I have seen many pics of both the Wonder and Magic. I appears from the pics there are about 20 lifeboats. I was suprised. I had expected more. True I have never cruised before so I am really uneducated about the whole thing. How large are these lifeboats?

I really am not being paranoid..;) just curious really.

There are also life rafts in the white capsul things on deck 5. That is the obstruction from the SPH rooms. I am sure that there are more of those around the ship. They are large inside. We saw one being cleaned out. There are rows of benches with numbers on them.

This is just from memory - but I seem to recall reading on the boats that each on carries 144 passengers, 144 x 20 = 2880, which would cover the passengers. We were told that the inflatable life boats in the barrels are for the crew members.

I've seen the inside of the lifeboats when one was openned for maintainence. You could see it just outside one of the hallway port holes on deck 5.

The boats have both benches in the center and a bench all the way around the edge. While I agree that looking at one from the outside looks like it should only hold 20-50 people, it's laid out to hold much more. Of course no one is going to be walking around and you would be packed in pretty tight. But then these are only mean for an emergancy.

I can't confirm markey's exact numbers, but I can confirm that the boats hold OVER 100 persons each, and that the count is such that all guests have a spot in the lifeboats, and that the inflatables are for the crew that can not be accomidated in the life boats.
