lightroom beta sharpen landscape preset

messing around( not using that term "messing" lightly either ) with the landscape sharpen preset...and it looks like it over sharpens to me but then i don't really see halos so not sure now if it's the weird fact of lots of tiny leaves etc, if the sharpen does something with exposure as well ( looks blown to me and it's not blown presharpen) just what it did here...so anyone able to tell me anything about that preset?( no help in the beta i can find) i went back and checked thinking maybe i had the sharpening set and it sharpened twice but it looks like it resets to the presets ... i tried it twice and it did the same thing twice...if it's just the preset i won't use it but curious before i write.. or is that right... it off

The built in Landscape sharpening preset has a very high detail setting, so it's not suited to every kind of picture. The presets are not a 'one-size-fits-all' kind of scenario.

The landscape preset works really well looking over mountains in the distance, that kind of thing, but it's overkill on that picture because there's already so much detail. Tone down the detail slider and it'll look much better.

thanks it's an interesting article but dumb ? is camer raw the basically the same setup as lightroom it what works in one works in the other? that would help a lot if they are

another good article but i think i need to rephrase my original ? obviously the landscape preset sharpens ( well duh) but does it make any other adjustments, ie exposure or is it only a sharpening tool?...( and it makes sense in the photo i was using made it look oversharpen, like i said i have been playing with it and no mountains are available to me right now ...i'll have to try it on a lake erie shot and see what it does there)
the only "presets" ( if you can even call them that) would be in WB, (this is camera raw 4.3.1) so not sure how or even if that would apply to the presets ie auto tone, antique light, sharpen landscape, in light room beta. so after 20 mins of typing the question is

what does lightroom beta landscape preset set, sharpen only or sharpen + something else

Sorry, busy week!

Yes, the sharpening in Lightroom are exactly the sharpening in ACR. In fact, ACR and Lightroom are basically interchangeable (although one or two tools are only available in Lightroom).

The Landscape preset only affects sharpening settings. You can check that because when you apply it, the other sliders don't move.
