We are a group of 11 people with lots 'o luggage and one 77 yr. old woman. I was planning on using DCL transportation from MCO but a family member said that the limo service to the port would be cheaper.

Even if it is cheaper, isn't it easier to go with DCL transportation? If it's better which limo service do you recommend?

You have no idea what a headache I'm getting with so many family members giving me "advice". But the final word will come from this board of really smart travelers.

Thanks in advance!!!

I travelled with a group of 60 in January and 12 of the passengers took Happy Limo to and from Port Canaveral. They loved them and even slurged and rental a hummerzine! That is basically a hummer stretched with a big screen tv and tons of seating. Another van follows behind you with your luggage. They said it was like their vacation began at the airport and still rave about it! Their website is happylimo.com and the rates were quite good especially when prorated over 8 people. If you have any men (or boys) travelling in your group this is a major testosterone boost! :p

Most of the limo companies will also stop at a store for you where you can pick up last minute items, such as snacks or drinks to bring onboard. With DCL you also have to wait for your bus to fill up before they leave I think. I would rather get right in the limo and go. Have fun.

I HIGHLY recommend FL Tours. Andy is wonderful and do everything in his power to make your transfers as painless as possible. I can't say enough about him and all the trouble he went to on our behalf (getting us a different vehicle, because HE thought it was too small for us --we thought it was fine, etc.). Give FL Tours a try, call Andy and you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the quick replys! I was expecting to hear good things about DCL buses instead of limo service.

How does the price compare? And are you sure there would be no trouble with luggage? I don't want everyone to have to drag suitcases all around.

The hummer limo sounds awesome!!! Yes, there will be 3 young single men with us who would probably LOVE to be in that thing! (maybe even my DH would like it too)

Not sure how helpful this is but I was just looking at the rates posted on Happy Limo's site.

The Hummerzine holds 20 people and for round trip transportation the rate is $640. So that makes that vehicle $58 per person.

They have a 14 passenger Excursion you could rent for $490 divided by 11 people would make it $44.50 per person.

You could look at renting combos of limos and town cars too.

I don't even rememebr what the current Disney transfer price would be.

If you book through an limo company you would have the advantage of having a grocery stop.

And you have the option of getting to port at whatever time you specifiy as opposed to "waiting" for Disney transport.

I'll be taking a limo from FL Tours on Saturday, and I just got off the phone with Andy. He said their driver will be waiting at the baggage claim when we arrive, holding a sign with our name on it. He'll take our luggage to the limo, which will be right outside the door. And off we go!

I can't imagine that DCL buses could be any easier than that. The price is about the same, I think. If we had chosen a van for the 6 of us instead of a limo it would have been quite a bit cheaper than the bus.

We used this in February and it was awesome! There is a van that follows you that holds all your luggage and the hummerzine has a plasma TV and great sound system. This is a must for a large group ~ the men were in their glory!!!!
:teeth:

We took a towncar service and I have to say that I do not regret it at all! And as a matter of fact we will do it that way from now on. But I do have to say that we were lucky and had booked our own version of the Land and Sea package and had the transfers included (but the reservations agent told us that they would be refunded after the trip) so they took our luggage from the hotel room and they were delivered to our ship stateroom. Otherwise we would have been lugging them around all day. That is the only downfall I can see.

We were able to take a limo both ways for our cruise in Sept....and I also don't regret it at all...It was wonderful. Although depending on how much luggage everyone has...even a stretch limo may not be big enough. We (party of 4) filled the trunk and overflowed our luggage into the front area with the driver. I know that cost wise...on average if you have 4 or more people it pays to go either towncar or limo....With your crowd the hummer or excursion may be a good size.

We went with Southern Elegance transportation/limo...Adam the owner was AWSOME...I can't say enough good things about him. He picked us up personally, on his day off...because one of his drivers was ill.

When we cruise again...we won't go any other way. it was Great.
