Lines to Avoid in the HEAT!

The fall can be hot in DLR too. They can have a hot spell any month of the year.

Yeah, dog gone it, that Ma Nature sure can experience hot flashes at any given time in Southern California.

Yikes! Already 90°F in Anaheim, according to weather channel.com

:faint:

They only line that I found truly hard to wait in during last week's heat wave was the pixie hollow line. We must have hit it just as the sun moved directly overhead, and most of the line was completely exposed. I'd forgotten to bring our sunscreen into the line, and it was time to reapply. Another person in the line was super kind and let me use her sunscreen for my son.

YES. That line is brutal in the heat! We waited 45 minutes last week and my poor toddlers face was beat red by the time we got to the front. He behaved like a champ though :)

Space Mountain? Isn't most of that line inside?

Sadly, no, not any more. The FP and standby lines merge just before you enter the indoor portion of the queue, so the majority of the standby line is outside, on the upper deck. Space Mountain, like Indy Jones, has a FP/standby merge point that results in portions of the queue not really being used for holding the line anymore.

I know this thread is about lines to avoid, but some lines that aren't bad are:

Jungle Cruise - mostly shaded
Indiana Jones - a long inside and underground queue
Roger Rabbit - If the line is really long, you'll end up outside and hot, but most of the time this line is inside and cool
Soarin' Over California - already mentioned
LMAUA - already mentioned
California Screamin' - shaded queue for a good portion of it
GRR - Same thing. Shaded queue for a lot of it

Oh yuck.

Hi, OP here writing from the DL pool. Too hot, too crowded. Never again in May! I was just told that they are considering this "peak crows" but rides are half capacity!

We just got back to PPH for a break. I think it's less crowded then yesterday for sure but the heat is not helping! My poor son was flushed in just ten min waiting for EMH this morning. We have reservations at Carnation Cafe this afternoon and hoping it will cool off a bit by then.

I was just starting to think I guess EVERY ride has a bad lineup ;) I was thinking Indy was a good one, and also Splash isn't bad, most of the hotter areas you get to keep moving through. Also, Pirates, obviously!

They are considering it peak crowds? Well that makes sense. We just got back from our trip and it was the busiest 'off season' i've ever seen. Now I know they say there is no REAL off season anymore, but I think we'll go back to our previous end of January/early February week.

I've seen Pirates spill out into the main New Orleans Square area. When it gets long, it gets hot. Splash is fine if you have a FP, but those people in line before going inside looked hot to me. I don't know for sure as I can't remember the last time I waited in the standby line for anything.

As for beating the heat in general - find an air conditioned place to eat lunch. There are lots of lovely restaurants with pretty patio tables, but that can get brutal in the heat.

I'm a big believer in heading for the hotel pool when the sun is at its peak!

In DL, head for Innoventions and spend a good amount of time in there. In CA, head for the Animation Building and do the same. Mickey and the Magical Map is outdoors but shaded. Aladdin is totally indoors.

Agree with Peter Pan. We were there last week, it was only 75, and I got hot in that line.
