We booked our planning session, but were told that menu tastings cannot be confirmed until two weeks prior. Has anyone had problems with not getting a menu tasting? I'm concerned because that is the main reason why we wanted to travel to FL to do the planning session.

Also, I've booked hair and make-up. As far as trial runs go, should I do it when we go down for the planning session or during the actual week of the wedding? I was going to do it during our planning session trip, but then they suggested that I wait until the wedding because then my stylist will remember everything better. I'm a little concerned though because what if I get there the week of the wedding and I don't like it?

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

Ummm we better be able to do a menu tasting because that is the main reason we will be going too...from what I have seen on the food network of Disney fairytale weddings is that they do food tastings

I know when I went for my planning session two weeks ago we did our cake tasting. We already had a second trip planned to come down, so they are letting us do our menu tasting at that point since it is closer to our wedding. My coordinator was pretty flexible with everything; I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem to get your menu tasting in on your trip.

We booked our menu tasting two months prior to our trip. We were told it shouldn't be a problem but that if an event were to come up where the chefs were needed they might have to change times. Usually menu tastings are in the afternoon but because of a conference that the chef was cooking for we ended up having our menu tasting at 9:30 in the morning - "dinner for breakfast" as my EM called it. I have never heard of anyone scheduling a menu tasting and being told two weeks before that it was no longer possible. I would think the worst case scenario would be that they adjust the times. Good luck!

So when I talk to me wedding planner do I mention that we want to do a menu tasting when we go to our planning session?

Our planning session is at 9 am.

YES!!!! I made that mistake! We had everything scheduled and then I asked about the menu tasting and we completely had to rearrange everything, even the weekend... good thing I had slacked and not bought our plane tickets yet :rotfl:. It's funny now but completely stressful at the time. I don't know why they just don't automatically assume we'd want a menu tasting. In my opinion, everything else at the planning session could have been done over the phone. Being able to taste how GREAT the food was for the wedding was what really got me even more excited for it to finally get here.

I am doing a trial run of my hair and makeup during my Planning Session trip. I will be writing down all the stuff that she will do/use so on the wedding day we can remember. It also depends on who you have for your stylist if you can do it. I called around to a few places that Disney recommends, and they said they do the trials no sooner than 3 weeks out. (Mine will be 6 months out.) If nothing else it might be nice to meet some of the stylists to get an idea of what they are like and what they feel they can do for you.

When we did our tasting last year, I requested it as soon as we booked the planning session. Because it was the week before F&W festival started we were told that they weren't sure we'd get it (our tasting was with the chef in EPCOT events). We did get it, we just rearranged our planning session to fit their schedule. You should be fine, they just want to cover themselves just in case.

we made it clear we wanted one. It is not soemthing Disney just does regardless of how it promotes itself:confused3 We almost didn't get the tasting because a huge convention was there and they bumped us!!!!! With a ton of negotiationg we finally got the tasting and it was so worth it!!:goodvibes
