Lingerie deals

I'm more of a Jockey girl myself. Now that we're headed into spring and summer I'll be switching to the tank tops. They sell it at the outlet mall. :upsidedow

Um, I never think of La Perla and Williams Sonoma (from OP's other thread) as being budget-board type retailers!

If you're looking for a more budget-minded handbag, I'm sure some of us could offer aternatives to the Louis Vuitton boutique as well.

that seemed to be unnecessarily snarky!

I have to admit that I am facinated by this thread, especially in the budget area. OP, I would highly recommend posting this question on the wardrobe section of the Purse Forum, as you may find more of the type of answers you were expecting.

I buy my clothing and accessores from J Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Coach and Cole Haan with a few designer pieces mixed in here and there so I am not a Walmart and Target kind of gal. Still I really can't imagine spending $150 for everyday Bra/Panty combos.

I actually buy most of my lingerie from Aerie. I buy their cotton boybriefs and Katie bras for everyday. Sometimes I buy Calvin Klein and maybe spend $75 for a bra & panty for something more special, but La Perla has never seemed worth the price to me. I would rather have an expensive pair of shoes than a pricey bra.

I like Aerie and there's a few good brands at macy's and Kohls as well. I also like to go to Fredricks of Hollywood when they are having sales. F of H has a lot of choices- they are good quality (from my experiances) and their lingerie is nice fitting for my body type, others don't care for them, but I like them.

There is a local lingerie 'boutique' I like... try some local boutique' places- they carry a lot of nice specialty things that are good quality.

Natori, and you can find it at the outlets. Natori is really nice.
Flora Nikrooz, and its on sale at Macy's Bloomies ect and you can use the coupons.

La Perla, try the outlet - call and order from there if you are not near it.

Omigod you guys. I checked out the La Perla website. You HAVE GOT to be kidding me. The OP is right when she says her husband needs to take out a seperate insurance policy on her lingere chest. DO IT! DO IT NOW!!!!!!

So I clicked on a bra.....the Florence Full Cup bra $230.00. WHAT??!!! When I perceived La Perla to be expensive lingere, I thought "Oh, okay, one of those 'good quality, good support' bras that will probably be $70.

Well after seeing $230, I nearly fainted in my desk chair.

And this is a vent, but WTH, La Perla doesn;t carry my size. Yet again, so unfair. I am very busty and of course they have the option to search by size, and my size is not even a choice. If I could afford La Perla and wanted them as an option, I couldn't. Makes me feel like the time, back in college, when I wanted to buy a bra from VS and the snobby saleslady said "we don;t carry your size." Shoot, left out again.

So, um, anyone know where to find nice, high quality bras, for ummm bustier women?

yeah, i am with you!

BUT..... am i the only one that thinks this is a really strange thread?! esp for the budget board?.....not sure this is a valid thread :confused3

Just to add a little comment. While I agree that LaPerla isn't really budget related, the cheaper brands of bras are not always an option depending on your size and need for support. I am relatively small around but with a larger cup size. The cheaper brands such as Jockey, or Hanes, or the brand sold at Target don't offer me the support I need right now, and are often difficult to find in the size I need. . A lot of the time the brands that make larger cup sizes also only make larger band sizes. In order to get lingerie that provides form and function I usually have to spend more. It is not really a splurge thing, it is more of a "you get what you pay for" thing. While I don't spend LaPerla money, I do spend anywhere from $60-$90 for a bra. I like Freya bras.

I'm a total outlet shopper when it comes to bras. Twice a year and I am done!

But I'm also a full F, so my options for brands are limited. When you stick with Lillyette and Bali it's easier.

Have you tried Walcol?

And for you naysayers, a good bra really does shave off 10 pounds. I have pictures to prove it.

If your typically purchasing La perla I have a few suggestions. Look into a Colombian Lingerie designers. When I was there I found amazing lingerie that was up to par with la perla for 1/4 the cost. Also look into custom lingerie its sounds odd but you can get custom lingerie for much less then la perla in silks and any other fabric you want. Also check the sales on Ruelala.com and gilt.com

I am the original poster. I wanted to provide an update, and really just a note of appreciation to Evi. I looked into custom lingerie. It is a slow process, but after some time found the right designer for me. I recently received my order of about 150 items. Some are out right copies of designs I've had good success with, some my own creation, and others the designers inspiration. Everything is custom made for my size, and I'm amazed at how even the slightest variations from off the rack made huge improvements in fit and comfort.

For those interested, raw materials alone were about $3000. I thought the silk would be my largest expense but it really was the various clasps, buttons, hooks and such that were my largest cost. (Other than the labor) It worked out to a final cost of about $50 per panty, $90 per bra, $260 for most of the other lingerie pieces except for one full length gown that was over the top.

If anyone wants to try this themselves, stockings are best left to the professionals. Which is a shame because the good ones are so expensive and I go through them so fast. While some of you may think $50 per panty is a bit much, I was spending $108 for my favorite collection, so this is a massive savings. The only downside is lingerie shopping is one of my great joys, and I pretty much have a years worth in one shot. I will have to take up a new hobby to fill the void.
