Limited availability at CR April 4-5?

Well we finally decided on April 4 and 5 for our 2008 travel dates (based around the rumored P&PP dates). We want to stay at the Contemporary...DH wants Tower MK view, Mom wants Garden Wing...when I went to book the dates only Tower MK view shows as available, and when I typed in April 4 through April 10 (just out of curiosity) NOTHING was available at all for this resort!

For curiosity sake I typed in the dates for Easter Weekend for CR and I had my choice of rooms available including Garden Wing!

In checking around at some of the other resorts for the dates I want, it appears there is limited availability of rooms elsewhere as well. April 4 is nearly six months out and it is supposed to be lighter crowd-wise than Easter...could everything really be booked up already at CR for that week or is it possible they are holding the rooms for some reason? I've never booked a trip this far in advance so I'm clueless...but it just seems rather odd there would be almost nothing available at CR for April 4 & 5 when during the busier Easter weekend I can have my pick of rooms.

Thoughts anyone?

Not necessarily, because CR is a convention resort. It could be there is a convention holding a block of rooms right now. Closer in, some of that inventory may be released back out to book. I've run across this many times trying to book rooms at CR. It seems to happen more there than at any of the other convention hotels, especially now that the total number of rooms has been reduced (due to the demolition of the north wing).

I'm ol' school, I like Disney from the Contemporary view.
Lookin' at Cinderella's Castle early in the morning from the balcony is a great feelin'.

You can try calling Disney too. They will have a different inventiry of rooms to work with. Each package/room only has a set number of rooms available per view.

Thank you everyone for your input. I'm hoping that it is just a convention booked and that at some point other rooms will open up. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and book the one MK Tower view room that we want and hope for some Garden Wing rooms to open up later on for Mom. If not, I can always add her to our room...I think it's around 25 extra dollars per night to do that.

Remus, I agree with you about the view of Cinderella's Castle from the balcony!

DH has a convention at the CR from March 30-April 2. They have told him in the promo literature that we can book at room at the "convention rate" for several days before and after the meetings, so that may be the problem.

We won't get the program, etc until January and have to book rooms by the middle or end of February, so there might be some opening up then.

I would also agree that there is some type of convention which is blocking a lot of the rooms.

I tried to see what was available if we switched from POR to CR and there was nothing available in November 08

The cm told me to call back in a couple weeks and see if anything opened up. She said it looked to be that rooms were being not released yet.
