Normally I never wander out of the Creative DISigns or DVC forums. I started posting here before Disapalooza and liked it, so I now hang out here also. I came on this morning and decided to hit some other boards as I had some free time.popcorn::Riddle me this Batman, what do people have to be so mean? :scared1: This is Disney, a place of happiness. Calling someone a liar and a thief is just mean.:sad1: I made the mistake of responding, but then edited my response. I will crawl back into my 3 boards of safety and stay away from topics that look like they may be explosive. I am not a church goer, but when I see posts that are so mean spirited I am tempted to ask, shouldn't you want to follow the Golden Rule
No response needed. I just wanted to vent. Happy Sunday Morning. It's cold and yucky here in Philadelphia. But life is good, I got up this morning and I am planning two trips to Disney. Penny:hippie:

I haven't been brave as you, I hang out here a lot, and then on the trip reports and the UK trip reports boards.. and that's it, I'm afraid to venture on other boards :lmao:. I like it here people is so friendly and supportive! I'll stay here, in the safe side :)

While I agree 100% with what you have posted, I am bound by Dis Boards policies to let you know that the discussion of politics and religion are against the rules.

With that in mind, I have had to edit a line from your original post.

Thanks for understanding.

I frequent this board, the theme parks board, and restaurants board. Once and awhile I'll hit the DVC one. This is most definitely the friendliest section on the DIS although it does have its moments.

I know it's hard to do, even for me, but you have to just ignore the people who are too insecure that they find enjoyment in talking about other people (or their viewpoints). They're really not worth your time or energy.

Personally, I think we should talk to Webmaster Alex about adding a slap feature. This way, when someone says something REALLY stupid or mean, their computer will give them a soft, yet firm slap back into reality. Just an idea...see what you can do! ::yes::

I was thinking more of a "bust their teeth out" feature. :thumbsup2

Sorry Kevin, somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew that. I apologize. Consider it the reaction of being lost in rant moment.

Well I for one am glad to see you over here. I too started hanging out on the unplugged board when planning to attend DAP.

:welcome:

I haven't ventured far out of the this area because it does seem very welcoming. What are the trip report boards like?

While I agree that people can be rude at times, I also think that there is a level of hypersensitivity going on as well. Just because this is a Disney board, it doesn't mean that everyone here is going to agree with everything everyone else says. We all have differing opinions and someone not agreeing with my opinion doesn't necessarily mean that they're being rude or mean to me.

The Community Board is the scary one, the rest are pretty mild (IMHO). Every now and then the DVC board has someone that gets irritated with the same questions being asked over and over again and posts a snarky comment, but someone usually responds asking them to have a little patience.

In a good majority of the cases, you can tell by a thread title whether or not it is controversial. You always have to remember that there are some people that just want an outlet to be rude and sometimes don't even care about the point they are trying to make...not responding is the best stance to take.

These are both fantastic ideas. It'll be like Webmaster Alex's version of the "next generation" technology. I'll bet he wouldn't even need $1.5 billion to get it done.

That hypersensitivity is a factor. But more often than not, there are people who are blatant jerks when they post, which is what often earns them reputations as "trolls".

I agree that the Community Board is the scariest forum here (except the one thread I post to on a regular basis, of course! ) Plenty of people don't know how to be...diplomatic, for lack of a better term.

You'll find fewer people like that here, mostly because the boards are well moderated. Imagine how nasty it could get if there wasn't any moderation? It would bring me back to the early days of the RADP newsgroup. ;)

I have not been to the Community Board. But this makes me curious.
Scary? How so?

I find it scary because people will post the most personal aspects of their lives, things like infidelty, addiction, things that might be better served getting advice from counseling professionals instead of armchair-counselors.

But there are plenty of fun threads that discuss favorite TV shows, books, or friends who like food and wine. :rolleyes1

Thanks everyone. I think you are right about the title. When I saw the title I should have walked away from the thread. :goodvibes Well the good thing is I went and spent some time at the Creative DISigns board which is the calmest board ever. Life is good now. I got up this morning, I have friends, family, a warm cyber community to hang with, a job, a house that is paid off, money in the bank and my health. Things have not always been this good, so I need to not worry about the little stuff and be thankful for all of the good things in my life. Have a great day. :thumbsup2Penny

I clicked on the link in your sig and all I have to say is Wow. Very cool looking artwork. That must blow away a character to sign something personalized like that. Let alone the keepsake value. To keep on message to the thread, my complaint. So where were you when my DD was 6 and an avid autograph hunter? Seriously though, I wish I would have found your work before her 16th birthday trip over MLK weekend.

Since I am not creative at all, I never visited that board. I need to check it out. Better yet, DD likes to draw and paint and I should send her over there.

Please send her over. We are a very nice bunch. Most everyone there will make something that you are looking for. Some people do blanks that you need to personalize yourself. others personalize and won't do blanks and others will do both. we are always looking for new talent so send her over. Penny:goodvibes
PS - thank you very much for your kind words. :cloud9: I love doing the cards and the t-shirts. It's my therapy. Penny
