link magic band to non-expiring passes?

Sorry for yet another magic band question. This has probably been covered but I'm having trouble finding it.

We always buy and use 10 day, non-expiring park tickets. Because we only go into the parks 1 or 2 full days per trip, we can have our 10 day tickets last several years.

So, if I link these passes to our magic bands, do the days get pulled off of the passes and put on the magic bands, or do the days still exist on both the passes and the magic bands?

I'm thinking a magic band could be lost or dis-charge over the several years we keep our non-expiring passes. I don't want to take any risk of losing days.

You link the tickets to your My Disney Experience (MDX) profile, not to the MagicBands. If the MYW tickets are on RFID Cards, you can use either the RFID MYW Card or any MagicBand linked to your profile for park admission. The RFID chip contained in the MagicBand used for park admission received power from the touch point. The same applies to the RFID cards. The battery powered active transmitter in the MagicBand will be used for character interactions and interactive elements in queue lines. If the battery for the active transmitter dies, the MagicBand will still function for park admission, room entry and FP+.

The MagicBands are designed to be reused. They are linked to your MDX profile and will continue to be linked after your stay. They battery for the active transmitter is reported to last 2 to 3 years.

Yes, you could. However, the Magic Bands will be good for many years. You can bring them back trip after trip and they will continue to work because they will access whatever is in your MDEx profile at the time they are scanned.

We currently have four bands each, with another three coming by the end of the year. We just order a different color each time and save them all.

OK, I hadn't thought of it that way. I was thinking you were issued new magic bands for every visit... like you'd need new room keys.

Makes more sense that they can be re-used.

Right now they are sending a new set with every reservation. Eventually guests will be expected to bring their bands back with them trip after trip.
