:::sticks toes in to test the waters:::

I'm way behind, can I just jump back in? ;)

Well, of course!

:welcome: back! :)

Kay People... I know I live a long ways away, but can someone pul-eeze tell me who Chloe is?? I have a 4 year old neice named Chloe and yeah, maybe she knows more about computers than me, but somehow I don't think you're talking about her. :confused3

She was the Super Duper Mondo Cyber Genius Ultimate Hacker Cracker on the TV show 24. She was like the MacGyver of all things electronic. She could pull up top secret files while stirring her coffee, tap into survelance video without breaking a sweat, reprogram a pocket watch to launch a nuke. In short, she was a true Geek's Geek.

PERFECT answer to the question!

And if you guys have not watched 24.....

Well...DON'T! It has to be the most addictive television show in all of history. And if you DO decide to watch it...either stop each episode 15 minutes before it is over or don't blame me for not getting any sleep for 2 days while you watch a whole season of it! :lmao:

It is the BEST! Love it!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I don't mind being an expletive (not explicit) but I really don't want to be compared to mating dogs.

I think she was comparing the laughter of a 10 year old to the mating dogs. Did I miss it??

sort of. i was comparing my laughter when i hear the phrase, "cheesy winkers" to the laughter of a 10yo boy watching two dogs mate. just that sort of immature, silly, sneaky laughter.

so no, winkers, you don't remind me of mating dogs. sorry if i didn't make that clear before!!! :lmao:

Future World!!!!!

I love Future World!

My top 10...

1. Wait for it... wait for it.... SOARIN'!!! I love that ride.

2. Soarin'

3. Soarin' - I love to ride this three times before starting any day. But that is when I am solo...and low crowds...

4. Mission Space. And I *may* try the spinny side this time.

5. I guess I should see Figment...since I never have. popcorn::

6. Test Track

7. The Land Ride - was rehabed the last time I was there...have not been on that ride in years!

8. Turtle Talk with Crush! Last time I did this, I was undewhelmed. I need a do-over!

9. Find cool Hidden Mickey's.

10. Take some time here. I am always rushed!

"It's the wave of the future, the wave of the future. It's the wave of the future; it's the wave of the future, the wave of the future, the future, the future..."

Sometimes I feel as messed up as poor Howard. It mostly happens in bed at night, when I muse about our trip next September, as if it were as important as deciding whether to put zippers or buttons on the seat fabric inside and airplane. Over, and over, and over: which ADR when; which order to tour the parks; which mode of transport is best from any given place. Most of the time, I give up, and end up right around Day 2 mid-afternoon, not having gotten any further than I did the night before. It's like Groundhog Day or something much worse.

I thought I'd sneak in one more update before too much longer; it seems the right thing to do, the right thing to do, to do, to do...

Ok...I did not understand ANYTHING you just said above?? :confused3

Future World for me, has some cool things in it, but honestly this area of WDW just takes more effort from me to enjoy it. Whereas MK, WS, and AK are "easy" for me to relax in, mostly because of the layout, landscaping, visual and kinesthetic values, it just takes less energy for me to "get it".

Most of you know technology scares the living snot out of me. Not because I CAN'T figure most things out, but it takes so much time and effort for me to do so. Owner manuals, shop talk lingo, I just don't get most of what I hear, so I don't listen.

Having said all that, there are some things I really can and do enjoy in FW. Not because I understand them, but because of their high entertainment value. Seriously, who doesn't love going 65 miles and hour with the top off?? Of seeing 10 pound lemons?? That to me is just nifty!

So, here they are; the TOP 10's for FW done Soldier #1 style:

I did not read these when I did mine...

1) Watch a whole song's worth of Fountain action at the Fountain of Nations. I have one of the tracks on my IPod, and I do declare, it is one of my favorite tunes of all time!

Aw! Great one!

2) Stop and smell the roses, literally, in the rose garden.

Another great one!

3) Ride the Land boats. It is my fantasy garden...

This was on mine! :)

4) Have a chat with Crush. He's my number 1 pal at The Big Tank

Yeah...I talked him up SOOO much for Lucas...and he was not on his game when I was there...so I need to see it again!

5) Ride Soarin' . I'm not making this up, but when it flies over the orange groves, that is literally going over my house where I grew up. I can spot my street!!! How cool is that?!! (That scene is in Hemet, by the way). I had a good friend who had a grove that grew for Sunkist.

That is the coolest thing EVER! I love to ride this over and over!

6) I can't help it, I live me some Figment- farts and all. I find it hilarious that a purple dragon-like thing lets loose in a Disney attraction. What can I say? He must have eaten at the Cantina on his way home.

Great. He farts?! Oh well. I will still go see it. :)

7) I'm looking for a particular hidden Donald Duck that I think I may have discovered. I found it on someone else's TR, clear as day, but want to photograph it to confirm before I say more. That by the way, would be at M:S which I will ride in some form- depending on the time of day I can.

No way! A hidden Donald Duck?!

8) I don't know why I didn't put this as #1... SSE has got to be the single most awesome thing FW has going for it. I love everything about it, and can't wait to laugh hysterically at the go-go lady.

ur...what is SSE????

9) There is a butterfly garden behind the bathrooms near Mousegears. I want to hang out there for a spell and see if I can get a nice shot of one.

Are you serious!?!?!? I LOVE butterflies! Love them, love them, love them! I need a map to this...Rachel's family loves them, too!

10) Something I don't LOVE, but that has become tradition is running into the Jamitors. They're pretty funny, but this trip isn't about loud! If I see them great; at least I can tell the kids I saw them, and can take their picture.

Another one...what is this?

That's it. Oh, yeah, I might have to cruise the giftshops and catch some more silly hat shots. Just for fun.

wow. I have a lot of learning to do! :teacher:

5) Ride Soarin' . I'm not making this up, but when it flies over the orange groves, that is literally going over my house where I grew up. I can spot my street!!! How cool is that?!! (That scene is in Hemet, by the way). I had a good friend who had a grove that grew for Sunkist.

how cool is that???? awesome.

i'm one of those really odd people who just don't LOVE soarin'. don't get me wrong - i enjoy it. i think it's a cool ride. i just don't salivate when i talk about it like some people do. there's nothing wrong with loving it....i just don't. :upsidedow i would definitely never wait over 30 minutes to ride it. but i've never had to do that - i've always gotten a FP for it. i will say that riding in the first row does make a HUGE difference. the first time we rode we were in the middle and i will never again ride it there - there's something about feet hanging in front of me that distracts me so much that i can't enjoy the ride!

4. Mission Space. And I *may* try the spinny side this time.

might i suggest 2 things:

1. no matter what, look straight ahead at the TV screen in front of you. don't close your eyes or look to the side because that's when you get sick.

2. take non-drowsy dramamine about an hour before you ride. i did and i felt fine afterwards.

when we got off that ride DH and i were both a little wobbly, but it was funny more than it was nauseating. oh, and i do believe that's the only ride i've ever been on where there are barf bags provided for you. when we got on and get strapped in, ray (my DH) looked down in front of him on the "control panel" and saw a package of barf bags. he just looked at me and pointed and i said, "yep, just in case."

I like your top 10 for Epcot.

I agree with Sandy321, naps are great on Ellen's Energy Adventure. If the benches are too hard, sleep on the floor. I've done it and it's much more comfortable than the seats.

The other area to lounge would be the hallway behind the Character Connection. It's always cool and since there's not really anything there, it's usually pretty empty. There are only one or two benches but the carpet isn't bad.....

Be sure and spend some time (and money?) in MouseGear.

SSE = Space Ship Earth!

and really get your camera ready because its now interactive at the end - then you get to go into the fun room with computer type games - :cool1:

However, I think that's why there is always a line outside when we last went... How long ago was that?? years!

That is very cool! :)

I was on teh phone with maroo and told her I needed to go fry my tofu for dinner, and she says, "well, there's certainly one sentence that has never escaped my mouth!" :lmao:

:lmao: No, mine neither!

Is that Gazpacho? Yummm!

See, there's lots to love about future World! But no, I get what you said about not caring for the ambience. I don't know why I like it so much (or Tomorrowland) because I am not typically into a modern aesthetic. I guess because the 'modernness' of Future World and Tomorrowland is so dated, that it seems nostalgic in its own way to me. Like thats what we thought the future would look like back in the 70's. Very oddly appealing to me for some reason:confused3

Some of my favorites in FW:
-Soarin' of course!
-The background music
-The fiberoptic lights in the ground
-Living With the Land
-Spaceship Earth - miss Jeremy Irons but love the new games at the end
-Club Cool
-The fountains on the walkway to World Showcase
-Universe of Energy (good memories from my first trip when I was 12)

Space Ship Earth! :scared1:

Another stupid error that might get me voted off the DIS island!

:faint:

I can't believe I didn't know that one!

Of course...SSE is a MUST.

Although, I refuse to take either Lauren or Rachel on that ride...I have seen the stairs in there...and heard about how often that sucker dies...and I just can't see carrying either Lauren or Rachel down all of those stairs! :sad2:

how cool is that???? awesome.

I think I will get some Zofran for this trip and just take it just in case. :) Even non-drowsy dramamine puts me in snooze land! Unless...I could take some, ride/sleep on Ellen's and then ride MS! :)

There are so many things I love about FW. The theming, not so much. The layout, not so much. The hike back to WS? Not so much.

But...Test Track, Soarin', SSE and MS all make it worthwhile!

Especially if I get to do them more than once.

It sounds like there are some new cool things cooking there that I can't wait to check out though!

I agree. But I don't know. For some reason, Epcot, both FW and WS, have this draw for me. I don't really think to myself while walking through FutureWorld.."Gosh, no detail" I don't know why that is. I notice the lack of detail at other theme parks...

In a way I agree as at all times, while I notice, it is a peripheral thing and it's really almost an afterthought. Treking through any of the parks from one end to the other is not easy, in Epcot you know beauty is just around the corner so it makes it quite palatable. I do find myself power walking here (as well as at DHS) though to get to where I am going, versus the MK and AK stroll.

I hope to slow it down this next trip. Even though we will have some newbies, I don't have the "stress to impress" like I did on the last trip! In fact these newbies would prefer to stop, stroll, notice the details. So Liesa, tell me about Donald BEFORE you go!

I REALLY want to go during Flower and Garden though one of these days!

I REALLY want to go during Flower and Garden though one of these days!

Me too. I also want to do the Food and Wine....

I agree about Power walking through Epcot....

Figment is our family mascot....goes well with the motto of flatulence forever.;)

Future World!! :cool1:

1. the land - if you love it - then I would consider doing the Backstage Tour - its like $12 and is so very enjoyable (maybe on your solo day?)

Hey, that's a mighty fine idea... Maybe I'll look into that!

2. SSE - when you come "out" there is a WHOLE lot of techno machines- wait for the one that you have a skeleton in an operation game style - the others are too much work! (like floor hockey - dd enjoyed running around with dh tho!)

I usually head straight out, but maybe we should linger, just a little??

3. Figment - after the ride arent you going to send us a postcard?? hmmm???

Oh definitely!!! PM me your e-mails!!

4. Naptime - why do people always forget the value of taking a nap? Head over to Ellen's Adventure - I cant tell you much about the ride, its dark, is a/c and you can get a whole row to yourself, so snooze is a must!!

I just sorta have a thing with Ellen. Just me. I have been on the ride a couple times, but it fails to impress me. :confused3 But, if I'm snoozing maybe I won't have to watch her. :confused3

5. we must do Test Track - dd favorite...

There are some nice HM's I'll be looking for in there.

6. Nemo, Crush, Turtle Talk - but dont forget about the manatees!

I hear they only sometimes out, but worth it, if you can catch them.

7. and of course you could never do Soarin too many times - now most people will tell you that you can ride Soarin, then FP and use your FP beyond the FP return time - however I must have a nerdy stamp on my person -because in all of our trips - THEY ALWAYS TURN ME AWAY!! Once I got thru the first CM - but the CM collecting the fp yelled at me, I ignored him, kept walking, but poor dh and dd didnt - I was so angry - I didnt show it - I just went back and yelled at a manager (ok I cried, I didnt yell - dd has fainting issues, and often we do FP and have to leave and spend time in the FIrst Aid station - well he did give us a FP to use, but still... humilating I tell you!) traumatic and yet we still ride!!

I'm sorry... that's really a bummer, Sandy! Fainting issues?? Yikes!! :scared1:

8. The fountains are fabulous - but I forgot to mention

I love them, but more than the fountains, I adore the soundtracks!! The BGMusic is so great in this park.

9. the fountains at the exit of Honey I shrunk the Audience - dh and dd spend hours it seems here!!

10 Rose Garden - how do they keep all those roses painted red? Always beautiful!!

They are always beautiful!!

Love it!

At least I get it now :)

I need another addiction, I'll ask Andrew to bring me home a season and camp with it all Winter Break.

sort of. i was comparing my laughter when i hear the phrase, "cheesy winkers" to the laughter of a 10yo boy watching two dogs mate. just that sort of immature, silly, sneaky laughter.

so no, winkers, you don't remind me of mating dogs. sorry if i didn't make that clear before!!! :lmao:

Now that we are all clear on THAT! :lmao:

Future World!!!!!

I love Future World!

My top 10...

1. Wait for it... wait for it.... SOARIN'!!! I love that ride.

2. Soarin'

3. Soarin' - I love to ride this three times before starting any day. But that is when I am solo...and low crowds...

9. Find cool Hidden Mickey's.

10. Take some time here. I am always rushed!

Nice list. I've got the cool HM's covered, and maybe with two other silly girls we can get you to like Crush. Duuuuude...

how cool is that???? awesome.

i'm one of those really odd people who just don't LOVE soarin'. don't get me wrong - i enjoy it. i think it's a cool ride. i just don't salivate when i talk about it like some people do. there's nothing wrong with loving it....i just don't.

So, we have dramamine instead of a margharita??

Yeah, I do know what you mean about people hanging in front of you. It's hard for me to keep other people's feet off my view.

I like your top 10 for Epcot.

I agree with Sandy321, naps are great on Ellen's Energy Adventure. If the benches are too hard, sleep on the floor. I've done it and it's much more comfortable than the seats.

Noted. Floor best for naps. I always do that on the flights back- well at least until they yell at me to get my seatbelt back on. Hate when that metal thingy pokes in my back though. Didn't used to. 10 pounds makes quite a difference in floor napping comfort.

SSE = Space Ship Earth!

and really get your camera ready because its now interactive at the end - then you get to go into the fun room with computer type games - :cool1:

However, I think that's why there is always a line outside when we last went... How long ago was that?? years!

I think some redneck photos will be an integral part of our trip. :rolleyes1

That is very cool! :)
I think so!

Is that Gazpacho? Yummm!

IT IS!! Score for you!

See, there's lots to love about future World! But no, I get what you said about not caring for the ambience. -Spaceship Earth - miss Jeremy Irons but love the new games at the end
-Club Cool

-Universe of Energy (good memories from my first trip when I was 12)

Yes, the little twinkley lights are so fun!

The interactive game is a definite improvement for the ride down in SSE!

I almost forgot Club Cool. But remember when it was "Ice Station Cool?" I loved that!!! So, so sad they changed it!! That icy tunnel was the BOMB!

Space Ship Earth! :scared1:

Another stupid error that might get me voted off the DIS island!

:faint:

Although, I refuse to take either Lauren or Rachel on that ride...I have seen the stairs in there...and heard about how often that sucker dies...and I just can't see carrying either Lauren or Rachel down all of those stairs! :sad2:

Can see your point here; probably not the best one to take them on!! that would be a big job to get them off!! NO THANKS!

Great advice!

I think I will get some Zofran for this trip and just take it just in case. :) Even non-drowsy dramamine puts me in snooze land! Unless...I could take some, ride/sleep on Ellen's and then ride MS! :)

:lmao: Bring some for me too! Wouldn't want you to have to carry me off SSE! :rotfl2:

There are so many things I love about FW. The theming, not so much. The layout, not so much. The hike back to WS? Not so much.

But...Test Track, Soarin', SSE and MS all make it worthwhile!

Especially if I get to do them more than once.

It sounds like there are some new cool things cooking there that I can't wait to check out though!

Especially the long walk back to my personal fave, WS!! Seems like about 4 miles!

Getting there early is the key, for sure!!

I"ve heard rumors too. Will be interesting to see what they've got planned!

I agree. But I don't know. For some reason, Epcot, both FW and WS, have this draw for me. I don't really think to myself while walking through FutureWorld.."Gosh, no detail" I don't know why that is. I notice the lack of detail at other theme parks...

Hmmmm.... There is detail, but for me, it's just takes so much more effort to find it. At FW, I actually have to look for it!!

There, Cynthia said it better than I ever could. Thanks!!

OK. I will , but not until my HM's post (I have several actually- noticing a trend here?)

Me too. I also want to do the Food and Wine....

I agree about Power walking through Epcot....

ME too. Wish it was starting before or during our trip, but the timing just didn't work out this time... ah well, another reason to get back.

Figment is our family mascot....goes well with the motto of flatulence forever.;)

See how well, we'd get along!? :lmao:
