liki tiki resort good or bad??

its our firt stay at disney and we have 2 kids age 2 and 4 would this be a good choice for us

lots of mixed reviews - this place definitely needs works - I haven't personally stayed there -

if you don't mind what are you paying?

there may be other choices that you don't know about?

We stayed there last year.
The resort was OK, well maintained. The pools looked OK as well, however, we did not use them as the weather was too cool to go swimming.
That being said, I would not stay there again because IMO it is in a bad location. Highway 192 is a very busy road and due to traffic, it often took us over 30 minutes to make a 10 minute drive to Disney.

We just got back from a week at the Liki Tiki Village. We are a family of six, with children (all girls) ages: 10, 7, 3, 1 1/2. We had a 2-bedroom townhouse. It had 2 bed rooms and a bath upstairs; kitchen, living room, full bath and washer and dryer downstairs. It wasn't "new" but it was well maintained. We loved having all the space, our girls loved having an upstairs as our home is all on one level. We also loved having a screened in porch. We bought the girls 18" balls at Publix an let them play outside in the screened in porch to wear off some energy in the evening. The pools were very nice, the girls loved the one by the 600 building as it had a waterfall going into the pool. There was also a spa and a childs wading pool but it wasn't heated. The water at this pool area was the warmest for the pools but the spa was a little on the cool side. The pool behind the office was a little on the cool side but the spa was hot. The water park was closed for maintaince all but one day while we were there. The older girls enjoyed it but it was a little harder with the two younger ones to keep track of them.
The only problem we had was that our coffee pot didn't work properly. We called in within a very short period of time a brand new one was brought to us with no questions asked. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer.
We had friends staying in a one-bedroom unit in the tall 600 building and there's wasn't as nice.
It is way off the road with a guard at the gate which I really liked the security of this. It was so peaceful and quiet!
It was a very quick commute to WDW (I printed all maps and directions off Mapquest). There was almost no traffic and it was only one exit off the main road. So easy to find!

My parents went there a few months ago, and were very disappointed. They said they would not stay there again. I saw the pictures and was not impressed

I would love some more information on this resort as well. We are going with DH's cousins for Feb vacation. They traded their timeshare week to invite us along with them for Feb vacation. I just want to be prepared with my level of expectation. We are DVC members, and know that it won't compare with the Disney resorts, but it's a free trip so we really can't complain. Any more info will be greatly appreciated!

Well, the reviews aren't so hot. I don't think I would choose this one with all the other choices you have in Orlando. It's too easy to find another resort that would probably be better.

On the other hand, if I were being invited along for a free trip, well, I would just go into it with low expectations and things would probably work out ok.

jacksmom99 - being a DVC'er, as we are, you will be disappointed. It does depend on what building they get. We got the last high rise to the left of check in and never again. The lobby was very dark and dingy. Hopefully they have cleaned things up or brightened things up as this was 2 years ago. We could not wait for our 5 days to be over and get to DVC. Also remember that you have to drive to everything from this resort. Good luck and will be waiting to hear your opinion when you get back.

We are DVC'rs also and all I can say is I'm glad we stayed here BEFORE moving over to DVC. We were really disappointed. We hadmy parents w/ us and I kept reminding them not to worry that DVC was not like this at all. I'm sure there are other condos out there comparibly priced.

We really like Liki Tiki and are going in three weeks! I think it depends on the age of the family. Our kids loved Liki Tiki. We went last year with my parents. They have a timeshare in Williamsburg and traded it for us to have a vacation in Florida. We were there for two weeks in late Feb/early March. My dad, 75, kept saying it was not as nice as Williamsburg. I think think it was as "classy" as their condo in Williamsburg.
I liked our condo. It was roomy - more tropical decor but this is Florida - and I loved being able to eat outside on the balcony. Our kids were 9,7,3, when we went and they loved the splash park. It was perfect for their ages. I can see if they were teens maybe not as much. The two regular pools were nice for swimming but have no extras like bigger slides or anything. The pools were never crowded or the splash park.
We liked the location. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get to the parks. Anyway, we liked it so much we bought a timeshare on ebay at Liki Tiki and are headed down in a few weeks.
We are a family of 5. We did the regular "hotel" vacation thing this summer and we missed the room of a timeshare. That is a big plus for us.
The price is also right at Liki Tiki. Last year it was free thanks to Mom and Dad and we got a great deal on Ebay so we feel good about it. I would love to go to DVC but don't think we could afford that! This way we can afford Disney two years in a row.
