That might be a fun way to kill some time in some A/C'd comfort. Do they put your dubbed voice the film and you watch it?? How does this work?

You stand in front of a touch screen and you respond to a few questions like are there one or two people, male or female etc. Then they play of a Disney cartoon that you are to dub your voice onto. They play it through once with the vocals running and then the second time they run it without, but with the words along the bottom of the screen karaoke style. When your done they play the same scene back with your voices as the vocals. You can try again if you want to improve it.

My friend and I were laughing ourselves silly over the results. I've found I'm a horrible evil witch, but my friend has a talent for sounding deliciously evil. I was a much better Snow White.

I'm hysterical over what your dad said. :lmao:

Just on a side note, you don't have to do the animation tour in order to meet the characters (like the Incredibles and Sorceror Mickey). If you go into the Animation Gift shop, you can enter the character area through the "exit" doors. It's a nice option if you don't want to do the tour. :thumbsup2

I would have a hard time coming up with top ten list for MGM - so bravo to you for trying. Its definitely my least favorite park. But, I will admit, with the addition of TSMM, and our discovery of the animation academy, it has begun to grow on me. We do love Fantasmic, but missed it last time due to rain. And we typically don't do ToT or RnR because our kiddos are scaredy-cats. So there just isn't that much for us - at least to take up a whole day. Although I do love the restaurants there - did you mention eating there?

Believe it or not - word out is that is now changing!! :surfweb:

At the Magic of Disney Animation now, there are two lines. The line on the left brings you to see the normal Magic of Disney Animation attraction. The right on the left now lets guests bypass the Drawn to Animation film and go directly to meet the characters (Up, Sorcerer Mickey, Incredibles) and/or the Animation Academy. Guests are now being discouraged from entering the character area from the Animation Gallery store.

It's still technically a test, but the purpose of the change was to allow management to better track how many guests were going to see the characters. Previously guests had to enter through the Animation Gallery store, which was confusing for guests and also did now let Disney track how popular the characters were.

Cheesecake yum....

Southwest flies to Nashville - I just have to figure out how to save money - sock it away.... will there be a hotel that will "headquarter" the cheesecake lovers? oh what about cars? will I have to rent a car? Can I bring a friend I met on another board - she lives there - I couldnt visit Nashville without letting tntitanfan know I was coming (I missed the last Nashville meet!)

she's not a Disney fan - she's retired, and believe it or not - she travels, sees the world - and its not DISNEYWORLD!! :faint:

Assuming I can go. And assuming you trust me...We will have room for 3 adults to comfortably fit in Lauren's van.

Last time Lauren and I stayed at the Marriott. The Cheesecake Factory is on one side of the city and the big mall (Opry Mills?) is on the other...we stayed somewhere in the middle.

This time I would love to stay at the Opryland Hotel, though. :confused3 Of course...I may need to get a 4th job to afford all of this. :rotfl2:

When you said leak worthy, I thought you meant the grocery bags....:rotfl2:

Cheesecake Factory. Everything except for the Cheesecakes and Bread are made from scratch onsite.....I know because I made lots of that stuff during training.

OH, that's too funny! I mentioned seeing Tinkerbelle and "leaking"- can you imagine what kind of disaster might ensue if THAT happened??!! :lmao:

Honestly, the corn cakes that we got last time were awful. maroo's pasta looked great, and our enchilada were super, but blech, the corn cakes were mush-city! I think we just ordered wrong. But, that's interesting that it IS all by scratch. I wouldn't have guessed that. And I find it hilarious that their signature dish isn't even made there. :confused3

very cool! so he brings clean water to people? what a great job.

yep, i'm up for one! the only thing that would prevent me from coming is if i get a last-minute transcript order or if i'm VERY pregnant at that point.

You got it. He brings clean water to places where they've had to carry buckets from the street into hospitals and schools since the Soviets left.

Cool! We'll count you in! So, I have Shannn, you, JPFamilyMom (although, she's vanished into thin air lately), maroo, Lauren, me, Sandy?? and....???

This time I'd love to find a comfy hangout place to sit and talk. Any ideas?? The Marriot pool?? Paneras? (my fave)

That actually sounds pretty fun to do. I can see us doing that for a little while to cool off and have some giggles. Too bad they don't offer to record it for you and sell you a CD of it. I'd buy something like that as a souvenir.

If you like that, you should read his Operating Room antics. :lmao: I think you were MIA then. :confused3

OK, I really do want to find the Incredibles and the Cars. But I'll bet when I go in Sept. I'll get the UP characters, which I"m not so excited about. LOVED the movie, but not so excited about meeting a boy scout or old man.

Doing the tour isn't something I"m opposed to. I think it sounds kind of relaxing and fun. I'll give anything a try once.

Well, nothing really stands out to me AT ALL in the eating dept. I've done Sci-Fi, and it was meh. PRime Time looks okay, but, I actually have another idea that I'd rather try out, but not in the park. I'll be getting to that in a few weeks. Hollyweird Brown Derby looks good, but expensive- I would love to try the grapefruit cake, though.

You can bring anyone you want! I'm sure we'll all love her, if she doesn't mind yacking up Disney, and plans, and confessing what makes her leak. :lmao:

Really? Is it a rumor, or on one of the sites and I just missed it? :goodvibes

You never know what's the real deal. I'll have to just go and check it out, and see what I can find. oh, wait a minute, I never did find squat last time. :rotfl2:

I think you better get a law degree and get some tort money muy pronto if you want to stay there! I hear it's ummm... rather spendy. Besides, don't forget you ARE staying at the Poly a few days later, right... ;)

My opinion of Walt is that he was a highly innovative, super-mega-looper creative genious who knocked the socks off the entertainment industry. Or course, he had a lot of help behind the scenes to make it happen (I wish there was a tribute to Roy, as well!!!!). So, a stroll through One Man's Dream is something I'm very excited about.

I think there have many attempts to explain just how TSM works, but it may be one of those things that you have to have first hand experience with in order to really understand. Again, something I'm pretty jazzed up about getting to finally try out! Hey, Heather... sure you can't swing a trip out to Orlando in Sept??? ;) (Seriously, not joking here...)

This is a lovely thought! I do love the September experience in the World, and it would be more than fun to meet up with your crew! I'm not sure whether my finances will stretch that far as I have been giving them quite a workout recently, but if I am going to make it in the fall, I will make sure our dates overlap!

:goodvibes for your great words about my TR. It is really exciting to know that the writing is working!

True.

But it would be a "real" vacation for Lauren.

No matter what - we aren't really able to just pick any hotel. Generally we need to pick a newer hotel for it to have a hope of having a roll in shower room - and the newest rooms have roll in showers AND two double beds - which is really a necessity when it is just me traveling with Lauren.

Do you guys want me to sort of figure out where Lauren and I would stay first and then you guys find places around where we are? Or would you guys rather sort of decide what area you guys are going to stay and then I can try to locate a room for us in the same area?

And what dates are we talking about? How much school is Lauren going to have to skip? And I would much prefer a Friday-Sunday deal?? Have we already discussed dates?

Congrats on the cream cheese! :cool1:

My favorite dessert to make is a key lime cheesecake recipe I found a few years back and "Bubbafied" (My mom's description of my tendency to change recipes to fit my liking.)

Oohhhh Opryland! Too bad it won't be during the holidays, their Christmas decorations are something else! Check for specials, you never know!. I've almost stayed there a couple of times on business but never actually did.

One never knows around here. Even here there's still a little mis-information. Better to check it out yourself, I always say. Especially in the things that tend to be subjective- like dining reviews.

Your writing is definitely "working". :thumbsup2

I'm hoping that going AFTER school starts works in our favor for crowds, but I think the heat may not cooperate. Ah well, I like hot weather, so it shouldnt' be too much a problem. You have given your checkbook a workout. By the way, I forgot to say Happy Birthday, and welcome home!!!

The dates for me are tricky! I really need to use the first week of my time in the States concentrating on my son and my family. I hope to arrive on the 25th or 26th, but we leave for WDW on the 5th. So, a weekend may be tough to find.

I don't know if Lisa will let Lauren (or if Lauren will allow Lauren) to miss 2 days of school?? Big question!

But you KNOW I want to see her and spend the day hanging out again!

Congrats on the cream cheese! :cool1:

Bubbafied!! :lmao: That's a good one! I always cook that way, hardly ever using a recipe anymore. Most of the time it works... ;)

I just got my cream cheese- well, last night. A big tub of Philadelphia- MmmmMmmmmmmmm does it look good! Keylime sounds good!

You know, we could all go over there and just hang out in the lobby! To take a looky see... even if we don't stay there...

i have no suggestions since i don't live there any more. but seeing as i only get over here every few pages, you may want to let me know if you guys decide on a date/location or i may miss it. any place is good with me! i just have to make sure to know ahead of time so i can make arrangements with my family. EVERY SECOND of my time there is always scheduled so i can see everyone (that's what happens when you have divorced parents and families on each side!) so as long as i let them know that this block of time is already taken, i'll be good! my mom lives about 30 minutes north of nashville and dad lives right in nashville, so no matter where i am, i'm close!

Well...how much school she can miss will be less of an issue next year than this year...

But my issue will be how much work I am missing, honestly. Depending on what days we choose. Most of my trips are only using a half day of work off...so I have some wiggle room - but I may want to take a trip other than Disney next year?? Not sure. And my brother and sis-in-law are having their first baby - so I will have some Aunt duties I am sure. So...who knows.

I guess when we sorta get some dates looked at...and make sure they are not during some major exam time for Lauren...then I will know. If Lauren can't come, then I will be up for any hotel arrangements.

I would also pay for a hotel room for someone if they would agree to help me some with Lauren. Traveling with her alone is really, really hard work - dragging luggage around for 2 - not being able to leave her alone to even go grab a snack, etc. So if purchasing a room is an issue for anyone and want to come help - then I am game for that. Assuming that all works out.

Soldier #1’s home suffered enemy attacks last night in the form of biological warfare. This week 2 specific enemy grenades were launched, and their names are “Flu” and “Gall Bladder Attack”. Neither are very fun.
Earlier this week, Zacaroni had a fever, which turned into a cough, that even still lingers. It kept him up for two nights of having too little sleep. Then last night, Naripoo came down with a fever while spending the night at our teammate’s house (I’ll explain why in a bit). She’s 63, and now I’m quite worried that she is going to come down with the same thing. Yikes! We did manage to find some Tamiflu, which cost us OOP about $35. Thank heavens there are anti-viral bombs we can throw right back at it!

We live in the middle of nowhere. This is an understatement of gross proportions. We get visitors from outside about twice a year, and it is always a grand affair. I was very excited for this field visit from our leadership. The chili was made and simmering, the cornbread baking, and the salad bar items were sliced, diced, and spiced, and the littlest kiddos were safely stowed at Kyoko's house for sleeping. But just about the time we arrived at the airport, it started to hurt to breathe. Right under my rib cage on the right side up into my shoulder, it just hurt to draw breath. It doesn’t’ take a 2nd Lieutenant (remember we are still only Sergeant Majors) to figure out that that is in the vicinity of the necessary, albeit quite volatile, little organ called the gall bladder. Yeah, I could have just stop breathing, but that wasn’t the proper course of action at this time, so I didn’t. Instead I soldiered on. As we sat talking over the course of the evening, it just got worse and worse, and finally at 11:30 I went to bed. I passed an uncomfortable night trying to decide which hurt worse, laying on my right side, which hurt my gall bladder, or my left side, which exacerbates a back problem that I’ve had a long time. 7:30 came all too early to cook them breakfast and see them out the door. Today, I am feeling a little better, but not all the way. I hear these things can take time to pass; obviously I’m anxious to be done with this! But while I was laying there in the dark of night with pain in my insides, I had time to think about this little update.

Let’s review shall we? We’ve told you all about the things we are most excited to do at each park and at DTD. We gave you a picture of how this trip will be more adult oriented, by slowing down to see the things around us, and to stop and smell some roses, so to speak, if the fancy strikes us. It isn’t so much about the rides, but about taking time to enjoy each others’ company, see some shows, and take it easy. Of course, there will be times, we’ll need to get our hussle on in the mornings (ie, EE, TSM, and Soarin’) so we can relax in our afternoons, and still feel like we’ve “done it all”. But honestly, the parks aren’t the only places I’ve been thinking about as to how I’d like to spend my time. There are resorts to be seen and experienced too. In fact, there are 3!!! resorts that I’ll be enjoying come September’s TC3 Extravaganza of Freedom. Imagine that! 3 resorts to explore all the nooks and crannies of Imagineering creativity! Here is my list of what POR has waiting for me:

1)Take the boat to DTD on the Sassagoula River. Did you know that “Sassagoula” was the Indian word (I have no idea which tribe) for Mississippi? I hear the 20-30 minute jaunt is very relaxing, and that loads of wildlife can be seen.

2) See Yeehaw Bob in the River Roost Lounge. I’ve been looking forward to this for a very long time!! Here are both his website:

http://wdw4christians.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/yehaa-bob-delivers-fun-music-at-disneys-port-orleans-riverside-resort/

and another that explains more about his show and the venue he plays in:

http://yehaabob.com/Page5.asp

3) Most of you know I love history about most anything. I am pretty pumped about seeing the authentic working grist mill here at this resort.

4) Obviously we’ll be doing some hot tubbing and pool time at Ol’ Man Island.

5) Did you know there is a butterfly garden behind the Acadia House section? I wonder if I’ll be able to use my macro shot selection on my POS camera and capture a photo or two?

6) Just wandering around the peaceful gardens and clean sidewalks (those are absolutely non-existent here) listening to the background music sounds exquisite to me.

7) Having a glass of wine on my balcony doing some people watching and listening to the birds also sounds very inviting right about now.

8) I hear that pralines and beignets will be close at hand. Hmmm…. I wonder if high calorie snacks will be consumed?

9) There are even Hidden Mickeys at all the resorts; you know Soldier #1 will be hunting for those.

10) Last but not least, I am looking forward to using the in-room coffee maker every morning. Faithfully. Every day.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling good.:sad2:

I thought I posted on here but I guess I didn't.:confused3

I tried to read all the updates but my head started spinning. :lmao: I don't know which TR has more action.. yours or Jordan's. I can't read them back to back. LOLOL :rotfl::rotfl:

Yikes! At the gall bladder attack and the flu going around. I'm so glad you could find some tamiflu :) Hopefully you'll start to reeeeally feel better soon.

Your resort plans sound fun! I'm generally a low-key type person and all of those sound like things I'd enjoy if I didn't have a very active 8 yo in tow..lol. I tend to really cherish my alone time when it's in such scarce supply! Looking forward to the next update :)

Hope your feeling better soon. It seems like so many people are getting sick these days.

I love all our relaxed plans for enjoying the resorts. It's going to make for such a wonderful low-key vacation. It should be really wonderful.

I sure do hope you feel better soon! And glad that you guys got some Tamiflu to fight off the sickies!
