Likelihood of Nov. availability for new member?

I hope this is the right section for this question...

I'm in the process of buying DVC resale (our contract for AKV went to Disney for ROFR on 6/21 ). We're looking to go to WDW from Nov. 8-15, and we'd like either a 2br or 2 studios, as it's DH and I plus another couple.

While we plan on making backup reservations soon for a moderate, I was wondering if any of you seasoned DVCers had any thoughts as to what our chances are of getting *something* for our Nov. stay, since we won't be able to make any DVC ressies for (I'm guessing) at least another few weeks (provided we pass ROFR). While our preference would be AKV, we're open to staying at any DVC resort.

Any help would be appreciated!

I think you are early enough before the Thanksgiving rush that you should have a shot at it. Also you will be within the 7 month window, so if you're flexible on which resort to stay at, I think you'll be OK. Good thinking on the moderate. It's nice to have that backup plan ready.

I tried booking BW for Nov. 3rd-Nov. 8th no rooms at all in any size is what i am being told. They had to go all the way to Nov. 26th before they found an opening

I was told I got the last room at OKW. Book as soon as you can. You will get a room the question will be where. Probably SSR. Good Luck!

We closed on a resale in May, our contract was submitted to ROFR in April. In all, it took about 4 weeks to go from submission to ROFR to being in the system (we did have to call MS and bug them a little after we closed to get administration to input our points).

So if your contract goes along that schedule, you're probably looking at making ressies in August...I think if you're flexible with what you want and maybe even a little flexible with dates or split stays, you might find something (perhaps at SSR). Just a guess though...

Highly likely you can find something at SSR (we just booked a 1BR for a relative there first week of August calling 35 days out and were told there was "plenty" of availability at SSR but there was nothing (regardless of size room) at BLT, BWV, AKV, VWL, BCV. At AKV chance is probably 50/50 if you can call fairly soon.

SSR is a wonderful resort, so if that's the only place with rooms available when you call don't hesitate to stay there.

Thanks, everyone! We're pretty firm on the dates, as we're flying from Rockford (IL) to Sanford and Allegiant only flies there Mondays and Fridays. But we're flexible on where we stay. I'd be fine with any of them for this trip, since we've never stayed at a DVC resort (we've done moderates, mostly, and one value). Besides, if this contract passes, we'll have plenty of future opportunities to stay at our "home" of AKV

We were able to book a one bedroom last year at Kidani Village savanna view--pretty much on the same time table as you! Good luck!

I finally got to call today re: reservations (though we've probably been in the system a few days now).

We got something! Yay! We're doing two studios at SSR, with a waitlist for a 2-br at AKV. We could have gotten the 2-br at SSR, but that was too "expensive" for our current point situation.

I'm just happy we're getting to use our new DVC points for the Nov trip Tomorrow we'll call to cancel our backup PORS res.

I'll still get a taste of AKV, though, over Labor Day weekend. We're going with my sister and b-i-l, as they'd said they got a great deal on some rooms - their treat (how could we say no to that?? ). I'd suspected they were renting DVC, but didn't know which resort until our Magical Express envelope came and the luggage tags said AKV

I'm definitely looking forward to BOTH trips!

We are going to be there nov 5-13th(split stay akv/blt). And I just called the other day to add on Nov 4th and the only place available with a 1 bdrm was SSR. That week is veterans day so the kids have a day off of school so I think it is going to be relatively busy. Not to mention it is the start of MVMCP and Osbourne lights. Book as soon as possible.
