I am studying for the SAT, and I share my cousin's opinion-"SAT is short for SATAN" :lmao: I hate that zillion-mile thick book...

I feel your pain.

I am helping Lauren study for the ACT.

I think I took a class to prepare for the ACT.

She better work on the spelling first!!;)

Ok, who spell checked that for her???!!!

where does she want to go?

It's not my spelling, it's my typing. :)

Well...this may sound strange...but she really doesn't get as much choice. She will probably stay close to home since this is where all of her care is...

She also has to basically go where they have an opening for disability housing. Housing will probably make the decision for her.

But..she is also looking into going to Seminary. So...who knows?

Guilty. :guilty:

I always correct spelling in quoted posts...if I see it. I just can't stand to have the text underlined in red. OCD. I know.

Really? That's very cool!! She'd very good at that- esp. counselling! (I'll bet that's spelled wrong! :lmao:)

You OCD- I don't think so! ;)

Congrats to your son on his SAT's that's fantastic! You have every right to be a proud momma. :goodvibes

Hey Crissy!!! Thanks! 79%, 81%, and 89% ain't too shabby! Now let's see if he can be as wise and smart with this first ever girlfriend of his!

Ok that's pretty funny

Always some good laughs over this way...

Speaking of which...

My girls are telling me I have to tell you another little incident that happened about 10 years ago. I promise, there will be more pre-trip planning stuff coming very soon, but I need the weekend to re-group and think about where we're going with this first.

Meanwhile sit back and enjoy...

My dad is one of those rare people with a knack for making people feel comfortable and welcome! He is full of great stories and trivia, and loves to talk and hang out over a beer or cup of tea- whichever the situation requires.

He is also a retired anesthesiologist. He LOVED his job, saying it was both challenging and never routine. Generally, he got along with all the OR staff and surgeons, but a few actually did make his poop list. The arrogant, "I don't need you, or anyone else" types mostly.

One day, he happened to be working with one of these "not so high on his E-ticket list" of surgeons, who happened to be doing a bowel resection. Not being in the know as far as what the heck that means, I'll just quote him, and tell you it was a bowel resection. I guess it probably amounts to a fair amount of cutting here and there, and probably involves a bit of sewing up as well.

All of a sudden toward the end of the procedure, the room got really quiet, and people started looking at each other with that nervous, furtive sort of glance, which meant, "did you fart?" There were about 10 people either in the OR, or who were coming and going, and each one certainly had the same thing going on in their wondering little minds. But the surgeon had something far more alarming going on in his. Either someone farted, or he had just nicked the bowel and had to find his mistake. So he asked, "If someone just farted, they need to fess up right now!"

Do you really think someone is going to fess a fart with 10 other people standing around. Ummm, no.

Dad sat there with quite a grin on his masked face for about 1/2 an hour while the surgeon searched in vain for a tear that was never there.

Well, it's weekend time, so I'll wish you all a very pleasant one, if I don't talk to you before it's over. Meantime, many Disney dreams and Magical family moments!!

:rotfl::rotfl: What a kidder, your dad!:lmao: That's almost as good as your Hoop de View story!

Boy, this thread's been busy this week - took me a while to get all caught up.
Liesa, that's awesome news about your son's SAT scores - wowza :scared1:

I like your dad

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

He's a pretty funny guy, that one!! Love him to pieces!

It has been busy!! Over the weekend I'll be thinking about what we'll be doing during the month of Novemeber. 10 months of nonsense seems like forever, but so far it has really gone by pretty fast. Being here helps pass the time, for sure!

Thanks for the congrats!!

that must have been a stong one , if it smelled that bad.:lmao::lmao:

to my mom's dismay, I still find farts extremely amusing.:rotfl2:

Hurray for Dad!!!!!!

I can't imagine standing there and letting the surgeon 'explore' for a 1/2 an hour!!!!!!!:worship::worship:

That story is too funny!!!!!! LOLOL:lmao:

It's counseling... But I won't correct your spelling. :rolleyes1

And you are so right...there is NO way I am actually OCD. ;)

Love the bowel resection story. Hilarious!

I got to meet Liesa's Dad when I met them in Nashville. Both of her parents are very nice. Her Dad is a trip!

We were having a discussion at the table that had to do with the population of Central Asiam countries, I believe... He was trying to verify a fact and pulled out his iPhone to Google it! :surfweb:

I loved that!

To see some young person on an iPhone is old hat - but to see a retired person pull out their iPhone and hop on the internet was totally cool! He scored MAJOR cool points with Lauren, too. :thumbsup2

you're not OCD!! I want to stay close to my family in the US, so can understand Lauren. I'm thinking Western Kentucky mostly. that means I'll be near-ish you! :)

i think your dad and I would get along just fine

the two of you together! that's a scary thought! :goodvibes

A fly by check-in over here. A break in the quilting action-- I know what some of you are thinking, "Does "quilting" and "action" belong in the same sentence. Trust me, when women get together and hang out, there's always action. ;)

i think your dad and I would get along just fine

I'm sure you would- we could arrange for him to join us too, but after that story, I doubt you'd agree to room with him. :lmao:

that must have been a stong one , if it smelled that bad.:lmao::lmao:

Must have...

Although, not very classy, potty humor makes me laugh; my DH always knows to exit when I burst out laughing out of the blue. I've been told I'm about as mature as a 7 year old in this dept.:confused3 There's something so carnal about it.

Hurray for Dad!!!!!!

I can. You do know that anesthesiologists get paid by the 15 minute intervals, right?? :lmao: Plus, it was beautiful payback.

I thought I biffed that one. Ahh well, I am OCD, and I didn't bother.

I'm glad he made you smile; he's actually quite good at that. And LOVES all things tech. GB, I think you'd get along with him too. Someday, maybe we can get him down deep in the heart of Texas. ;)

BTW, check your "Asian"---- I won't spell check you either, as a professional courtesy. :lmao:

:lmao: That Was AWESOME! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: That TOTALLY had me howling!

Glad I got your funny bone juices rolling!! I needed a good way to start my weekend off.
