Line Cutting

"Returning" to the line is not necessarily a problem for me.

What is a problem is when part of a group enters the line with the expectation that the rest of their party can just join them later by cutting in front of others.

Cutting in line is just that..... wrong, wrong, wrong.

And shame on those who are apathetic to it.

honestly, i was guilty once this holiday in disney. it was my first day and i had gotten my schedule all messed up, i was near having a complete meltdown and when i got our whole group to dumbo, i suddenly completely understood the phrase 'dumbo or die'.... i had my family line up and ran for fastpasses. when i came back, i had no clue where my head was :-) so i saw my family pretty close to where i could join them and i politely asked the people between them and me if they minded me joining up with my family. i think they must have seen my stressed up face, secretly relieved they weren't me or my family for that matter and they friendly made space for me to join up.
i did feel guilty though; a family member catching up because his kid had to go to the bathroom is normal for me; a fastpass runner on the other hand doesn't sit too well with me; and yet i did so. But i can honestly say that if i'd had any doubt that i'd irritated the other families, i wouldn't have joined up and simply waited at the side. But those families who were so kind really did help me over that personal meltdown moment :-)

I am glad that i have a FLATULENCE problem.

Having one person pass us to "catch up" is really no problem to me as long as they politely excuse themselves or can get by without bumping us. We spent 9 days at WDW last month and only had one person pass us to catch his family. Maybe that was because we went at RD and used FPs so we barely stood in any lines the whole trip :woohoo: .

We did run into a group of teenage girls from a dance team that wanted to ride BTMRR together. There were about 4 of them in front of us and another 10 behind us. When they started talking back and forth about moving up in line, I offered to jump ahead of THEM so they would be together, lol. They hadn't thought of that!

The only time I have an issue w/ people "catching up" to their group is at RD w/ TSM and Soarin. If you are going to get a FP first then have the rest of your group wait for you at the standby entrance or ride w/out you. IMO, you should choose the FP or the standby line, not both at once.

While I don't mind the occasional "catcher-upper", I don't do it myself. We stick together so it's not necessary.

That's pretty rude. I get that you're being passive/aggressive and trying to "punish" the line cutter. However, I hope I don't end up behind you in the event that someone tries to catch up with his/her family.

I wouldn't care.

The majority (or at least very loud minority) of the DIS would say that is cutting and that you should wait at the entrance for the runner and then get in line as a group.

I agree

When the kids were younger, I would get on line with them and my DS would park the stroller and catch up to us is line. I think that is fair and OK.

I don't get this. Are you in that big of a hurry that it's worth the 60 seconds it takes dad to deal with the stroller or get FP that you can't all wait and get in line together? Why is it ok for dad to push past the people who got in line behind you?

People say what is the big deal to let a couple people push by you....I say how hard is it to get in line as a group?

I don't have a problem with someone taking a small child out for a bathroom break, but don't get the stroller parking or FP thing. Why is your time more valuable then mine? I think I'll start letting the kids get in line and they can text me when they get near the front and I sit and rest while I wait to hear from them. I hope you don't mind me pushing past you to get to my family.

Hey, haven't had a straight-up line-cutting thread in a week or two! How about that!

Over/under line on number of pages in this thread before lockdown is 10.5. Place your bets.

It really is getting to the point where Disney needs to do something about it. People know that they won't, so they can do whatever. Time to crack down. Sure the line cutters bought their tickets, but so did everyone else in line that didn't break the rules.

Don't hold your breath on the employee's at WDW enforcing the rules. I have yet to see this happen, and we have been going to Disney for more years than I care to count. Just once I would like to see a CM do his or her job.:thumbsup2

I don't have a problem with people rejoining their family if they have already been in the line and had to leave for whatever reason. I don't consider that line cutting.

I have been in a long line with my 2 girls and one of them tells me that they have to go to the bathroom. I don't see it as line cutting. But I do get a little miffed when one person is in line holding a spot and 4 or 5 other people come to join. That means that I have to wait EXTRA time. I don't think that's fair.

6. I have NEVER seen this happen at Disney!

7. I'm just so happy to be there I don't even notice the line cutters.

hmm...I might have forgotten a few...I'll get back to you.

You have catching up and cutting in line, two very different things. I do believe the new "Get me to the front of the line is" I have to catch up with my family, when the family is no where to be found.

As long as you're polite about getting by and your kids are well-behaved, I really don't care.

For all I know, you had a genuine reason (not laziness) for not being in line. I can only control my thoughts and actions. I'll choose to believe the best of you and not let it irritate me.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not a push-over, and I often times do have short fuse. This is just not an issue that really bothers me.

2 situations on my last trip in March. First was a Mom trying to get back to her family. She politely asked to pass. No problem.

Same day a pushy woman yelling: "let me through!" and "move outta way" (along with some not nice words). Guess who did not get through me ;) She was MAD too!

Oh well, too bad, so sad ;)

I think that about covers it! :thumbsup2

I don't have a problem with a parent and child returning from the restroom. Or even one person getting in line with there group, whether they were in line to begin with or not. I personaly don't have a problem with a family getting in line and a fast pass runner joining them.

My problem is with one person running ahead to get in line and then the rest of the group/family of 5 or so joining them. Thats where the problem is too me.

The 8 to 10 in a group that feel they have enough momentum to keep moving up in line truly do drive me crazy and I really wish there was an acceptable way to stop those groups from advancing any farther short of trying to find a CM. Unfortunately, all methods to stop these offenders just wind up causing additional stress and grief for all those in line. [how about a waiting room at the end of the line where you have to stand and wait until the rest of your party makes it legit through the line!]

It's not that I feel those 10 people will be a huge delay in when I get to ride, its just downright rude and it sends a negative message to the children with families that are waiting patiently in line.

Also - my vote is that if your family wants FPs, then you wait until your runner returns before getting into line.

I feel that the only really acceptable reason for leaving your party and trying to reunite in line is bathroom emergencies because - let's face it - you can ask until your child if they need to go the bathroom before you get in line and they will say no...until your in line.

The Key is being POLITE when trying to reunite with your family in line...that will get you a long way!:)

No one wants to make a scene in a line, especially when your children are there, because life is too short and Disney is supposed to be the happiest place on earth. Cast members assigned to the attractions just need to start watching more closely, and politely telling anyone attempting to pass some one in line, to go to the back of the line.

Not accounting for rudeness and unacceptable behavior, we're advised to send one parent to be the FP runner and have the other parent get in line with the kids. Is it acceptable for the FP runner to catch up with his/her family? My very large husband would die if someone confronted him for "line-cutting." We may need to switch roles.

Yes it would be considered cutting. DH is also our FP runner. We wait at the entrance and enter together.
