Likelihood of getting 4th Fastpass for Space and EE

I refresh consistently for a few minutes and pretty much can get whatever I'm looking for.

The best way to search for a specific ride is to book the first time that pops up for the attraction you want. When you then go to modify the time, that attraction will appear at the top of the list. This obviously only works if a time appears, but most every ride has at least one time show up after a few refreshes.

So last night I was trying to get a Space pass to start around 7:45 to match with some friends who had booked before me. I scrolled down to Space, it was unavailable. Refreshed, scrolled down, saw for 10:30 and booked that. Then went to modify the time, and now Space is at the top of the list - no scrolling necessary. I tend to book increasingly earlier times (1030->9, 9->8:45, etc) because it makes me feel like Im making progress, but it's not really necessary

This is pretty much exactly what we did on our last trip. As soon as we touched our magic bands to the mickeys at the entrance to a ride I would immediately get on the app to find the next fastpass we wanted, and then modify if the time wasn't close enough. I was able to get us 3 consecutive fastpasses on Space this way (we wanted to take a series of silly ride photos, lol) and it also worked for Everest and Rock n Roller Coaster. Also constantly checking the app helped us get fastpasses for things like Peter Pan. The only rides I didn't have any luck getting on the same day were the Pandora rides but that was to be expected (didn't stop me from trying though).

We were at AK on Pandora opening day May 27, Saturday, and had reserved FPs for EE 10-11AM, FOP 11AM-12PM, NRJ 12-1PM.
:wizard:

How did you do that? Every time I try to book AK FP+, it says I have to choose between NRJ and FoP.

Even in January, usually considered a lower crowd time, I was unable to snag Space Mountain as a 4th FP. It's not our favorite coaster and we were unsure about riding it again so it wasn't a priority at the 60 day mark. Then I decided while in the park that I wanted to give it another try. No fast passes available.

Everest was easy to get 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. fast passes for. My daughter rode it over 20 times in one day. I rode with her about 15 of those times. About half of that was FP, the other half was single rider. As soon as we scanned our bands, I was searching for another FP for us. That was a great day!

So folks not even in the parks can book FPs today in the parks and play keep away from those actually there?

:wizard:

Anyone with a valid ticket can book a FP, it's not location dependent.

Passes go unused all the time for a variety of reasons; someone got sick, or forgot, or plans changed, or a meal ran late, or sleeping in was more important. Tuesday night I had planned on visiting DHS, but ended up at MK instead. The one pass I had booked ended up going unused because I didn't think to cancel it.

Sure, I could sit on the site all day and book passes without entering the park, but 1) what's the point? 2) my party of 1 not in the park is not going to have any more impact than a guest who is in the park and just decided not to ride, and 3) not many have extra ticket days sitting on their account to randomly book and not use passes.

How well does
We were just at WDW mid May and used it like that for many rides including 7DMT, Peter Pan, Splash and Big Thunder multiple times, RnR, ToT, TSMM, etc. We did not find FEA but didn't look much for it after riding it standby and not seeing the big deal. We typically RD one park and use our FP's later in the morning. Then we'll grab a couple more FP before heading to the resort for a break. We then go to whichever park interests us for the evening and grab more FP's as we go.

ETA, we also grabbed a ROL FP within about an hour or two of the performance starting.

Does this still work well in the evening or does the well dry up during the afternoon?

I do it pretty exclusively in the evening because of my work schedule
Early afternoon is actually one of the hardest times to find passes IMO because that's when the most guests are in the park. By evening, everyone has filtered out for the day so there's less passes being grabbed

Just used this method on Tuesday, full summer crowds in the parks. Did 4 fastpasses earlier in the day at Epcot and decided to take a break back at the hotel. Before leaving Epcot, grabbed a 5th FP for 7 dwarfs at 6:30. After our break, as soon as you tap in at the 7 dwarfs fastpass queue you start looking for your next FP. Got a Space Mountain for 10:30 then modified it several times until it was just 10 minutes away. We did this method doing every headliner in the park and in order too, no back tracking on tired feet. So 7DMT, SM, Buzz, Splash, Big Thunder, Pirates, stopped to watch the fireworks from Adventureland, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Pooh, Little Mermaid, 7DMT again(got lucky), Haunted Mansion again, Big Thunder again. Total Fastpass count for the day

17 party:

Last night in the parks on a once in a lifetime trip. We had a blast and didn't once wait in standby.

With regards to Pandora rides, it wasn't open when we were there but from time to time I see what I would be able to grab on the day of in planning for future trips. I've found that Navi rive ride has been easy to find day of availability for...FoP I hadn't seen any of until just now when saw an evening FP available. FoP is not one that I would bank on being able to find but Navi only takes a couple of minutes.

We also tried several times to get a 4th FP for Flight of Passage and weren't able to. FoP was the ONLY ride we couldn't get a 4th FP for. FEA, 7DMT, Soarin', Test Track, All the Mountains, Peter Pan and Navi were available.

With constant refreshing of course. If you don't get the FP you want your first time, Don't Give Up! My husband and I called it the Disney Lottery and had just as much fun refreshing the screen as gambling in Vegas! Nothing was better than scoring a hard to get fastpass just 5 minutes away.

Yah, I get how FPs go unused. But I did not realize folks sitting at home could reserve those FPs possibly with no intent to use them. Seems like it would clog things up. I would guess Disney knows how many unused FPs there are and makes a certain number available knowing that some don't get used.

It just seems strange people can do that from home.

I just played around with it for about 15 minutes and had 3 FP times come available for FoP (2 evening times and a 4:15) where I never did back a couple of weeks ago when I was looking. It 'should' keep getting easier as time goes by. And I agree, it's like playing the slots lol

Thanks everyone. This makes me feel much more relaxed. Sitting on a phone hitting refresh over and over again is something we can handle

So in the minds of those of you who implement this strategy, would you say this eliminates (for the most part) the question of "when should I book my initial 3 FP? You should just book for whenever you think you will be done with your RD plans. I've always waited until afternoon or evening when I know it will be busy and booked headliners for that time because I didn't want to be stuck with nothing but low priority rides or long lines the rest of the day. Should I trust this method enough to know I'll be able to get something decent pretty much any time I want?

I was so confident with this method that for the last two days of my trip I canceled all my fastpasses that I'd made 60 days ahead of time, I slept in, booked FP while I ate breakfast, then continued getting 4th, 5th, 6th FPs for the rest of my day. The only FP I could not get was FoP and believe me I tried. But this trip was also only 2 people so I think that makes it easier. Also we'd already done everything we absolutely had to do so I was just having fun but still got all the FPs I wanted.

I do RD and then 3 straight FP starting around 10:00. Then just keep adding more FP's as they are used.
