Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

I just found your trip report and read through it all. I really enjoyed it so far. I can't wait to hear more. I love your daughter's hair!

Just found this TR and had to say something! We were at Tony's the same night as you!

Loving your TR so far. Wish I could do that one on one trip with my mom!!! Can't wait to see what happens next. BTW, i love your DD shirt. Where did she get it?

I love mother/daughter trip reports. I did a girls only cruise with my 2 daughters last March but I would really love to do a one on one trip to Disney World, as my two like totally differnt things in the parks.

Can't wait to hear more about your adventure.

Great trip report so far!

I too am a single mom of 2 girls (8 & 6) and we will be going thier 1st trip in July!
I too live in MA but on the South Shore!

Ooh - their first trip? How exciting! Where are you staying? You and your girls will have so much fun! Be prepared to have to go back again and again!

Thanks!:goodvibes Yeah, I think the half-head braid is the way to go. We used to get the little hair wrap that hung in the front of her face - this is so much more practical!

Cool! What time were you there? Our ADRs were for 7:15. We were in and out of there w/in 50 minutes. Did you stay for EMH?

Got the shirt at disneyshopping.com a few months ago. It was on sale - I think I only paid @$7.99 for it! They have some great sales, but it's addicting. I find it hard to pass up cheap disney shirts - next thing I know I've spent over $40!

Love your username; I'm a jersey girl born and raised! Miss the jersey shore boarwalk so much!

It is nice to do the one-on-one trip. It's certainly a lot less hectic - you can just focus on what the one kid wants to do; rather than get pulled in 20 different directions trying to please a couple of different kids. Hope you get a chance to do it for your girls!

Thanks for reading everybody! Next installment - coming up!

It's now 2a.m. and we're on the boat back to WL. DD and I are exhausted; but our first night in MK was a huge success!

We get to our room and I'm relieved to see that our luggage has been delivered by DME. This is the first time I've let them handle my luggage - I've always been too worried that it would get lost, so I would retrieve it myself and carry to the DME bus. Letting DME get my luggage worked fine and I was glad I did it. Of course, being the anal control freak that I am, I now feel the urge to unpack the suitcases before I go to bed. DD was fast asleep by the time her head hit the pillow; I was tucked in by 2:30am - a little later than I wanted but, hey, at least the clothes were put away!

Since our next day was a pool day, we had no need to get up too early. I, of course, am incapable of sleeping past 9am anyway, so I had planned to get up and run over to the Mercantile and purchase some milk and juice for the room for breakfast. I had shipped a box ahead of time with the essentials: Dunkin Donuts' coffee, cereal, water, granola bars and some snacks. But real milk for my real coffee was a must! After I got back, I made my coffee and went out on the patio. DD didn't budge!

It was so peaceful outside! I'm amazed how many bunnies are hopping around - not deterred at all by all the human activity. They just go about their business - so cute. The weather was beautiful; not a cloud in the sky and not too humid. I let DD sleep until 10 then decided it was time to get moving. We were at the pool by 11 and scored two lounge chairs on the end of the first row - YEA!

The WL pool is fine; the slide is lame though- too short. We're used to the clown slide at the BW, so this one was a little disappointing. It is a nice setting though......

Now, I had visions of just relaxing in my lounge chair and enjoying a few cocktails; but, I remembered - this trip is about doing things with DD that I don't normally get to do. She wanted me in the pool - so that's where I went.
For two straight hours. Even during a rain storm. We stayed in the pool. What did we do, you ask? Well, I had bought these Nemo & Friends "squirters". They were Nemo characters shaped like balls. DD was totally content with me throwing those things as high up in the air as I could and she would catch them. Then the lifeguards organized a water volleyball game - that was fun! I finally coaxed my child out of the water to get some food. We headed over to Roaring Forks. DD and I split an adult portion of chicken nuggets and fries - it was a huge serving and more than enough for the two of us. Sorry but I remembered to take the picture after we had eaten half of it.....

I finally got to enjoy a cocktail - a Poolside Lemonade. Aah - refreshing!

After the required 30 minutes of digesting time, it was back in the water. I think we stayed in there for about another hour and a half. We finally left the pool and headed back to the room for showers. I was slightly tanned and/or red from the waist up; my legs were still shockingly white.(of course they were - they spent the day under water!) We were headed to DTD for the evening. Our ADRs at Raglan Road were for 7:30 and we wanted to get a good amount of shopping time in beforehand. Now I had heard horror stories about the WL buses - especially the ones to DTD. So I wanted to give ourselves an hour travel time. Well this must have been our lucky day because we got to the bus stop at 4:30 and were on a bus by 4:35.:thumbsup2

We made a quick stop at the GF and then headed over to DTD. We made it there by 5:05 - no horror story here! Got off at the Marketplace stop and had to take this traditional picture

Since we still had two hours until dinner, we stopped at Goofy's Candy Co. to get DD her usual - the frozen slushie in a character cup. This year, she picked the pink lemonade slush in the Mickey cup. Next, on to the shops......

DD loves this display

Older DD's birthday is July 5th, so we had alot of shopping to do! We picked her up some cute jewelery and key chains, visor and t-shirt. My favorite item though was the plush Mickey that you can plug your Ipod into. She's going to love that!

After the World of Disney store, we headed over to the Pin Traders store. I picked up the exclusive pins for DVC, Disney Visa, and AP holders (yeah, I've got them all!) I was then given explicit instructions from DD to stay away from her for a few minutes while she made her own purchase. Hmmmm - wonder who she's buying for? She's so sweet - every year, she takes her allowance money and buys me a pin. The very first one she bought me five years ago was an Ariel and Melody pin that said "World's Best Mom". I cried. The tradtion has been carried on every year since.

So DD had made her purchase and asked if we could stop in at Fulton's before we headed into Raglan Road. Now Fulton's is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Disney. We eat there every year and DD was a little disappointed we would not be dining there tonite. We will be eating there in Nov., though; but she still wanted to go in so I could get this special drink that I always get - The Poprocks Martini
DSC02615.jpg

It's very good! The bartender puts strawberry pop rocks into the glass, then pours the mixture of Citron Vodka, Berry Fusion Vodka, cranberry juice and sour mix. Once the drink is poured the pop rocks start popping and cause the drink to fizz. DD gets a kick out of this and loves the fact that the CM always gives her the poprocks that are left in the envelope. It was here at the Fulton's bar that DD presented me with her gift......

Again, tears in the eyes! I just adore this child - she's the best! I only hope she still feels this way about me when the high school years hit!

I proudly put my pin on and headed out. First, a pic on the Fulton's boat deck.....

We still had some time to kill before our ADRs so we decided to walk around PI for a little while. I hadn't been over here since the first time I bought the girls to Disney and DD didn't remember any of it. I'm now glad we took that walk considering that the whole place is now going to be renovated.

Since this post seems to be getting a little long (and I'm getting a little tired), I'll end it here. Promise - tomorrow morning I will post our experiences and pictures from Raglan Road!

So great! I hope my DD and I are like you guys down the road! Your daughter is just so awesome!
I would love that pin for my Mom. DD calls Grandma her BFF all the time! I will have to seek it out.
Good job Cammie! I love the pix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tears in my eyes! DD is sooo sweet! I like the looks of that pop rocks martini- maybe all the jersey girls and Nola girl should meet there for one in November!

Cammie - BFF? Your DD is so awesome! As much as I hate to think of mine growing up, I look forward to that age where she's a "little adult." You've done a wonderful job with your girls! :thumbsup2

I have tears too!!!! You should be very proud of your precious DD, you've done good Mom...:thumbsup2 I had to do a double take on the first pic of this post, the boy looks just like my son when he was younger.

Ellen - Great idea, let's set a time to meet at Fulton's. I should be able to get there by 2:00 on 11/8, what's good for y'all??

Cammie, What a great girl you have! I can understand her being afraid after being stuck on SM...we got stuck last Nov in the Haunted Mansion right by the bride and DS did not want to go on that this trip...Yeah, we made him!

I'm in for a Pop Rock tini! I should really be starving myself for this trip since I am a fat pig but I just discovered that the local deli has the best fries and I sit here eating the remainder of Andrew's lunch...yes, after I already at mine!

NJ Girls...they have the best Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese too! We gotta get Kat some of that!

Thanks for all the kind remarks, guys. Yea, I think my DD is a keeper! She has now encouraged me to get my own pin lanyard in Nov. so I can wear all the pins she's bought me over the years. Of course, it will be just for show - they'll be no trading these gems!
