Lime Green Ribbon?

I'm pretty new here so forgive the stupid question. Is the idea to have a lime green ribbon tied to you or your stuff and look for others with them so you can introduce yourself?

We are leaving Saturday morning. I'm a strange combination of sad, nervous and incredibly excited. I'm saying a few prayers and will just hope Denver airport gets clear of snow (we're flying through there), United stays in business and doesn't cancel our flight, and after a long day of flying cross country we safely arrive and can skip tv and newspapers and have a magical week.

I started planning this trip pretty late but with all the help here I have a great set of plans! You are all awesome! I hope to meet some of you on this trip. Maybe I'll see some of you at the parks, Sunday night at Pleasure Island, Monday at Fantasmic, Tuesday at E-ride night, Wednesday on the Boardwalk after our Illuminations cruise with 2 other DIS families, Thursday during our Monorail Cocktail party, Friday watching my son parasail or at La Nouba, Saturday doing whatever seems like the right way to end the trip, at one of the fantastic restaurants you've helped me choose or maybe just hanging out at AKL where we're staying.

Here's to safe and magical trips for everyone-
Karen

I don't know about this lime green ribbon deal...I'm pretty new here. But have an awesome and safe trip! Hope you can make it through the snow...I just got back from Colorado on spring break...luckily we flew out before the snow started.

Yes, that's the idea. Although, when we were there in Nov. I didn't see one green ribbon. I have to admit that I didn't have one either - I just looked around for others.

I think this trip I will get one! :p

Since I started getting SO MUCH info through the DisBoards, I couldn't wait to meet a fellow Diser right there in the parks...

Well, on a 10 day trip in May 2002, and a 4 day trip in March 2003, I have yet to see ONE other green ribbon other than my own hanging from my fanny-pack, back-pack and stroller. (I even have lime green luggage tags)

I even went to to extreme to ask people wearing lime green socks, shirts, hats, skirts, etc. if they were Disers... so far just funny looks.

I will be there in April for a week, donning my lime green ribbons, I HOPE I get to see atleast one other on my trip this time.

The only Diser I met was near my hometown in NY at the local DisneyStore in the mall, go figure!

When I am in WDW in June - July I will definitely be wearing lime green. I would also love to meet a fellow DISer. I am also new to the boards but am loving all the info that is available here.

I don't think I would have been able to plan a trip this late in the year without everyone's help. Plus, all this info helped me persuade my DH to finally say yes to WDW.

Thanks to all!

Hope to see you in June-July!

Wear your LIME GREENproudly and you might see some other DISERS!! We always wear lime ribbons on our fanny packs and stroller!! Often get strange looks and get asked why....in which we are always happy to explain!!

I proudly wore my ribbons when I was at WDW in December, and was pleasantly surprised to meet several other DIS'ers (of course, it was during the time of DISCON, so there were a lot of them around).

My husband and father-in-law were very amused at meeting the people they referred to as my "imaginary friends"!

I THINK I will be wearing one in June...but I am quite shy, so I am trying to talk myself round! I know you guys are all friendly!

I am also from the UK (London) and for some bizarre reason, most Americans think we are from Australia!!! Our surname is "Martin" which is prounounced differently in the US to the UK and it has taken 6 trips for me to be able to prounounce my own surname in "American English"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not good for a shy Brits self esteem!!!!!!

So if you meet me in June, be nice and dont make fun of my accent.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allie, who will be travelling with DH, DD, DS and MOM!! Oh, and some Lime Green Ribbons (I THINK!).

My daughter & I will have to wear green ribbons on our fanny packs or our pin lanyards. :smooth:
We will be there next week (3-24 to 28), Hopefully!!! That's if they don't cancel my husband's leave with everything going on with Iraq. He is in the military, so it could be cancelled at a moments notice. :(

Hope to see some other ribbons.

NandP, My family and I will be in WDW from April 20-26. We are staying at the ASMo. I am going to try to find some lime green ribbon. I will keep my eyes peeled for others as well. I'd love to meet someone from the board. I too could never have done all of this planning without this board. I don't know any of you but garsh heh heh, I love ya!

Allie, don't feel bad. I've always looked for lime green ribbons (past 4 or 5 trips) but never seen any. I finally got up the courage to wear one on our trip in January and I actually saw a woman with one. We were waiting in the lobby to be called for Cindy's breakfast. Then I couldn't bring myself to say something to her! I'm so mad at myself for being so shy! Maybe in June I'll do better!

What type of "ribbon" are we talking about? Any old flat ribbon you can get in the sewing section of Walmart?
GoofieRuthie- love the name! Looks like we will be in "The World" at the same time!

I haven't been to WDW since finding the DIS, but I plan to keep my eyes peeled when I'm there in May. I was flying to LA a few weeks ago, and watching people board a plane for Orlando, I was checking for lime green. I didn't see any, but it was good practice :D
I'll have some sort of ribbon, so if you see me, say hi!

I found the "curling Ribbon" type in WalMart... it hangs from my fanny pack, backpack and stroller...

GoofyRuthie.. I hope we bump into you too... We will be at our resort, (BeachClub) on Easter Sunday for the egg hunt then brunch, then off to Epcot... 21st will be in SeaWorld.. .22nd MK 23rd Epcot 24th MK then heading home on the 25th....

I wore mine on my backpack during my December visit and I kept my eyes peeled for some and didnt see any! I will be wearing it again in April.

Thanks NandP for the reply! I'll check Walmart next week for ribbon and will adorn my backpack, fannypack, etc.! I'll have my family going nuts while we are there, trying to spot other lime green ribbons! We check into the Dolphin Easter, and plan to be at MK on the 22nd also. Maybe we will spot each other! Wish they would decide on the hours for that day. TINKTWINS-- Wow, driving from MA! How adventurous! Haven't been able to convince DH to try that yet!

dw and me will be "wearin the green" 5/25-5/31 hope to meet like tinted disers:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Well Disney Freak I had to offer to do ALL the driving!! UGGGG
But Im going:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc And thats what counts!! Besides, this will be out 4th trip in 1 year so I had to cut back some place. It will be our first attempt at driving, and we are going with another family who has done it several times. We are also staying at the Dolphin!

Wear the green!! You never know.

I actually made a green button that says DIS on it and has my user name. (and I've been know to give out a few too ;) )
Made DH wear one too ;)

We were ther in December....so Dis-con helped.
We saw about 20 people.....some planned, but some we just happened to run into.

It's great fun!

TINKTWINS- I'm sure you'll be making lots of java stops on the way down! Wow, 4 trips inside of a year! Do you get funny looks from family and friends when you say you have another vacation coming up? We sure do. Our second trip was almost 3 yrs. from the first, this one is 14 months from the last to "The World". We won't count the one to Disneyland 8 months ago! Well, have a safe drive down and we'll be on the lookout for your green ribbons at the Dolphin!
