lightsaber help please

Hi- we are taking my 10 yr old nephew next year for his 1st trip to WDW. one of the things he is interested in doing is "build your own lightsaber". he is the
1st one to be interested in this so i am not real familiar with it. can we do this any other place than Once Upon a Toy in DTD? also how much does it cost?

Right now it is only at Once Upon a Toy. I think it was $19.99. It was neat but nothing really that special. DS made one and when he finished the CM gave him a Jedi pin and some extra light crystals & sound chips. They don't tell you you get the extras until you pay for lightsaber. The idea is to use the "force" and pick the perfect light & sound.

Quite honestly, it isn't that much different than the make it yourself kit they sell at toy stores. But it kept DS busy for about 10 minutes. I also saw somewhere that they are due to come out with a special Mickey handle that you can only get there but I don't know when it will be available.

Like PP said, its only at DTD and its 20$. You do get a pin and you can also make the couble sided lightsaber for the same price. It was nice but nothing different than the ones they sell already made, ill agree with pp on that, but my friends kid thought it was kool to makehis own.

My boys did this last month in Disney. Yes, it is only at DTD in the Once Upon a Toy Store. It is a little confusing at first, but just ask a cast member for help. The most confusing thing is that there are several people crowded around the display just looking at and playing with the parts, even though they are not actually making one. Once we got going though it wasn't too bad. They did get extra sound and light pieces, and made the double-bladed ones, and batteries are included, once you pay. And the Jedi pin! All for $20. Not a bad price for Disney!!

DS made one last week for one of his birthday presents. It wasn't that big of a deal, the CM helped us or we would have been lost. Just make sure to check and see if the light works. When we checked out the CM had to change out the light three different times and finally brought a whole hand full of lights over to the register to make sure one of them worked. Batteries come with the price. With tax and all I think it was around 23.00.

For those who have had their kids do this, how did you get them home?! They look huge, and I'm wondering how we'll fit them into our luggage. Anyone know if Once Upon A Toy will ship them? I can see the money adding up for these.. Cha-Ching!

My boys made these too, and they really enjoyed doing it! I agree that it was confusing...my DH needed the help of a CM, and he's really good at putting things together (he does that for a living!).

I just packed them up in our suitcases, surrounded by clothing. They, and the pirate rifle my DS8 had to have , came home perfectly fine and in one piece!

I'm sure Disney will ship anything home for you for the right price!! But when they are collapsed they are only about 32" long. They fit well in our big suitcase wrapped in clothes!
