Like a Bad Meal (V Keeps Coming Back) - THE END! 1/12/09

We only got in the water a couple times, since the air wasn’t that hot and the pool wasn’t that warm, but when we did first get in.... it was love at first step! Why? Two words:

Sand.
Bottom.

If I was a pool-hopping ninny I'd be in that pool in September faster than you can say "I use my refillable mug EVERYWHERE!" (But probably not faster than you'd be flamed for such a statement.)

Number eight was busy doing who knows what, swimming in no particular direction and inspecting specks on rocks. Next thing we knew, Eight came to, looked around wildly and began calling to mama, who responded from afar with a short, no-nonsense “quack.”

So, you what you're saying is, you saw my brother, circa 1989.

Now, I’ve never been a big fan of the GF. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it, either. It’s a little too frilly for my taste. I much prefer the tropical feel of the Poly or the clean lines of the Contemporary. I’ve never stayed at the GF and I’ve never missed doing so.

Ditto. Though now having read your report I'm thinking when we head on over there in September to have our toesies done I may turn that leaf right on over. We shall see.

We eventually made it back to the lobby and headed back upstairs to check out the Basin White store. They sell all sorts of neato soaps and bath things in there. I lasted about twelve seconds before the scents overpowered me and induced the beginnings of an asthma attack. I left and took some lobby pics while Char shopped for some gifts.

Ever tried to shop whilst holding your breath and only taking short gasps through your mouth? No? I have. I LOVE Basin. But it gives me a headache. But apparently my love is stronger.

I’ve missed lilacs since moving to Florida. We had them all across the back fence in the house I grew up in and the scent of blooming lilacs is permanently intertwined with youthful summers in my memory.

BORG! I had them right outside my bedroom window at my parents' house and it used to be the first thing I'd smell on spring and summer mornings. I SO miss this!

About a week after this trip, I came to work and found a cute little box tied with a ribbon on my office chair. Upon opening it, I discovered a lilac-scented soap from Basin White. During my twelve seconds in the store with Char, I’d seen that soap and gushed about how realistic it smelled. I also may have waxed poetic about how much I’ve missed lilacs since moving to Florida. We had them all across the back fence in the house I grew up in and the scent of blooming lilacs is permanently intertwined with youthful summers in my memory.

Sweet, sweet Char had purchased a lilac soap when I left the store and secretly delivered it to me at work via a co-worker of mine. Truthfully, it makes me itch, so I can’t use it as soap. But it sits in my bathroom and every time I smell it, I’m reminded both of summer vacations and good times with my friend.

This was very sweet. One of the few things I don't like about living down here is the missing lilacs and peonies. There are flowers I can grow here that would never make it up north, but I miss lilacs and peonies.:sad2:

Also not long after Trip #2, I got a hankerin’ for some more time with The Mouse. Leo kept asking when we might go back to a water park. Work was getting stressful and I just wanted to get away for a bit.

I know nothing of such hankerin's.:confused3 ;)

So fun reading about the tea! We are excited to try it on our trip. And, we are bringing DD. I think she will love it! :thumbsup2

Another great installment, V :goodvibes

Sounds like it was a relaxing trip, V. :goodvibes

When you mentioned the circle of life, I'm thinking that little duckling's toast! But :headache: he made it!! WTG #8! :yay:

Hey, I thought the iodine was added to the salt? :confused3

Pssst....:ssst: I think tea in Oct. would be nice. :teeth:

You're like the boy in the bubble.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
LY! V!

Thanks for the report on the tea. I have always wanted to take my nieces to the tea as a girls afternoon at Disney.

I have given the GF tea nary a thought until your report and now I am considering it. OK, maybe the fact that you got a glass of sparkling wine influenced me... :rolleyes1 I'm looking forward to hearing about your July 4th trip and how the crowds were...

Whew! about the duck. You had me on the edge of my seat, willing that little guy outta the pool!
:rotfl: You should have seen us all cheering for poor Eight!

Brown water eh? Nasty...I will no longer be able to drink kawfee.
Sorry. I just can't even dignify what WDW serves with the name "coffee." :crazy2:
You're like the boy in the bubble.
I know, right?!
Where's your bubble?
:rotfl2:

the tr's never end.
Seriously! It's like some of kind of addiction for me...

I was just cracking up thinking of you two walking around the pool with your suitcases. Then to hear they had lockers for those things made me laugh out loud.
Us, too! Really, we were cracking up in that stupid locker room!

Great finish for TR #2...I really like the duck story..cause we had a pair with ducklings living in our backyard here in Ky. ... the mom couldnt fly and they mate for life...we moved them out to the country at a friends pond and they lived hapily ever after.
I remember you saying that! So sweet. :goodvibes

He will be a better duck for his trial. :goodvibes
:lmao:

Sounds delicious, of course I suppose you'd need to like tea to go there :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
Bwahahahaha!!!!! LY Jo!

I want to go to the Tea now. Someday I hope to go to WDW with a girlfriend who would enjoy it with me.
Here's something interesting: I think tea would be a lot of fun solo, too. I had a lot of fun with Char, but it would have also have been enjoyable on my own, with a good book. :thumbsup2

I too have a fondness for Lilacs. We had a lilac tree growing in the front yard of the house I grew up in. They always makes me think of that house. And it was my mom's favorite flower too so it holds a special place for her when I smell them too.
Isn't it amazing how scents bring back memories?

:rotfl2: This cracks me up. How does a CM look trustworthy in regards to the weather? popcorn::
Y'know - that's a good question! :rotfl:

My moms favorite flowers were lilacs and they always bloom around Mother's Day.
Wow, you were lucky - we sometimes still had SNOW in May! :sad2:

Ditto. Though now having read your report I'm thinking when we head on over there in September to have our toesies done I may turn that leaf right on over. We shall see.
I will be very interested to hear your take on the GF!
BORG! I had them right outside my bedroom window at my parents' house and it used to be the first thing I'd smell on spring and summer mornings. I SO miss this!
::yes:: We also had rose bushes Right under my bedroom window... :cloud9:

Know why I didn't have a wedding when I got married? I wanted lilacs for my bouquet. Can't get lilacs in FL. That was enough to throw the whole thing off for me!

So fun reading about the tea! We are excited to try it on our trip. And, we are bringing DD. I think she will love it! :thumbsup2
Oh I think she'll love it! We saw a couple little girls in there and they were positively glowing! :goodvibes

When you mentioned the circle of life, I'm thinking that little duckling's toast!
I thought the little duckling was toast!

It was like a fantasy for me. See, I’m allergic to Iodine. Iodine is in salt. Salt is in ocean water. The beach is not a happy place for V. As far as swimming goes, anyway. For much of my life, I’ve thought, “If only I could find a chlorinated ocean!”

My town, village, whatever you want to call it, has a sand bottom olympic size swimming pool. No one uses it. They all think it is gross, because they cannot see crystal clear water. Yet everyone goes to our state parks and swims in the germ-induced lakes though.

I love it. I go everyday and swim laps for 30 minutes. The local kids that swim every day, come over and swim with me or watch, I am their source of amusement for 30 minutes. Their are 6 lifeguard chairs, and only 3 are on at a time, since their are so few swimmers. Our village tried to close it a few times, but the upkeep hardly costs anything, since it is "spring fed" and the liability taxes are low, because it is considered a lake and not a swimming pool. About 10 years ago, a bunch of us moms tried to get the village to make some improvements and make it more like a water park, but they refused to spend anymoney. Our local "Playboy" printer plant" said it would donate all the money and our village turned them down.

Your duck story was really cute. I can't wait to stay at the BC. I'll have to remember to store our luggage in the lockers. I think the day we check out and move to POR we are going to pick a car up for the day, there is "suppose" to be a Space Shuttle Launch at 9:30 at nite. I haven't seen a space launch since I was 8 years old. So I am looking forward to it. I hope it don't get delayed.

Have a good day,
Marisa

Taking a deep breath, I took in the BCV anew, trying hard to notice every detail…

These pictures are fantastic and the way you paint the picture of your first impressions of the BCV would make anyone fall in love with the resort...

I've stayed there 3 times and wholeheartedly agree with your assessment so far.

In my not even remotely humble opinion, SAB is paradise! Can you believe, in all my years of Disney-going, never before had I been within the SAB gates? Sure, I’ve walked by it numerous times, but this was my first time seeing every nook and cranny of the place. And let me tell ya – much like a Thomas’ English muffin, SAB features MANY nooks. And crannies, too. Oh yeah, I knew for sure that I’d be returning later that day for pool time. No question. For sure. Absolutely. Done deal.

I LOVE these pictures...So tranquil, so unlike the normal atmosphere of SAB. I'm wondering if you got to hang out there....

Nope, she's done. But it's probably safe to expect a whole lot more Gator propaganda as we gear up for football season!

Okay, THAT one I probably deserve. ;)

I'm a little late in responding but...eh, it's okay, since I know it will be written in jealousy as we all know who is gonna be pre-season #1...hehehe. ;)

Let me tell ya’ll a little something.

If ever you have the chance to catch Illuminations from the R&C patio…. DO IT!!!

This was us through the whole thing: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Truly, we were stunned. It was magnificent. Stupendous. Extraordinary. Phenomenal. And a whole host of other words that mean, “So good I almost peed my pants!” NOJuliaRoberts.

I actually have seen Illuminations from the R&C patio but, unfortunately, my table was right by the building, so my view was blocked by the canopy that juts out overhead. The people at the table in front of us, invited us to scoot up and watch, but we didn't really want to intrude too much so while we scooted a little, we still saw the canopy. :confused3

Now, my mom and I got to see it from the little area that juts out beside the fish and chips place in December. We were on a bench right by the water and that was really awesome. For the first time ever, I got some great fireworks photos - though that probably had more to do with my camera and my steady hands resting on the railing more than anything else, but the unobstructed view helped. :cloud9:

Yay for #8! I'm glad that he made it out of the pool finally. Poor little guy. The tea looks/sounds fun! What a neat way to end your girls' weekend!

So V .. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO WRITE A BOOK ??

I love to read your reports. I do not need pictures, your use of metaphors, adjectives and an assorted :headache: thrown in here and there makes me feel I like went on the adventure with you.

I found myself wanting to jump in the pool and help #8 duckling, Ready to make a ressie for Tea myself ( and BY MYSELF ALONE) Now HTH is THAT gonna happen:headache:

Now I am wishing I had looked for the shop with the Lilac Soap. I love Lilac's. Mom had then in the back left corner of her HUGE backyard. Our neighbor HAD SOME but cut them DOWN !!! Me.. I honestly do not have anyplace to put them due to Hellacious non landscaping CARP that is in my yard (But I could find a place for a bar of soap.) But I could find me a place for a bar of soap.
Scott FORBID me to cut down the "Manageable" trees when we moved in here 11 years ago( however I caught him gone and took out a Mountain Laural while I was 6 months pregnant:laughing:  ).. now I need a REAL CHAIN SAW , instead of a small electric one, to cut down some 3-5 unnecessary trees.

Why not try to schedule it for you and DD since the boys are going to be doing the train tour....not that I am enabling or anything:rolleyes1
