Lines in Songs You Thought Were Right But Weren't!!

Oh! DH used to think that song Shameless by Billy Joel/Garth Brooks was Shavin'.

Remember that song "Bette Davis Eyes"? The line was "She's got Bette Davis eyes" but I was hearing it as "She's got better days aside." I sang it that way for probably two months before I heard some DJ say it was called "Bette Davis Eyes". I sat there going "why is it called Bette Davis Eyes.....:scratchin."...then the slow dawning of what a fool I'd been making of myself.

This thread is so funny!!:jester:

StacyA & cindysteveI feel better now 'cause i swear i thought i was the only one that heard it that wat too :teeth:

As for Louie, Louie, I heard that when the song first came out, the censors were just sure it was obscene, so they listened to it over and over and over again and could never understand enough words to yank it from the airwaves.

Wait a minute...that's not what she's saying??? I really thought it was "Average everyday, sick psycho" and then the last time, "Average everyday, sane psycho". I think it makes more sense that way:crazy:

My other contribution actually belongs to my mom. The old Police song "When the World is Running Down, You make the best of what's still around." My mother thought it was "You make the best lemon stew around.":crazy2:

Okay, I just got busted for reading this thread at work...I was laughing too loudly! The only one I can contribute is the Spin Doctor's "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"...I always heard it as "Little Miss Candy Bar"...

There's a song I hear on the radio occasionally with the line, "Can't find the better man"...my friend always sings, VERY loudly "Can't find the butter man"...

Here's one of mine...It's from The Police's "Every Breath You Take."

The real lyrics are
How my poor heart aches
With every breath you take

I used to sing
I'm a pool hall ace
With every breath you take

:p

:laughing:this thread is too cute!!

When I was in highschool my best friend's mother had a coffee table book called 'excuse me while I kiss this guy', it was full of wrong lyrics, VERY funny book! It was my favorite. (I think Dan Murphy posted a link to it)
thanks for the laughs!

tricia.

My MIL tells a story that when my DW was little and singing in church, she was singing "And He Walks With Me"...and afterwards she wanted to know who "Andy" was :)

She also swears that she first heard the song "The Girl With Kaleidoscope Eyes" as "The Girl With Colitis Goes By" :hyper:

My own: I always heard the line "to a place where blind men see" from Creed's "Higher" as "to a place where linemen sing"...I just figured it was a really happy football team:rolleyes:

Oh, and I ALWAYS sing "Shameless" as "Shavin'"...I never misheard the lyric, but a friend did and now I hear it every time I hear that song :)

When older dd was about 2, she was singing the hymn "Bringing in the sheaves" in the car, only she was singing, "Rolling in the leaves!" I guess that would make a two year old rejoice :teeth:

When the Beatles came out with Paperback Writer, I didn't pay any attention to the title of the song (or what the rest of the lyrics were) and when they got to the part where they sing "Pa-per-back Wri-ter", I thought they sang "take the last right turn" Oh, well.

Jackson Browne: Take It Easy

It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford

DH sings It's a girl, my Lord, in a BRIGHT RED Ford.. he insists this is right.
