or miss whether Guest Services onboard will officially switch passengers around or simply issue extra key cards. I’ve read reports of both over the years.

That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I’ve been doing it successfully for the last several years and never had a problem.

We are always just given extra keys. Never officially switched cabins! Sailing again in 2 weeks with our adult sons. Expecting extra keys again.

I agree 100%. But when someone on the board says to me "That's incorrect" or "You're wrong", and then provides no additional information, I'd like to get to the bottom of it, so readers can know what to expect.

If you’re referring to my answer to you that you were incorrect in stating that you can’t officially switch, you can only get key cards, then I stand by my answer. I was on the June 17-24, 2023 Fantasy cruise to the western Caribbean. We had 5 cabins & I booked DH & I in separate cabins to maximize our Pearl status. My DSIL didn’t want to deal with 2 key cards, so we went to guest services & her & I both signed a paper stating we agreed to change cabins. We were both issued new key cards with the corrected cabins on them. Hopefully that’s enough additional information for you…
