Hi all,
Ok - here's the deets on Jordan.
Heard from him today and he's settling in well. Met Darrell (the guy that was checking him in) there last night who took him around the campus and helped him settle in. He's currently in a room of 16 guys (think army bunks, I guess...

) and after 2-3 months, he can possibly move to a room of 4 guys (after evaluation). Also, he can always get moved back to the larger room if it's necessary, so it sounds like they have regular evaluations.
He is only supposed to make/receive 2 phone calls a day, so if you need to call him, PM me and I'll give you his phone number (it's to the pay phone in the main room, so he may or may not answer or be there depending on the time of day). So for now, it's probably best not to call him, but rather write him. He did say that if you did want to call him on a particular day, it would be good to write him and ask him if X day / time is good and then he can write back and let you know... but probably it's best to limit contact to snail mail for now as most of his phone calls will be made to family for the near future (not that you're not "family" but you know what I mean...

)
Regarding care packages: he can receive them, but please note that they go through each and every thing in the package so do not include anything that is even slightly questionable
(read: no peeing pictures, D.Jay, and no pole pictures, Cherie! Hee hee.) even if we think it's funny, it's probably not the best thing.

They're good on toiletries and such, but because he, as well as many of the other guys there are going through financial hardships, he said they appreciate snacks and other foodie items (non perishable - they don't have a lot of refrigerator space), and CDs or other inspirational items, and if you are feeling especially generous, Wal-Mart gift cards are greatly coveted....
Please note: NO reading material (books, magazines, etc.) - even Christian materials - they really limit what they can read at this point so even if you sent it, it probably wouldn't get through. Letters of course are ok... so for now, I think it's best even to limit printouts of PTRs or TRs until Jordan says that's acceptable. I'll let you know when I find out... I don't think he knows everything just yet, so I'll let him acclimate first before inquiring.
Also, he's not able to hang anything on the walls, so nothing that would need to be posted/mounted.
So although we were fearful that it would be 100% detox from Jordan, we will hopefully still hear from him periodically so we won't have to wait the whole 6 months.
Until then, carry on and keep those prayers coming.
Thanks for all your support and will keep you posted.
Wendy
