We’re only doing one. My son already has a pretty neat saber (not made in Disney) but the experience looks really neat. Wondering what people who’ve done both would recommend?

The droids themselves are fun, but the experience is missable. I haven’t done a lightsaber yet, but I feel that, unless your son just wants a droid, that will be the better experience. There is also the fact that you can get extra crystals to change colors, but let your son’s interests guide you.

Our son was 7 when when we made a droid. We haven’t made a light saber, but we have watched several videos, and I would say that for a 10yr old the lightsaber build looks a lot cooler. He will also appreciate having that souvenir a lot longer than he will the little droid toy.

Absolutely, the lightsaber experience is the way to go. Regardless of age, it's a really enjoyable thing to do, and you get something solid that will last for years.

My son is 15 and still uses his light saber several times a week. And he used it for Halloween too. The experience was super fun too.

The droid experience is a hands-on thing that's supposed to feel like you assembled something. It's fine but pretty quick and everyone is working independently so it's sort of a room of controlled chaos. The light saber is a little more paced and ceremonial with everyone doing the same steps at the same time. A little more of a community feel to it.

Did both in April. Building a lightsaber was one of the coolest experiences in my life. You actually felt like you were in Star Wars.

Another vote for the lightsaber build. I did it in May and loved it. Even my non Star Wars husband who filmed my build said it was a super cool experience and he is glad I did it. We had the best ’guide’ who made it feel immersive and so delightful. He liked it so much, he told me I should build another one the next time we go.
