Hi:

Has anyone used David Cleator Lincoln Town Car Service? We were leaving the Boardwalk this October and Tiffany Town Car was 25 minutes late. David Cleator handed us his card and said if we had hired him we would not be waiting for our transportation to the airport. I'm just curious, has anyone used his service.

Top notch, I know David Cleator, he is very professional with many years of experience. No worries, you will be very happy I'm sure. His phone number is 407-761-2633, I know you have his card, just wanted to mention his number for others.

Sorry, to hear your experience with Tiffany. We have used them several times and they were wonderful. Curious as to the reason they gave for being late. (if you don't mind me asking)

Several things....did TT ever tell you why they were late? With all the moaning and groaning (sorry you guys in the business) about DME taking away customers, I would think the towncar companies would be falling all over themselves to give better than good service. Just curious as to what the reason was.
Second...what was the other driver doing? Hopefully he was there waiting for his guests to come out. I would hate to think there was someone just hanging around. Or, that they had heard TT was going to be late and was trying to drum up business.
No need for anyone to get all in a twist here (Edd, yaya)..just playing devil's advocate. I'm sure all was on the up and up.

David Cleator drives a town car for Mears Transportation. He probably shouldn't have been soliciting on a Mears taxi stand at WDW. More than likely he was waiting for his own passengers if he is working still for Mears.

There are a number of drivers that will do that if they see a chance to gain a ride. I don't think that is a top notch move on other drivers or companies.

I am still curious as to the reason given for Tiffany being late. Not only have we always had good communication with them....they have always been early. We have used them for WDW and DCL.

More than likely it was an isolated incident involving traffic. Drivers are well aware of the gypsies out in the world waiting for a driver not to show up on time. No one is late on purpose.

If you didn't personally witness how that situation occured, I suggest you phone Mr. Cleator and ask him, that way you can give a more intelligent response.

I don't have to call anyone to know what is happening. The town car was there to pick up his passengers, otherwise he shouldn't be there looking for passengers. It is a Mears taxi stand. If the lady was stressed out than he should have probably helped her by suggesting the cabs on the stand if she was running late, assuring her that she would be okay with the remaining time or maybe offering his cell phone to call Tiffany and find out what is happening. It is obvious he couldn't give her a ride because he had his own passengers to pick up.

No, the driver took advantage of the Ladies' stress by telling her if they had hired him they would not be waiting for transportation. That is not a cool statement, as it tends to add more stress to the situation, obviously aggravating the ladies' attitude with Tiffany. He couldn't offer that because he is not listed on the net or at the airport as a vehicle-for-hire. His rides go through Mears or Mears rides become a part of his personal base after he picks them up the first time.

Like I said before any driver can be late and it is what they or their company does to make ammends with the passenger that makes the difference between good and bad companies.

And that, my friends, is a good reason to head back to the airport at least 2 1/2 hrs before flight departure!!! There can be the occasional traffic incident, or just heavier than normal traffic. Most towncar services will tell you that you will be fine being picked up 2 hrs before but that's just not enough time.

I'm sure Edd is right. He didn't say that this particular driver was looking for a fare. I'm sure the driver was there for his own fare. But, he could have been more helpful than just handing the guest his card, telling her that she would have been better off with him. An offer to call TT to make sure all was well would have been nice and gone a long way to his looking terrific to a possible future fare. Not a big deal...don't think he did anything 'wrong' but could possibly handled it a bit better.
