I know I read awhile back about grabbing some of those Mickey paint chips while at Home Depot. Well, we were there yesterday and I grabbed a few of them. But, now I don't remember what I'm supposed to do with them!!

Is this the board where people were talking about them? If so, what do you do with your paint chips?

Thanks! :teeth:

The nice bright lime green Mickeys make a great "DIS color" to wear into the parks to identify you as from the DIS boards. I was so disapointed last January and August, because I wore my lime green every day, and NO ONE came forward to comment about it other than non-DIS cast members! I did run into a fellow DISser from my area, but I already knew she would be there, and I was looking for her.

I've worn lime green ribbons and have had people come up to me! I'm just wondering what I'm supposed to do with these paint chips. They don't peel & stick, like I was hoping. Do you cut them out and tape them to things?

Someone mentioned that if you soak them in warm water you can peel the mickey head right off the backing - so that it is thinner.

I've heard of others laminating them and pinning them to backpacks and camera bags. :)

I approach everyone I see in lime green and they are usually shocked! They say something like, "Dis <i>who</i>????" and move away from me holding their small children close

I still wear my lime green lanyard, though and now I have some lime green rickrack that is very wide, I'll wear that too :)

I think we may be able to find each other eventually, Rhonda, I'm looking forward to meeting you :)

I got my dd an inexpensive Make Your Own Button kit from Hobby Lobby when they were 50% off. I borrowed a few of her clear plastic buttons and I cut out the Mickey head and made some pins out of them :D I will be there the end of January so say HI to us. Well, me and dd anyways, dh thinks I am nuts LOL!

I just got back and I saw nobody wearing, carrying, or anything else to do with lime green. I felt left out since I was the only--I guess i just didn't run into you other disers!

I cut out my Mickey heads, glued 2 back-to-back, then used lime green ribbon to tie that to my lanyard so that both sides are lime green (had to make a hole near the top of Mickey's head to thread the green ribbon through). Actually I have 3 of those (made from 6 mickey heads)-one hanging from my lanyard, one from my backpack, one for my suitcase. Now I arrive at BWV 12/6, then BCV 12/7-12/12. Someone BETTER say "Hello"!

If you are careful, you can just peel off the background paper. We did that with ours AFTER I had cut around them. (they started to separate, so I just finished separating them.)

We used pin backs and made them into pins, and we laminated them and made lanyard cards out of them. We will be wearing ours when we go on Wednesday. Watch for us in the parks starting Thursday.

Also have a Disboard lanyard (lime green, of course) and a Disboard keychain hooked to a fanny pack.

Hope to see others there.

I'm not very "arts and crafts" oriented, I guess. I kept meaning to cut out the Mickey head and/or make a nice thing with lime green ribbons, but for my most recent trip I simply safety-pinned the whole paint swatch to the front of my baseball cap at the last minute. It got noticed by a few CMs (who had never heard of disboards.com  go figure!) and I was also spotted by a fellow DISer! I'm not sure I would notice the lime green on backpacks and fanny packs because I mostly look at people's faces. But I did meet another DISer by seeing the back of the DISboards t-shirt he was wearing. :sunny:

I've never seem anyone with lime-green "trim"...only people with lime-green clothes. I am a little hesitant to ask them....do they like that color or do they belong to the DIS? Afraid they'll think I'm a weirdo. Hubby already thinks that and would disown me if I went around asking people if they are members. I have some lime-green ribbon on my fanny pack...but it is pretty unobtrusive. Probably no one could notice it.

I was there Nov 7 - 10. I had my Mickey heads attached in many places. The only comments I received were from a young girl who was looking at my Mickey on my backpack. My mother told me she was looking and her dad told her not to touch it. So I turned around and explained to her what the Mickey represented.
The other person was a CM, she asked me if I was a DIS board member. She was at MGM, and her mom is jan-ma. If you are out there jan-ma, I met your daughter Jacki with the red hair, what a lovely, friendly daughter that you have there. You should be very proud of her.
Other than that, not one Dis member did I meet!!!!
I will try again at the end of Jan when I go to Magic Kingdom for a day and then on the Wonder for 3.

I picked up a handful of paint chips and carefully peeled the backs off. Then I made luggage tags by putting my address on the back and laminating them. I also laminated a couple of back to back heads to hang off my fanny pack. Last time I was @WDW one DISer asked about it, but I probably told a dozen other people about the paint at Home Depot. :p

I picked some up on Saturday- they are so cute! I plan to cut out the shape and use a hole punch, and then tie it onto the zipper pull of my backpack. I wrote "The Dis" on it in big letters, and "WDW Poly Princess" on one of the ears.

Thank you for the ideas regarding the paint chips. I have a bunch of them and have been trying to think about what to do to display them. Now I have a few ideas. Look for me and my Mom -- we'll be in WDW (MVMCP on the 12th) the 12th - 14th and on the Wonder the 14th - 18th. Hope to see some fellow DISrs!

We proudly wore our lime green t shirts on our first day and were so disappointed that we got no comments from anyone. We actually got more comments from the badges but then we wore them every single day. I wish they would come up with some lime green sunvisors. It seems like they would be more noticeable in a crowd and they are something that you could wear every day. As much as I loved our t shirts I was not about to do laundry everyday. LOL

Nativetxn, LOL, I had many of the same reactions when I asked about others green shirts etc. I hated to not ask just in case though. I did run into one DISer and a CM though and had several CM's ask and receive info on the DIS boards. Hope some of them join us.

I love the idea of making luggage tags with them! I think I'll mark my ECV with one, too.

Silly question, but which color is Lime Green???

I went to Home Depot yesterday and the two greens closest to what I thought might be considered lime green were "Alien Green" and "Sonic Boom."

Could there have been another shade actually called Lime Green which my HD was out of?

Thanks!

Wow - great ideas - I will be stopping by Home Depot on the way home now! -- not like I am planning to go in the next month (but you never know) ;)

"alien green" and "sonic boom" are brand-name colors, (probably trademarked or something). "Lime green" is generic. Personally, I went with the alien green.
