Line Cutting

Hey, haven't had a straight-up line-cutting thread in a week or two! How about that!

Over/under line on number of pages in this thread before lockdown is 10.5. Place your bets.

We can just spice this up a little bit and add that any family who goes to a counter service restaurant and has part of the family go find and hold a table while others stand in line to order the meals, are also cutting in line. It's frequently done and many times is not a problem. But when it's really crowded and a family is standing holding their trays with food because a table is not open, it's a problem, and it's the exact same thing. It's cutting in line and it's rude.

Imo this isn't even close to being rude, it's just common sense!

During our trip last month, there were CMs at Cosmic Rays and they were not letting anyone save tables. They made everyone wait outside the seating area until the person w/ the food was ready and then they were allowed to enter. Many people were trying to argue their way past them but no one succeeded. This was on a Saturday at MK. There were people with their food who were waiting for tables so it was a good policy, IMO.

Therein lies the problem. There is a popular local restaurant where I live that people stand in line to order and get their drink. After getting their drink, they go find a table and the food is delivered to the table. It's extremely popular, fills up fast and almost always has a line to order. If anyone tries to go and hold a table, while others order, the restaurant staff will imediately tell them they have to get up. Do you not think it's a problem if people did what they were supposed to do, and are left holding their trays with food and no place to sit, while others CUT in line and grab tables without food. I'm sorry, but it's rude.

I have even less of a problem with this.

Personally, I'd rather be the one with food stuck looking for a table (been there, done that), than deal with everyone crowding around the registers/order windows.

Even during the busiest of times, I've never had an issue with being able to find a seat.

I know that there have been reports of CMs patrolling, but I've never seen this (we've eaten at Cosmic Rays on occasion, and we frequent Pecos Bill's). I guess we've just not been there during the right times. Obviously, I would follow whatever the CM said without arguing.

In our local restaurant/bar we find a table first then one person goes to the bar to order, tells them the table no we are sitting at and the food is delivered to the table. That's what everyone does, it's not considered rude!

Theoretically, there should be enough tables and chairs to seat the capacity of the restaurant. Thus, it shouldn't matter if a family of 4 has the dad order while the other 3 find a table. Everyone still gets a seat.

I've yet to see a time when there was no seating available.

Maybe I am going to upset a few. But, I always get in line and order food and drinks while my family grabs a table. To the people in line, I am sure they are glad that only one person is in front of them. It makes the ordering process so much easier. It would take longer to place the order, keep track of the kids, pay for the meal, clean up the spilled drink, etc. :confused3 I don't see it as my family is cutting in line by grabbing a table. If this offends you, then I am sorry. It just makes more sense to me.

This is more of a hypothetical argument, because you're right, it's very rare that a situation like this ever arises. On one occasion or two, we've had to walk around and search for a few minutes, but eventually found a place to sit.

To me, it depends on how crowded it is. If there are routinely no tables for those who have their food, then it's an issue and I'm glad to see Disney make the effort to prevent the table saving. One note re Cosmic Rays - we were there later in the week for a very late lunch/early dinner and there was no CM directing traffic. It must only be at peak times.

Politely catching up doesn't bother me. Holding tables doesn't either. BUT we dont go in full season. People are far crannies in heat and crowds.

Well, then you have some who would rather everyone be together because of this scenario:

Two lines. One person per line. You choose line A. The person in line B is buying a burger and fries. The person in line A is ordering 6 value meals, making it to where there were 6 people ahead of you (when you think about your food being fixed and length of time to order), rather than one.

It's impossible to please everyone all of the time.

Looks like we have almost made it to page 5. :cool1: Put me down for "over"
I bet a Turkey leg since I will be there at Thanksgiving...:lmao:

Congratulations on successfully highjacking the thread for now. ;)

DIS was so quiet there for a couple of days. Then all of a sudden, we had mug, stroller, and now line cutter threads all in one day. We just need a FP thread, and we'd be all set!

You forgot pool hopping!!:lmao:

Oh and put me in for the under on 10.5

Not accounting for rudeness and unacceptable behavior, we're advised to send one parent to be the FP runner and have the other parent get in line with the kids. Is it acceptable for the FP runner to catch up with his/her family? My very large husband would die if someone confronted him for "line-cutting." We may need to switch roles.

If you are being "advised" to do this first thing in the morning for Toy Story Mania, this won't work. Cast members stand at the entrance telling you your whole group must enter together. And enforce it as you wind around outside & get to the doorway of the building.

My opinion: if you were never in the line & you attempt to pass others, for whatever reason, you are line cutting. If you were in line & needed to leave for an "emergency" & are trying to return to your group, no.

Send your FP runner while the rest of the group uses the rest rooms, has a drink or just sits & takes in the atmosphere while waiting for the runner.
