Lindas Journal - 2-29-2008.. BEWARE EDIETS!!

Hey, Linda!

I agree w/ Marie, you have been doing GREAT don't let one day get you down! It is really good that you have gotten back to logging your food. I think that helps a lot! I know that is what I need to do as well, but I just can't motivate myself to find the time.

You have been doing AWESOME on your exercise as well!! :yay: :yay: I don't care that you broke your 60 minutes into two 30 minute sessions!! 30 minutes on the Stairmaster is STILL SuperHuman to me!! :teeth:

Keep up the good work!! :sunny: Have a great week!

Wow, I havent had time to check in for a few days. I have been adding in my exercise tho so I dont forget. I'm doing good on exercise, not so good on food! Since I failed the chip challenge do I just start over? :confused3 Or should I try something else?

Today I was soooo tired. The 4am wake up got to me badly and I have another tomorrow. Next week I have a mid again too. I had traded out of it but my guy backed out on me :guilty: I dont think I can get out of this one. Darn job! Its girls nite out on wednesday too and now I wont be able to go!

We are cautiously optimistic that the election results will help us out at work. :thumbsup2 I sure hope so, I'm getting so tired!

Later!

:hippie:

ok...how bad did you fail on the chips? was it a one time thing, or are you a repeat offender. i'd say if it was a one timer, then you're ok. if it's a repeat issue, well...we're not going to hang you for it or anything! heck, i had chips and salsa one day not even thinking they were considered "chips"!! but it was a one time thing...so it's ok....right?

hope the election went your way...good luck!!!

GO CARDS!!!!!!! :woohoo:

I was so depressed about the game! I'm better now, but it was sad. :guilty:

Anyway, I failed badly on the chip thing. :rolleyes1 I dont want to try that again right now, just take my punishment and go! I need a boost so I'm gonna try no carbs for awhile, 3 or 4 days and then try to get back on track. I dont want to hear any fuss about it. I'm gonna do it, Ive gone this route before and I know it will work. Of course, doing that I cant have chips anyway! :thumbsup2

Exercise has been really pretty good tho. I didnt get any last night or the night before because of work and the game, but every other day I have gotten at least 45 mins. cardio. I want to start adding in strength training too. :goodvibes

I did this questionaire at www.realage.com it was very interesting. It asks you all kinds of questions about your health and lifestyle, and then sends you results of your "real" age. Mine came out about a year younger than I am, which I took as good, I think because I dont drink or smoke put me in that range. It also sends you a plan to improve your real age. Mine said to add in strength exercises and fruit. It then has other surveys to do after you make changes, etc. What can I say, it was very thorough, and I'm kinda OCD about stuff so I liked it. You know....heres the problem...fix the problem...

I have been doing my stairmachine while watching tivoed shows. Tonite I watched Ugly Betty (which I love). Anyway , the strange minutes of exercise are because I fast forward thru the ads and it depends on how good I do at stopping at the right time, results in the total mins I have. Anyway, tonite I tried doing it a little differently, I decided while I was fast-forwarding I would go really really fast on the stairmachine. It was really hard to do, by the time I was done I was pooped! So thats a good thing!

Wish me luck...I need lots of it!

:hippie:

I decided to give myself a weight loss challenge. 15 lbs by The end of december. I know that will be very hard with the holiday food, but I'm gonna try!

Off to do some strength training!

Sorry to hear about the game. I'm glad you're feeling better now though.

Isn't the realage questionnaire fascinating? When I took it, it said I was a bit younger too, but I didn't take the next step of using some of their suggestions to make some changes. Good for you for giving it a whirl! Good luck on your weightloss goal by the end of the year. If you're able to lose weight during the holiday season, you're my idol! Have a great week!

I really thought the realage thing was very cool. I think I am gonna do a couple more of the questionaires and see what else it says. :thumbsup2

I'm going to vent/whine/cry.....or something now. :guilty: Actually none of those terms are quite right. My boy Kev has been having stomache pains for a couple of weeks now. I really didnt take it serious at first. You know, kids get stomachaches. Anyway, it has been every day...real bad pain in the afternoon. First I took him off milk. I thought it might be that he couldnt tolerate dairy anymore, since hes grown up. And he drinks milk several times a day. So he tried that for a few days, I even bought him some soy milk but that didnt help. So I called the dr on sat. to try to get him seen. They couldnt fit him in, so I told them his symptoms and they said it sounded like gallbladder and told him to stop eating fatty foods and take some tums. Well, he took tums and immediately barfed. But it did sound like it was gallbladder so he went without any fatty foods to see how that worked. It didnt. Saturday night he was doubled over in pain and sweating. He actually fell asleep at 8pm, I think from the stress of the pain. Sunday afternoon while I was at work he says it was just as bad.

So I took him to the dr today, thinking gallbladder still and they check his symptoms and run some tests. Now they think he has an ULCER! They arent sure yet but thats what they think. They gave him prevacid and he has to drink mylanta before every meal and see if that helps, and he has to go to a gastroenterologist for some more tests. When they took blood for the test he got relaly dizzy and almost passed out. It was strange, I mean they hardly took any blood, so it was wierd. He has also lost 10 LBS in 2 weeks. Let me tell you he doesnt have it to lose. But by tonite he was eating again and said it only hurt a little. The dr said if its an ulcer it may just take a couple of weeks to heal and he wont have to stay on the medicine.

Ok that was my little story of the day.

I am doing good on exercise, but I wont get any on wednesday because I have a day/mid turnaround. I tried and tried to get out of it but theres officially now NO HOPE.

Did you guys see the thread on the CB of the 86 year old woman? You should check it out......search....shes 86......makes me feel like a total loser :sad2:

nite!

:hippie:

:grouphug: let us know how everything w/ kevin turns out. I'll be thinking about ya!

also, sorry to hear about the work schedule...i don't know how you manage it!!

marie

So sorry to hear about your son. :grouphug: Do let us know how he is doing. I'm glad to know it may not be anything too bad. We're thinking about you!

Kev was much better today, he said the medicine works really well, so thats good. :thumbsup2

Work was bizarro today. I actually told a pilot it was a "cluster". We had planes all over the place, and the old "running the FAA like a business" bit us bad. All our data comes on cables. Our telecommucations, all the interfacility data and basically all the computer based stuff. And we were replacing those cables today. By contracters. Yep...we lost everything. I cant tell you how much fun that was! But I'm sure we saved money by doing it that way! :rotfl2:

I got my exercise in...see how good I'm doing! :goodvibes I havent lost any weight lately but I think I'm on the verge! I can feel it! I need to do my strength execises still but I'm gonna turn in early cuz tomorrow will be heck. (double shift)

We have a new "saying" at work. its "Wow, Thats Fantastic" We sat it whenever the FAA does something stupid. We decided it was better than ***. :rotfl:

Glad your kev is feeling better! Hopefully the thing will fix itself!!

Also, I LOVE YOUR NEW SAYING!! I'm going to "borrow" it for a while. It might keep me from getting fired....not that I care, but Christmas is around the corner!!

Get some rest girl...you work to darn hard!!
marie

YES! I LOVE your new saying!! Only, I may have to use it more than just at work...like with certain family members, neighbours, and......;)

Hey, Linda! How's it going?

Hope Kev is feeling better!!

Love the new work slogan! I really need that one. In a meeting w/ my supervisor the other day she said she was going to read my files to help ensure that I don't get too far behind. I just laughed at her. Yeah, that's helpful. When she reads the files she makes a list of everything I did wrong and need to fix. Yeah thanks. "Wow, that's Fantastic" Hmm.... I think that will work

You've been doing great on your exercise! Keep up the good work!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! :sunny:

OMG Linda!!! I used your saying today!!! It probably saved my job....not sure if I wanted it too or not!!!
Anyway....I was supposed to get off work at noon...dh and kids were picking me up and we were hitting the road right away. So, I tell Finance Mgr.....we'll call him RICHARD....that the deals HAVE to be in the office and posted by noon today! He smirks and says ok. Well at 11:58, as I'm cleaning off my desk the GM from hell....we'll call him DICK...brings up 3 deals to be posted so the salesmen can get paid on them. I looked at him and gritted my teeth and said....WOW, That's Fanatastic DICK....I really appreciate you waiting until the very last possible minute to bring these too me.
He just looked at me. I then said....Oh, have a nice Thanksgiving....hope you don't choke or anything! :furious: :furious:
yes, i know...i'm mean....but he's an @$$!!

anyway, i got them done and we got on the road about 30 minutes later than planned. DH wanted to "talk" to him, but I said no....
Oh...DICK had asked me to order some supplies for him....yeah....didn't happen....might not happen til next week....we'll see!!

Have a great Thanksgiving Linda!

5 days.....not acceptable.....where are you??!!

:confused3

OMG...Its been ages! I have been so far down the toilet you wouldnt believe it! My mom bailed on thanksgiving the weekend before and I had to do it myself! No big deal, but I wasnt prepared! My house was a mess and it took every minute I was home last week to get it acceptable. And to make it worse.....work was crazy busy and we were crazy short-staffed. A supervisor actually plugged in to help out ( ) and ran like 7 airplanes into restricted airspace. He cant work any positions now (or supervise) until some big-whig okays it. I actually feel kinda sorry for him, he was trying to help.

Anyway, had 12 people for thanksgiving, and considering I cant really cook, it was marvelous. I ordered a turkey from Jucys which is a barbeque joint. It was smoked and it was to die for! I will never cook turkey again! I also made green beans, mac n cheese , sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls. Mom made the pies and cookies. We had a good time and it didnt feel like I was stressed AT ALL. However when I woke up on friday every muscle in my body hurt. So I didnt get my lights put up on friday. No biggie, we could do it saturday right?

Except UK was playing Tennessee. We were just gonna peek at the game once in a while while we were putting up the lights. But it looked like UK might actually win, so we got sucked in. They didnt , of course, but it was looking good for a while. Then of course Louisville played, and we had to watch that game (we won again!) So the lights still arent up. Oh well.

Kevin is doing much better now, the medicine works like a charm. He is gaining back the weight he lost. I am too , havent checked the damage yet, I am afraid of the scale this week. I also havent had time to exercise at all, which sux cuz I was doing so good!

I just wanted to add the pic above is of colin, who last year was so sick we all thought he was gonna die. He was born with 2 holes in his heart and also a digestive disorder that didnt allow him to digest food. He was only 8 lbs at a year old and all shrivelled and sickly. He first had surgery for his stomach, and that almost killed him, but they wanted him to be able to gain weight before the heart surgery. When he was finally at almost 10 lbs they did his heart surgery, and within a few weeks he was remarkably better, and now hes 3! And you couldnt tell him from any other 3 yr old! (also he looks just like my Kev did at that age, his mom even gave him the same "do"!)

Hey, Linda! Just checking in! Hope all is well!

Precious kids! How amazing about Colin! What a blessing!

Take care! "see" you soon! :thumbsup2
