Lingerie deals

Ladies, where do you find deals on lingerie? Until recently I've only purchased lingerie from La Perla. My everyday lingerie will continue to be from La Perla as there is just no matching the quality. But I realize my lingerie budget is way more than it should be. My husband joked about taking out a separate insurance policy for my lingerie chest.

Buying lingerie is my guilty pleasure. Where are the good deals on lingerie? Victoria's Secret seems OK, but they seem overrun with teenagers and loud music. I've found several sites which claim to be importers from China who make the lingerie for many places but I'm not sure how legit that is. Help me satisfy my silk and lace addiction without breaking the bank!

I don't use lace bras - they itch, and don't provide enough support for my DD-cups [which I think are growing with my bun in the oven], no matter who the designer or manufacturer is.

I have found some good quality bras at Nordstroms. Do you have one of those near you? Or maybe a Lord & Taylor - they sometimes have %-off coupons so you can save even more money!

I think VS bras are kind of crappy - not the best made and no good support. And too many puch-ups (which I totally don't need).

Gilligan and O'Malley at Target. I think these are the same folks who make the Victoria Secret stuff.

hi!! How much you you usually spend?

Well La Perla isn't cheap. A bra and panty set are about $100 - $150. Slips, camisoles, bustiers, and such are maybe $200. Garters and stockings are cheaper, but I'm always buying new stockings as I can't go a week without ruining at least one.

I also don't want poor quality. I once went into Fredrick's of Hollywood and I felt dirty just being there. Also the silk felt like sand paper.

I'm not super big up top so I can get away with items built for comfort, I don't need complex engineering structures in my bras. My main concern are the slips and camisoles. I am an impulse lingerie buyer so I need a less expensive outlet for my silk and satin fetish.

You may be able to find some stuff at Soma. I have bought bras there, which run around $40-$50. They also have pj's, not just lingerie. But not sure what kind of lingerie you like - there's is a little more conservative. Worth a try though seeing as how that is a lot cheaper than La Perla.

Um, I never think of La Perla and Williams Sonoma (from OP's other thread) as being budget-board type retailers!

If you're looking for a more budget-minded handbag, I'm sure some of us could offer aternatives to the Louis Vuitton boutique as well.

slips ???:confused3

Slips are the term used for nighties. Basically your fluttery night gowns that you sleep in that are mid thigh length. Corsets, bustiers, cami, tap pants, slips, gowns, teddy... lingerie is an art form and has many subtle differences with unique names for each.

I didn't realize the budget board was limited to Walmart and Target. I thought the goal was saving money, and both of my posts seem to have accomplished that. I saved several hundred dollars from one pot and pan tip alone, so that seems to have met the spirit of this forum.

Many other posters in the pots and pans discussion seemed to be spending roughly the same amount of money on those items too. Maybe your sarcasm can be shared in that thread as well?

Well, since this is the budget board, I will share. I get my underwear for free from Vickies. They send those coupons at least once/month. I swear I haven't bought underwear in YEARS. As for bras, QVC sells Barely Breezies. I got 3 pairs for $1 each at a special sale (live in the area). I also got 4 bathing suits for $1 each at another sale. I would NEVER spend $150. QVC's regular prices are pretty good, but I also like Vickies (yearly sale, of course).

I'm not gonna lie, I'm subscribing to see just where this thread is going ;)

Try looking at Natori. They have some nice stuff and it is sold in Bloomingdales, Saks, Nordstroms, etc. Calvin Klein makes nice sleepwear as well. Stores will have friends and family sales coming up and you can probably get 25% off. La Perla and Hanro are usually excluded.

i like natori, betsey johnson, honeydew and calvin klein for dept store brands. sometimes i get them on sale at nordies, CK you can get at a local outlet, and believe it or not i have found all four brands at my local marshalls - finding a set is hit or miss though. i buy everyday bras at VS as well, and always score during semianual. most of their lace is not itchy at all, the more pricier there the better the materials usually. the stuff in there right now is awful on the most part, the last three seasons they have really put the time and money into stepping up the quality and making it more desirable so i was sad to see the neon colors this spring. the website often has codes and a lot of the "fancy" stuff that many women shy away from like garters end up on sale as well as bustiers and teddies etc. the stockings there are often 2/$20 and i think the quality is just fine, soft and holds up well.
if you hit up the VS clearance section you may find some nice stuff for great prices, if you do they have these very sexy v-strings that are a satin type material in front and a lace v-part on the back. very comfy and super sexy, i bought one and ended up with six more pairs.
i have gotten some nice silk stuff there as well as cotton modal pjs. i found the lace at target to often be itchy and the gillian & omalley to just fall apart not quality at all. anthropologie also has very nice silk slips and nighties, i just ordered a half slip b/c believe it or not i still wear slips as an underpinning.
oh and almost forgot. areie is new to the market. i would say its cutesy sexy but find i like the sweetness of some of the stuff. i have a ton of the sexy stuff so its nice to buy just a few simple floral cotton ruffle pieces.
i would shop the stores in person first so you have a literal feel of the stores products before you try buying online. VS, aerie, nordies all do bra fittings and will often right the information down so you can pick out your size in styles and if you dont like what they have there you can hunt online for past seasons on sale. happy shopping!

I second Soma - they carry some nice brands. I do like Natori too. Bloomingdales has a decent selection too.

I agree with you OP. Some things are worth spending more on, but you want a good price too.

There is a La Perla outlet in San Marcos, TX. I found that there is La Perla at the Orlando Premium outlets too.

Natori is not something I was familiar with. They have some very bold patterns that might be just the change I'm looking for. Their pricing also is varied from $48 to $250 so I'm not sure what dictates the huge difference. It looks like if it appeared in In Style magazine they put a premium on the item. I just ordered this: http://www.natori.com/ProductDetail...entCategory=Lingerie&ISC_SubCategory=Chemises

I'll see how it works out.

Hanro is a brand I have avoided in the past due to their near obsession with microfibers. I prefer silk as it retains its comfort level with each washing where cotton and poly never feel the same after that first wash. Microfibers are best suited to clean my sunglasses, not cover my backside.
