Hi all

Has any body else been completely hooked by the FANTASTIC drama series "Life on Mars"

I have really enjoyed the plotline, and the attention to detail that has been evident from the start. The characters are great, and the acting is spot-on.

It is good to see some quality programming from the BBC. (Oh, and the MK3 Cortina is a real smile inducer!!! :car: :)

Plus, there is the fact that I was growing up around this time and a lot of the sights and sounds used bring memories flooding back!!!
Who can remember the Allegro Panda cars????

Unfortunately due to Big Brother I haven't seen this, although I heard about it, and told hubby and now he is hooked. It is funny looking at the fashions and the cars from the 70's.

BTW I used to have an Austin Allegro, it was white with a brown vinyl roof, and I loved it, mind you I didn't get it till the 90's but it was still a great runner even though it looked totally naff :thumbsup2

I've yet to see a "Timothy Whites" in the High Street though. :lmao:

All the same, an excellent programme.

Top quality show. I think they should play Bowie's Life On Mars each episode though even if only on the closing credits.

I have this saved to watch, might get round to it toninght after Surface.
It does look good, and I love Ford cars from that time period (apart from the Ford Crapi)...takes me back to the 4 mk.1 escorts I used to have.

A truly awful car. My father had one. Handled like a beached whale! I always remember having to start turning the steering wheel 5 minutes before you entered the corner! :rotfl2: Probably the worst car my family ever owned (closely followed by the Crapi I had in 1980).

I haven't seen this ~ When is it on?

We are enjoying this - comes from the same company that makes Spooks and Hustle, two other progs we really like.

Philip Glenister is a fave of mine too :)

Anyone care to hazard a guess how they will get Sam back to the present day - if he ever does get back that is?!

Yes both me and DH can! This is our favourite programme at the moment - ah the nostalgia! Wasn`t everyone poor in the 70`s!

I loved the looks of the 2-door mk3 Cortina...the 4 door was awful though. I never had the pleasure (or pain) of driving one though.

Interesting fact re Capri's, the Greater Manchester Police Force used to fill the boot's on their "company car" Capri's with cement to add extra weight to aid cornering.

I had the Capri Mk2. Front end designed like an inverted wing; the faster you went, the lighter it got!

In the winter I put a couple of breese blocks (sp?) in the boot. Even on a damp summers day you could feel the rear end going on roundabouts. :scared1:

I had an exact copy of the Mk3 Cortina they use in the show. Same colour and everything.
2 litre, 2 door. It was no slouch for it's time. I really enjoyed that car.
