we have been having some giant lightening storms and last night i tried to take some shots but the lens kept hunting and wouldnt focus and the bulb wouldn't take it ( had worked earlier....)could it be due to the 100-300 mm lens? would you take them basically the same as fireworks?

it takes some praqctice and patience. we seldom get lightning here so i don't get an opportunity to try, but i have in malaysia and viet nam. start with ISO 400, f11, 15 to 30 seconds. manual focus to infinity. mount on tripod and look where they're striking often. there are lots of examples on pbase and other sites - you can look at their exif data for better information.

thanks i am copying that in to my book for the next storm :thumbsup2
