Line Cutting

Since the ECV threads tend to get a little more heated than the conventional line-cutting threads (and therefore locked more quickly), Vegas oddsmakers have set the over-under line on this thread at 7.5.

Wench! Is that seriously what you got out of my thread? Seriously? Lol. If anything I was saying I could do without one. I can tough it out. WOW! Get a grip. Still a gigglin!

Head, do whatever you want :)! I just sometimes get the feeling that people who would get along better with ECV's, etc, don't use them because of people like the OP will make comments and roll their eyes...which is unfair to them. I also tend to get a little dramatic and soapbox-y. But I hope you enjoy your trip! Glad I was able to give you a laugh for the day :)

With your attitude you should just stay home! I am overweight, have 2 bad knees from arthritis and a bad back that I have had all my life even when I was a size 6....I can only walk short distances and can not stand more than a minute. I use an ECV which I pay for and I pay the same as you to go to Disney but I have a wonderful time with my children and grandchildren making memories!

I think the idea of the original post is that people who use the scooters out of laziness or as a ploy. I do not think the original post intended ill will to those with legitimate disabilities or conditions that prevent individuals from standing in line.

The original post is pointing out their frustration with the number of "scammer's" that use the scooters and the head of the line policy to their ill advantage. I too have seen those who use the scooters and go to the front of the line as a perk not as the way it was intended.

I agree that 95% of the time you can not tell if their is a legitimate condition for someone to use a scooter but when you see them drag racing down Main Street or the family is hanging on it as if it were a ferry, you don't need to be Dr. Vinnie Boom Botts to diagnose a fake.

My mother will be getting a scooter when we go. She is over weight - that is what you SEE. You don't see the breast cancer. You don't see the clots on her lungs that makes it impossible for her to breath. You don't know that she just broke down and bought herself a wheelchair for home because she simply can't go anywhere that requires any walking. So go away troll - go back under your bridge.

I have a question. WHat is with the people on motorized scooters who are overweight and not actually handicap? They go right to the the front of the line? This appeared to be the case on our trip.

Someone with a real disability that prevents them from waiting in line by all means go ahead. Someone that is overweight or lazy is not disabled. They should have to park theyre scooter with strollers and stand in line like everyone else.

Otherwise I may as well rent a scooter for the day and bypass all lines.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I haven't read the whole thread.

1) Being in a wheelchair or scooter does NOT provide front of the line access. Sure, people using mobility aids may appear to bypass the line (especially at MK attractions) but once we get to the holding area, we normally have to wait because there are only a few accessible cars/boats/etc per ride. CMs also will hold us to make the wait similar in duration to what we would experience if we were walking through the line.

2) Most lines at AK, Epcot, and DHS are mainstream (meaning wheelchairs and scooters go through the same line as those who are walking through). Most of the rides that have a w/c entrance are in MK, as the park was built before the ADA laws went into effect.

3) Just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they don't have an underlying disability. Medications such as steroids used to treat things like cancer, pain, or other illnesses can cause significant weight gain. Some people gain weight BECAUSE of a disability- a good friend of mine broke his hip and ended up gaining 100+ pounds because he was on bedrest for 5 months.

Try and be compassionate- I'm normally able-bodied, but my last trip had me in a wheelchair due to injuries from the Disney marathon. You can't get around the parks nearly as fast as if you were walking, people jump out in front of you, you have commments like YOURS hurled at you all day (why is she in a wheelchair, she's fine). And honestly, there's nothing pleasant about being at "fart height" all day and the majority of your scenery being someone else's rear end.

You're incorrect. There is no "front of the line policy" for those in wheelchairs or scooters. FOTL access is reserved for critically ill children on Wish trips.

Sure, you may see a wheelchair be directed to "the exit" or another entrance. What you DON'T see is waiting in a hallway for 15-20 minutes for the wheelchair accessible car to become available.

When a continuous-moving ride "breaks down" what you don't see is someone transferring from their chair into a ride vehicle, which for some people is excruciatingly painful.

Oh, and the "handicapped accessible parade viewing"- it's a total joke. You have to line up for that even earlier than a regular parade spot.

Trust me, there are no perks for being in a wheelchair all day.

Having traveled with a family member in a WC I can't imagine that many people do it for the "perks". It would take only a day - if tha -t for a "scammer" to determine they would get more done using FP and a good touring plan.

99% of the time WC users go through the regular queue and then have to wait for an accessable car. If the regular queue isn't an option then most times they have waited in an alternate area or elsewhere. It may appear to the guests in the queue that the party is skipping the line but in our experience that was not the case. Our party was larger than 6 so we split up and most of the time the WC party waited longer.

I just don't understand how some people can be so insensitive towards others.

I would say 99.9% of the time people using wheelchairs would much rather be in a position to not use them.

Bad post by the OP and I hope this thread is closed soon.

Wheelchair users not only have to wait longer for an accessible car to come around, they also have no choice where they sit in theatres they have to sit behind everone else, at the back.

when you see somebody go to the front of the line, you had better ought to be counting your blessings for yourself and not worrying about what other people are doing.

Wow, you must be psychic to know that they're "just" overweight or lazy. Health problems never cause weight gain, and all disabilities are glaringly obvious to casual observers. At least in your world, apparently. :rolleyes1

I dearly hope you never have any health problems that aren't blindingly obvious. People may treat you like you treat them. Although, that would be fitting.

The thing is, you can't know if someone has a disability or is faking it. My sister has fibromyalgia. Some days she's fine, some days she uses a cane, some days she can barely get out of bed. If you saw her on a good day, you'd never know she has any disability.

It's the same sort of argument you see when people with invisible disabilities use handicapped parking tags. "There's nothing wrong with you!" But there is plenty wrong with the ones second guessing them.

Holy cow. I haven't seen one of these zingers in a while. I hope I brought enough popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

popcorn::

When are they going to make a rule about no line cutter threads like the resort mug threads?

That would be a great idea, just add a rule about no threads about the people supposedly renting ECV's/wheelchairs to get to the none-existent front of the line access?

Why the constant need to refer to the OP as a "troll"? If you read the post carefully it is not saying anything negative about a person with either a hidden or visible disability, only about those who he/she perceives to be "scammers". The anger with which some posters use the word "troll" is just as rude and insulting as they belive the OP to be.

The OP has 9 posts. They came in with an incredibly offensive post that appears to do nothing but stir the pot.

And I don't know about you, but I think this is something incredibly NEGATIVE about people with hidden disabilities

"What is with the people on motorized scooters who are overweight and not actually handicap?"

"Someone with a real disability that prevents them from waiting in line by all means go ahead. Someone that is overweight or lazy is not disabled."
