Well here is my first post to my new journal. :flower:

I am 44 years old and need to lose 55 lbs. I have tried all sorts of diets in the past, lost and then gained. I want to concentrate on exercise and just eating healthy.

Yesterday I went to the track for the first time in about 5 years and walked 1.5 miles. I felt pretty good.

Today I went back to the track and walked the same distance but jogged a small amount.

Well I feel pretty good, I hope I can keep this up and lose the weight.

Tomorrow is work and I think I will rest from the track and go back Tuesday.

It's Aug 1st and I went to the gym with Kelly (DD) after work today. I liked it and I think I will join. I did 18 min. on the bike and then did some exercise machines. There was a scale there so I officially weighed in ( I can't bear to even see it in writing) but am determined to lose this time. I joined the 5 for August challenge so I will go by that weight as my starting point.

Tomorrow back to the track!! :teeth:

Congrats for taking that first step!! The hardest part is making the decision to get started. You'll find that exercising will increase your metabolism & help make your goal that much more attainable. I'm 47 and want to lose about 45 more lbs. before I hit my goal. Its been one day at a time for me.

Thanks for the encouraging words. :flower: Tonight I walked 2 miles in about 37 minutes.

Hi! I'm Erin. I'll be 44 in October. We gals in our mid-40's have to stick together! :p Welcome to the WISH! Later this month I'll celebrate my 2nd anniversary on these boards--it's made an incredible difference in the healthy way I treat myself. You've come to the right place for your own personal journey. Congrats on joining the August challenge. . .slow and steady wins the race.

Have a good walk today!

Erin

Hi Erin,
You're right we have to stick together. Today I did not do so well though...
Although it is my 23rd wedding anniversary, I just ate a wonderful steak dinner my DH cooked for me on the grill, and we are going to my sister's for cake and fruit salad. I also have not exercised in three days but tomorrow I am going to the track. I have to get back into it!

Hello Lindamary!! Welcome to WISH!!! You've got the right mindset...you just need to do it. Eating healthy never worked for me, in my experience. I had to go out and find a plan that I liked. But whatever works for you! Make sure to drink your water, okay?

As long as you enjoyed that steak dinner, and dessert, you did well. Today is a brand new day...whatcha gonna make of it?

And a cheer to brighten up your new journal!!
:cheer2: LindaMary's doin' it!
:cheer2: One day at a time
:cheer2: For great success and healthiness
:cheer2: She's doin' just fine!
:cheer2: Drink your water, exercise
:cheer2: Eat well too!
:cheer2: Success will be before your eyes
:cheer2: Good luck to you!

:wave2:

Welcome - you have come to the right spot - and Congrats on your wedding anniversary!!!!! We are here to encourage you and for you to vent to someone when needed (we all need it once in a while). Eating healthier and exercising is a good plan to go with - as well as drinking lots of water!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Thanks everyone!

Tonight I went to the gym and did 20 min. of the bike and a few of the machines. I just joined so I'm not familar with all of the equipment but Thursday I have an appointment with a personal trainer. :cheer2:

I had a chef salad for lunch and 1/2 a tuna sandwhich and a banana  for dinner. Today went pretty well. :flower:

Oh and according to the scale at the gym I lost 1.5 lbs. this week. Not great but I'll take it! :teeth:

That weight loss of 1.5 pounds IS great!!!! BRAVO on that and keep up the good work!

Keep on
Chris

Well I haven't posted for awhile since I have been on a business trip to California and now we are leaving for Bethany. I will take lots of walks on the beach and try to eat smart.

Weigh in at the gym next week!

Well I ended up gaining 2 lb. on vacation and I didn't make my 5 fo August challenge. Oh well, I will try to make Sept.

Today I went to the gym and worked with a personal trainer. We came up with a good workout plan. Today I did 30 min. of cardio and 30 min. of circuit weights. I am like jelly now :rotfl2: but I feel good. :teeth:

Today I joined WW! Hopefully I will stick to it this time and lose weight. My Dr. called today and said I have high cholesterol and need to change my diet. He is giving me 6 months to improve or I have to take medication. YUK!

You are on a good track. Getting some exercise in will definitely help with the cholesterol as will changing your diet as much as you can and WW should help you do that. You are doing great, even if you had a small gain. You got right back on track!!!!! Great job.

Keep on
Chris

Thanks Chris! You are doing great too, I see you have lost for Sept. already! :flower:

I have been doing very well since I joined WW last Thurs. I was worried about the weekend but sailed through without a problem! I even had some wine Fri. night.
Today I went to the gym and had a good workout. I still need to drink some more water (that is a problem for me) but I will work on it.

First weigh in on Thursday! :flower:
