I was a Connections member for less than a year. Saved lots of money on my Hopper Passes and Meal Q&C Vouchers. Was very happy with Connections.

We joined 8-14-02. Received our membership package on 8-21-02. In fine print on the back of my membership agreement it states: Your membership is effective for a period of twelve months following the membership enrollment date.

Now, I would take that to mean my membership is good until 8-14-03!!

This month, on 7-10-03, I received a notice from Connections letting us know our membership fee would increase from $89.00 last year to $140.00 for this year. It also stated that if we do not want to renew our membership and avoid a $140.00 charge to our credit card, we must call within 30 days.

Now, I would take that to mean I have until 8-10-03 to stay or cancel!!

So today, 7-11-03, we called to cancel our membership only to find out that they charged my credit card $140.00 yesterday. They informed me that the charge would be reversed on my credit card within the next "90 DAYS."

Now, I would take that to mean that the fine print on the memership agreement really means nothing!! You really don't get 12 months worth of benefits. And you get to pay for a membership to Connections for "90 DAYS," without being able to use Connections for that 90 days.

Also, even though we paid for Connections benefits through 8-14-03, our benefits stopped today, because we called and cancelled today. I feel cheated out of 33 days of membership, and I have to wait three months for my credit card to be credited.

Now, I would take that as "It's time to find out about joining Lillian Vernon!!

Can anyone help me find the web page with Lillian Vernon information and membership fees?

Thanks.

I hate to tell you this, but Lillian Vernon is just offering a Connections membership, but with a different payment plan.

You'd still be dealing with the same parent company, MWI, which runs Connections and Simple Escapes, and which has had a zillion complaints similar to what you've experienced, and worse:

That's awful. If I were you, I'd dispute the charge with your credit card company right away. If you wait 90 days and they don't credit you, you'll have lost your right to dispute the charge and you'll be up the proverbial creek with no paddle :(

I dont post on here too much, do a lot of browsing and have found a lot of great tips! But, on the note of Connections, MWI, etc. I have to say watch out! I know that alot of people have had no problems w/them, and have found the vouchers to be wonderful, but I have been burned by them last year and will NEVER join their free trial let alone any full membership again. I joined for the free trial, only to be billed the week later for the full membership and long story short ended up at a lawyers office in preparation to take action against them as they wouldn't reverse the charges. They did finally do so, but I have learned my lesson! JMO :)

Called my credit card. After an 18 minute hold, I was able to explain the charge from Connections that I didn't authorize. The credit card operator asked me if I had delt wit MWI before. MWI runs Connections. My only dealing with them was my membership charge 11 months ago. He said their credit dept was very familiar with MWI!! He wouldn't give me details. Darn!

While you are a member of Connections, the savings are grand. But trying to become a non-member really is NOT grand! Just be prepared to join the many others who have joined the "CAN'T GET OUT OF CONNECTIONS HEADACHE AND HEARTACHE CLUB."

I got the same info packet about 10 days ago. I called thur to find out the exact date my membership ran out before they charged me and was told it ran out on Friday. (that was a short 30 days!:)) I still wanted to order vouchers so I hung up, made the order online and called Friday to cancell. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the info about calling the cc company if they charge me anyway. They didn't give me a canellation number, but the guy gave me his ID number, so I atleast have that.

Update on my Connections charge:
The membership was charged to my credit card on 7/9/03.
Connctions reversed the charge today, 8/2/03.
Less than a month to get the charge removed.
Because I called my credit card on 7/10/03 to let them know that charge was not authorized by me, they held the interest for 30 days.
So, I'm happy now. No charges, no interest fees, and no Connections.

I joined Connections thru Lillian Vernon in May, ordered vouchers, cancelled and had no problems. I will join again for Nov. trip.

My 30 day trial was actually 16 days! Oh well, I planned to keep it through Christmas.

My 30 day trial started 6/22 (I actually joined on the 17th, and got my membership number on the 20th, and ordered my vouchers on the 29th. They charged my charge account (I joined through L Vernon) on July 22. So I got my first 30 days free, plus two days, since I joined on the 17th and got to use it on the 20th.
