Life is Good

I'm seeing PotC tomorrow in 3-D!!! I've never seen a 3-D movie in the theater (other than Disney World 3-D's :thumbsup2). SOOOOO excited! :goodvibes

Life is good because I am alive, have a family that loves and supports me, and things are finally falling into place financially.

we're on baby watch today, my niece is having her first baby - today! and they didn't find out the sex so it's extra exciting!!:cheer2:

Life is good today because I just presented my year long inquiry project at work.

I focused on partnerships and struggling students and was able to show how I've moved one student from taking > 4 weeks to write a couple of paragraphs to completing a two page essay in two class periods. Not only did I feel amazing about the growth I accomplished with the student, but everyone's mouths dropped when they saw it! :woohoo:

And I got to present it in front of people from NYC DOE! They also videotaped me presenting as well. :yay:

That is insanely awesome. I hope your student and his/her parents appreciate it, too!

Life is good today because I'm going to my first corporate event with DH - a concert at the Apollo theatre.. car service is coming to pick us up and everything.

The student and their parents definitely appreciate what I've done! His mom and I were both in semi-tears at the last parent-teacher conference! Whenever she sees me she thanks me for what I've done for her son.

The student is great. I'm going to miss him tons. He's playing Skye Masterson in our production of Guys and Dolls. I was down at rehersal working on the sets and he came running over to give me a hug and proclaimed to everyone that I'm his favorite teacher. It's nice to have a student say that and know they really have a reason to mean it!

The event at the Apollo sounds fun - who's performing?

Life is good today because I have a husband who loves me and a God who provides all I need. I am blessed with good health, wonderful family and beautiful friends.

If I were any better, I'd be twins!!

And this is why we, as teachers, do what we do. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I just had a great conversation with my mom in which I laughed like I haven't in a while. I appreciate her so much!

Very, very true! :yay: It's amazing for me to look at a student who everyone else is frustrated with and says "ugh" about, and think that I have changed this kid's life for the better because I found a way to reach him. :cloud9:

I have to admit, it's going to be hard for me when he moves on to 8th grade next year. Tonight was our opening night of Guys and Dolls and he's playing Skye Masterson. Before he went on he came over and gave me a hug and was like "Okay, now I'm not nervous."

I'm going to bed, but life is really good today because we had a great opening night and I had the BEST time working backstage moving sets. Then the neice of one of our students asked for my autograph! Excited for tomorrow night's show as well! :dance3:

Just got a job today!!! Only a 3 month contract, but the money is good ($60/hr), location is great (next to subway station) and it could lead to full time after the contract is finished. I'm started May 30th.

Good news, as with 3 kids money was getting tight. Now we can start paying off podcast cruise 4.0, and saving for our next WDW trip, Dec 31st to Jan 11th, BLT. Can't wait to see the New years fireworks from our room.

After a long long long labor, my niece Jamie gave birth to a 7lb,10oz bouncing baby girl!!! :cheer2: Her name is Parker Leigh and we think she's just cute as a button. When her Marine Daddy gets deployed to Afghanistan (:sad1:) in November, Jamie and Parker will come back to NJ and stay with her parents during the time of his deployment, so we'll get to know Parker a little better then. :thumbsup2

I'm recovering from a hip injury and ran a half marathon this morning, finishing almost 20 minutes faster than I finished a half marathon two months ago. Looks like my PT is working!

Bumping this thread for anyone in need of a pick me up today.

Life is good because there are only 4 days left until Memorial Day weekend, and we are headed to a beautiful bed and breakfast in Cooperstown, NY.

Also, my DH and I are celebrating our third anniversary today.

I've got a good job, a roof over my head, and everyone in my family is happy and healthy!

My sister also just got the job transfer she wanted on Friday, so we're all very happy for her.

There's also a three day weekend coming up! Can't wait!

I've had confirmation that the rail-tour that a few of us (absolutely insanely) at work organised last saturday, in support of The Railway Children raised £24,098.

We have been planning this event for more than a year, and everything went off without a hitch.

There were some massive hurdles to overcome (without BORING everyone into submission) certain trains can only go (or cant in this case) over certain routes. The monster we took High Speed Train (HST for short, can be found on wikipedia if you're interested ;)) is not 'passed' to go so we had to get special approval.

Everybody that crewed the train gave their time for free... or donated their wages for the day.

I'd like to say thanks again (surely one of the hundreds of people must've been a DISer) to everyone that helped and gave throughout the day!!!

Some pictures of the day!

A sight believed to have last been in 1994 (but certainly not in this area). 50019 Ramillies rescues 'failed' HST through the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

Just a few missing, but most of the people that staffed and organised the train.

Thanks for reading
