Line cutting at Soarin'. Does this still happen?

Our last spring, while my DH parked the stroller, I went and got FP's for Soarin' and then waited outside the standby line for the family to join me and THEN got into line.

However, there were no less than 6 people who got the FP's got immediately into line. Then their families pushed past my family in the standby line to join the "runner" in the front of the standby line. It was all, many people, joining one person.

This happened TWICE last trip, both mornings I went to Epcot at opening.

I've noticed since Soarin' has been opened that they have changed what happens at opening. When it first opened there weren't CM's walking to the attraction, just alot of people running.

I did write a letter to WDW expressing my dismay at the number of line cutters so I was wondering if anything changed.

There is a word missing in the above statement, but I assume you mean that NOW, CMs walk guests to Soarin' following the Epcot rope-drop.

This is standard procedure now on most days at all the parks in the mornings. CMs will walk guests from the rope-drops to some of the major popular attractions (no running allowed.)

As far as people "holding" a spot in a queue for members of their group who are off doing who-knows-what... this can happen at any of the attractions.
It has been a topic for debate on this board for years.

I have seen it occasionally, but don't consider it (in my personal experience) to be of such large proportion that it can ruin my day.

But with millions of guests in queues at various times throughout the year, anything can happen... and if it happens to you, it can be very aggravating.

This isn't restricted to Soaring, and not just at FP attractions. You'll find that happens (fortunately not frequently) at just about any attraction. Until Disney sees fit to stop this, you'll have to take it upon yourself not to let people go past you in line. Once they learn that it doesn't work, they will stop.

In my opinion, it is not a guests right or responsibility to stop people from passing in line. Only Disney can decide if this practice is okay or not. If they are not stoping it then perhaps they are condoning it. Not my call to make Disney's rules

IMO.... I don't stress about it. Let the wacko's go...they'll miss half the ride anyway!! :lmao: :lmao:

Just enjoy the moment and savor the wait and the anticipation of.....it'll be your turn soon, smelling those pine trees through the forest, Ah..the aroma of orange groves, the wind of the sea and seeing Michael Eisner hit a golf ball to you!! :woohoo:

Rode Soarin' 4 times in a row last week, between 9:30 & 12...
....just heavenly :cloud9:

We had this happen on Safari ride at AK. It was a foreign tour group of at least 50 people. Some of the adults and teen agers ran ahead of our family and the rest of the group adults and such just followed. I was floored.

Funny I think the cm must have witnessed this. When they got to the front of the line the cm put their entire group aside and said I want to make sure you are all together to ride. They had a them wait for at least 5 cars.

Illogical.

If the "cutting" guests take it upon themselves to make their own rules about the queues, then any other guests can decide whether they want to allow those guests to impose or not.

Believe it or not line cutting is EXTREMELY popular at It's a Small World!!! Guess pipples can't WAIT to get stuck on that ride!!:dance3:

Okay - I can see your logic. Lets follow it to another situation. If I see a car on the freeway speeding and I want them to slow down because they are breaking the rules should I be able to speed up, catch them, pull in front of them, and then slow them down to the proper speed? I think guests taking responsibility for enforcing rules is dangerous and not their job. If you are unhappy about a family joining a member of their group in a que line tell a CM, its their job to decide if the family is doing anything wrong.

If you relate a car speeding past you on the highway to someone pushing past you in queue, so be it.

You are free to allow any and all line-cutting past you, if you like.

I'm free to stop it if I like.

Oh I so agree! A family found this out at BTMR 2 members ran ahead and then expected the other 5 to cut through the line and join them. Well it worked until they got to our family! We would not let them thru but said the 2 in front could come back, eventually they did. Sorry but 7 people is 4 cars and if they are the last 4 cars on a train that means my family waits till the next rain and you never know what can happen while waiting for another train. Is it so hard to make sure your whole group is together when you start a line?

This happened with us also on BTMRR. DW16 and I were in line and this teenage girl, 15 or so, ended up in front of us as we started into the line. Well, her group of 5-6 friends were right behind us but without DS knowing what I was doing I just stood beside him. You know how narrow the walkway is. They could not get by. First girl kept calling for them to come on up there with her but they could not get past us. Finally, she joined her friends behind us. I have to admit though that the group of friends were not trying very hard to join her. I think they understood it was wrong.

I guess my thought on this is that it really doesn't matter. Soarin' or any other Disney Attraction is going to be there at the end anyway. I have to laugh at the people who almost run into It's Tough to be a Bug because some other family is taking their time to see all the carvings on the way in. 95% of the time, the family in a hurry will be in the same darn show as the family who took their time and enjoyed things just a bit more. The only time line jumping has bothered me when when my husband was in a wheelchair in the queue for Malestrom and a bunch of people were trying to get to their party in front of us. There was no room for the lagging people to pass and they just about tried to climb over my husband. When I politely told them that they would responsibile for any physical injuries due to their actions, they stayed behind us.

It's just not a big deal. I'll bet Soarin' is going to be there the next day and the next day and the next day.

However, I may not be there the next day or the next day.

And it is "no big deal" PER SE, but if you consider that the line jumpers think that they CAN take advantage, because nobody will speak up or otherwise STOP them...

I just may speak up and/or STOP them, if I'm in the mood.

If everyone takes the time to stop at least one line-jumper a day, that might make a little difference.

All together now...

Oh dear, this is my pet peeve, but from the other perspective. It drives me crazy when people block the walkway along the tree. As much as the tree is an attraction unto itself, if you want to stop and take a picture of every member of the family with each animal carving, please let people who are just heading to the preshow area go by.
As far as line cutting, it is obviously wrong and annoying but it doesn't bother me much. I remember waiting in line at Snow White for an hour with DD3 who had to get out to go to the bathroom. :scared: DH stayed in line while I took her to the bathroom and we met him in line again when it turned a corner. Technically we were cutting, but I wasn't going to give up that hours worth of progress.

This is NOT what we're talking about.

If the 15 year olds need to "potty," they can do it before they get in line.

The line-cutters that are the culprits are the ones who "fake" the "re-joining their party up ahead."

We had a woman in front of us in soaring whose family had gone to Test Track to get fast passes while she waited in line. She kept calling them on the phone and they showed up when we were at the front of over a 30 minute line. Of course they were complaining about the rude people who did not want to let them through. A few people in line said something to them and the woman got very nasty about it. I think that type of thing should not be allowed.

We also saw a family pushing through the line, all the way to the front, yelling "Sue, Sue--" as if someone they knew was waiting for them. Watched them go right to the front with this tactic, and they never did find the phantom Sue.

If someone is cutting in front of you, I think you have every right to point out to them where the line starts.

I'd sue 'em!

if you want to strech the rules and try to use a runner to cut in line, then I get to strecth the rules and punch you in the throat, knock you to the ground and kick the teeth out of your head... after all fair is fair.
