Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

I'm inspired to write a TR when we get back - thanks especially for the lovely food pics! I'm looking forward to Le Cellier as we have an ADR there - I'm interested to see the menu as I believe there've been some changes.

Best wishes to you and both your girls!

Shari xx

You should definitely write a TR! I was hesitant at first; but it's been so much fun and it's nice to share your memories with others!

LeCellier is one of our favorite restaurants - we make sure we go every year. They did change their menu (I couldn't get my usual) - so stayed tuned for the pix!

Thanks for the update:goodvibes
Wishing for the best for your DD's surgery.
I know what you mean with getting soaked!
We finally rode it this past April. We waited and rode it the last ride of the day so we thought we would go back to the room wet. Well, my DD & I went back soaked! My DH & DS were slightly wet - not like us. When we started to get wet it felt like Mickey was holding a 55 gallon trash can full of water, upside down over my head!
Waiting for more.......

Perfect description! It is seriously feels like that much water being dumped on you!

Great minds......we've got Yak & Yeti booked for lunch!:lmao:

I hope that means we can look forward to more Yak & Yeti food porn!

I had hopes of convincing her to ride EE but we were just so wet, we wanted to get out of there. She says she doesn't want to try it though; I think she'd like it too - she loves BTMRR. As long as EE doesn't go upside down or have REALLY steep drops, she'd be fine! (it doesn't, right?)

As for DD's surgery, it's for my older DD who is special-needs. Unfortunately, these things are never easy for her (or me, for that matter!). Thanks for your good thoughts.

EE does have one bigger drop right when they take your picture as you're coming out of the mountain. but you can see that drop before you even get on it just by standing there and watching. it's the one where everyone screams as they go by. that's the biggest drop and it's not bad at all!

i will be thinking about your DD.....hope everything goes well! let us know. :goodvibes

Cammie - Good thoughts and prayers headed your way, hoping everything goes well with DD's surgery and she has a speedy recovery.

I hate to see your TR and Ellen's end.....:guilty:

Wow, thanks, Kathy!! That makes me feel so special!

Ellen

As DD and I walked back to our room, the skies were getting darker and darker. This was the worst I had seen it all week. I knew a big storm was rolling into the area. We picked up our pace to the room and fortunately made it in the nick of time. No sooner had we closed the door, that we heard the first loud boom of thunder!

It was pretty wild. I had never seen a thunder and lightning storm like this at Disney before. I wish I could say I took some pix but there was no way I was going outside amongst the trees to take pictures of lightning!

I hurried DD into the shower and then got ready myself, hoping the storm would subside and we could continue out with our plans. An hour later, it was still pouring and thundering. It's now 5:30. Our ADRs at LeCellier weren't until 8pm so we weren't really in a rush but -- this was our last night and I had no intention of just sitting in the room, waiting out the rain. So my game plan was: since we didn't want to walk in the pouring rain through Epcot just yet, I decided we would take a cab again to BW. I remembered I needed to checkin w/ SW for our boarding group assignments for our flight home. The 24hr. mark would be 6:30; so we could get to BW around that time, have concierge check us in for our flight and then, hopefully the rain would be done and we could enter Epcot thru IG (YEAH!)

I dragged DD away from the tv (the Stacey show - again!)
DSC02652.jpg

and we headed out front to get a cab......

DSC02785.jpg

Who would have thought there'd be a cab hanging around out front - last time we had to wait 15 minutes for one. Not that I'm complaining but it got us over to the BW by 5:50 and we still had 40 minutes to kill before SW checkin. And it was still pouring. After browsing through the gift shops, we decided to head up to the BelleVue Lounge in the BWInn and have a drink and wait for 6:30 to roll around. DD loves the kid's drink they make here called the Sour Apple Freeze.....
DSC02789.jpg
DSC02791.jpg

I ordered a Champagne Mojito.......
DSC02790.jpg

We both enjoyed our drinks.................
DSC02792.jpg

DSC02794.jpg

Forgot to mention, we remembered to wear our Mickey boppers tonite. Yeah, we had them with us all week and FINALLY remembered to wear them on our last night!

Before you knew it, the rain subsided and 6:30 finally rolled around. Concierge checked us in - got "A" boarding again - and we were off for our last night in Epcot. It was slightly drizzling - not enough to stop us; but I still wasn't liking the looks of that sky........

DSC02716.jpg

I'm hoping the weather doesn't cause the cancellation of Illuminations. I must see it on my last night!

We entered Epcot and headed over to the U.K.
DSC02795.jpg

Wow, DD can read my mind!
DSC02796.jpg

After I purchased a Harp, we started to walk around WS when I noticed that Off-Kilter was scheduled to perform. I must stop for at least one Off-Kilter song!
DSC02800.jpg

One of these days, I will force my children to sit through the whole show! But for now, DD didn't want to sit; she had some more pressed coins to collect and wanted to ride the Mexico ride before dinner, so we were on the move!

Before we knew it, it was time to head over to Canada for dinner at LeCellier - our favorite!
DSC02801.jpg

A nice passerby offered to take our picture; once again, I wish we had taken the darn ponchos off! (do not like the fashion statement we're making!)
DSC02802.jpg

After only about a 10 minute wait, we were shown to our table. Shortly after we were seated, a couple was shown to the table right next to us. They were two guys from Pa.; one was a Disney veteran while his partner was there for the first time. They were so nice and we wound up talking to the during our whole meal. Honestly, we should have just pushed out tables together!

Anyway, on to the food - first up, the delicious bread. Our server Jennifer added extra pretzel bread because DD said it was her favorite (she had already eaten one)......
DSC02804.jpg

I had to have a cup of the Cheddar Cheese soup......
DSC02805.jpg

I had ordered this soup for the very first time last year and I'm now officially hooked! It's got just the right amount of kick to it and the cup is not too filling.

For dinner, DD made the mistake of ordering her steak off the kid's menu. From now on, she'll be ordering off the adult menu - this was kind of boring (especially compared to her steak dinner at the Yachtsman the night before).......
DSC02806.jpg

I ordered the Prime Rib w/roasted potatoes. I can't remember what type of sauce was on the prime rib, but it was delicious!

DSC02807.jpg

As we were finishing our dinners, I noticed we were approaching the starting time for Illuminations. I asked Jennifer if it would be ok to scoot out to see the show and then come back for dessert. She told us it would be no problem, just place our dessert orders with her before we leave and she'll hold them back until we come back in. One of our buddies at the table next to us wanted to come too. His partner had seen Illuminations before and didn't feel like going out, so his friend joined us. It was funny - as we walked out he told me we should just ditch him and let him pick up the tab! (we didn't!)

I was surprised to see that we had a pretty open spot to see Illuminations right in front of Canada. This is the second time I've left LeCellier to watch the fireworks and both times it's worked out great!

Continued in the next post.........

I hope that means we can look forward to more Yak & Yeti food porn!

You can count on it!:goodvibes

Wow, thanks, Kathy!! That makes me feel so special!

Ellen

It's because you are....

Cammie - I loved seeing pics of my beloved BelleVue Lounge where I discovered the SkyyBerry Martini......

Obviously you guys made a fashion statement with the ponchos in front of LeCellier, I see a guy checking y'all out.

Here's my attempt at photographing fireworks.....

I think next time we come, I really want to bring a small tripod. I have a fireworks and a nighttime setting on my camera and I know the only way those pix will come out right is if you're really still - which, of course, I never am!

Anyway, I just LOVE Illuminations! Once again, it's one of those things at Disney that really gets to my older DD. That child can be ready to go to sleep, but once she hears that music, her eyes get wide and bright and she just watches in amazement. Makes me cry every time!

We headed back into LeCellier and w/in minutes, our dessert was bought to our table. DD ordered the S'mores dessert..............

DSC02830.jpg

I had the Maple Creme Brulee' - sooooo good!

DSC02831.jpg

Once dessert was finished, we said goodnight to our dinner buddies and headed back out to WS. It was PM EMH so we still had a few hours left. We rode Maelstrom again and stopped to take some pix........

DSC02833.jpg

DSC02832.jpg

We then headed over to FW to check out Test Track. We were in luck tonite; I think the storm kept the crowds away because there was only a 20 minute wait. This was our first time riding and DD was very nervous - she was very quiet throughout the whole queue and she had her arm wrapped around mine. I think it's cute actually - for as cool and grown-up she likes to think she is, she still needs her mommy for things!:cutie:

Well, needless to say, she LOVED Test Track! So much so, that once we got off, we turned around and got right back on line again. And again. And again. Yep, four times in a row. I think we were officially in the last car of the night - that was cool! As we exited the ride, DD decided to jump in the front seat of one of the cars on display.........

DSC02834.jpg

I'm soooo not looking forward to the day when she can legally be behind the wheel!

So that was the way we ended our last night - riding Test Track four times in a row. DD had tried a new ride and she was loving it, so who am I to stop her? Again, we were here to do the things we normally don't get to do.

We headed out to catch the bus back to the resort -- and the depression was already starting to set in!:sad1:

Next installment........our last day!

I posted right before your last set of pics, but had to add I'm getting sad, it's nearing the end.

Oh No! It can't be getting near the end! This has been THE BEST trip report of all time! I am SO glad you had the chance to share this experience with your youngest DD. That is something she will keep with her always.

My DS11 is away at camp this week, and we are missing him! I will have to let him see your trip report when he returns. Seeing your DD behind the wheel of that car in the Test Track queue made me sad to think that it is only a matter of time before we see them behind the wheel of a REAL car! :scared1:

Our family LOVED Test Track! Until the last day of our trip, when DD got to ride Toy Story Mania 5 times, Test Track was her absolute favorite ride! DS loved it also....but he found his inner thrill-seeker on our last trip. He was all about some RnRC!!!

Thanks for the awesome trip report, Cammie! I feel like I already know you and your family!

Alan

I'll get to the responses in my next post; I just had to show you guys something.

Last night, DD and I were looking through our past years' Disney photo albums and I came across the following pic. It was taken of her on our very first trip to WDW in 1998 when she was 2 1/2; at AK in the exact same spot I took a picture of her this year. Man, look at much she's grown!

1998 - 2 1/2 years old......

right after i posted i saw this picture on a picture of the day thread i sub to. this is the drop i'm talking about.

Thanks for the good thoughts for DD's surgery, Dawn. And also for the link to that picture. I'm soooo making DD do EE the next time we go. I know that drop - and it's not that it's really steep because it turns at the bottom. I think she'd love it! Sometimes she just needs a little nudge from mom! (don't want to nudge too much though; she'll then make me go on Tower of Terror!:scared1: )

Awesome TR

Love the TR, thanks for sharing.

Awww, thanks guys! And thanks for reading. I swear, my biggest fear in writing a TR was that no one would read it. So I really appreciate those who post and tell me they're enjoying it!:thumbsup2

Wow, thanks, Kathy!! That makes me feel so special!

Ellen

Hey - my TR - you're supposed to be talking all about ME!;)

this looks soooooooooo yummy!!!!

The drink was very yummy and I don't usually like Mojitos. Never really liked the sensation of the muddled mint - felt like I was eating grass. But this was very refreshing. I did almost pass out when I got the bill though - it was $14!

Cammie - I loved seeing pics of my beloved BelleVue Lounge where I discovered the SkyyBerry Martini......

Obviously you guys made a fashion statement with the ponchos in front of LeCellier, I see a guy checking y'all out.

I really need to note the name of the bartender at the BellVue - I can't find my receipt right now, but he's always there and he makes very good drinks!

Yeah, and I think that guy is looking at me and wondering why a grown woman is wearing Mickey boppers!:rotfl:

I posted right before your last set of pics, but had to add I'm getting sad, it's nearing the end.

Well, I may start a pre-TR. Promise to come over and read?

love your TR

Thank you!:goodvibes

Thanks Alan! Is your DS back this weekend? Don't ya hate that they're older and can do these things? DD went away to a "nature's classroom" for a week in September and couldn't call home all week. I was out of my mind! Don't know what I'm going to do when she goes away to college!

DD also loved, loved, loved Toy Story Mania (me too!) I'd like to encourage her to do more thrill rides but then I'm afraid she'll want to drag me on them also. I did all those freaky rides when I was younger; now that I'm older, I'm terrified!

Too flippin cute!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be very afraid - I've learned how to scan pictures! (but thanks! Wasn't DD such a mush?:cutie: )

OH, you MUST start a pre-trippie!! That way, we can share ideas along the way! Let us know if you do...and i'll subscribe.

DS comes home today!! (yay!) Unfortunately, I've got a gig tonight, so I won't get to see him but for a few minutes until I have to go. We haven't heard from him all week! No letters or anything! He's very independent like that...I'll bet he was having such a great time that time got away from him. Anyway, we'll be glad to have him home. (At least until Sunday, then we all leave for the beach!)

Forgot to mention it earlier, but

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

(it is today, right? I think I remembered reading that.)

Note to self regarding your dinner at Raglan Road: don't look at food porn while on a diet!:lmao:
