Life is either a Daring Adventure or nothing at all... 1st ever Solo trip Dec 2024 Trip Report COMPLETED 01/19/25

This year was my first for both parties. I did Jollywood on the 2 and MVMCP on the 3rd. How did you like the Christmas party?
I enjoyed the Christmas party for the most part. However, I was with someone and we did mostly what they wanted to do so I didn't get to do any of the character meets like I would have otherwise. Maybe next year.

Monday December 02 - Jollywood Nights:

Went to get the party wristbands from Muppet*Vision 3D, Stage 1 Company Store. On the way I stopped for some photos. Why do they always make you do the silliest poses 😂

IMG_2092.jpeg

I had purchased a LLSP for Rise of the Resistance, with a return time for 5:15 so I enquired about when the Warm & Fozzie photo op started and then headed to Galaxy’s Edge.
WOW!! What an amazing ride. So much going on, such incredible detail! I loved it so much, and the CM’s were spot on in character which made the ride even better. Seriously amazing!! 2nd best Disney ride (not sure anything can top Cosmic Rewind for me)

IMG_2091.jpeg

I walked about enjoying everything. Checked out the Twilight Soiree and then it was time to go and get my warm & fozzie robotic arm photo op. It was so embarrassing being solo, especially seeing as the whole long line was right there watching, but they were kind and clapped and cheered everyone on. I enjoyed it and as silly as it was I love the results. Can’t share video direct here and I’m not putting it on YouTube 😝

Checked the ride wait times and since it was short I headed to Rockin’ Rollercoaster for the last time 😭 I’m ᴖ̈ they are taking Aerosmith out of the ride but love that it will be a Muppets theme as the replacement

IMG_2093.jpeg

Was feeling a bit hungry so stopped and ate an agent p croissant and hot chocolate. Yummy!!

IMG_1322.jpeg

I was checking times and decided to take meet and greets off my to do list. If the lines lowered then maybe I’d go but it was no longer a priority as I had better ways to spend my time than waiting in a line to meet characters.

I headed back to Galaxy’s Edge and rode Millennium Falcon and then Rise of the Resistance again. Seriously love both of these rides so much.
The line to meet Mando & the child was over an hour so I went to Oga’s Canteen and got in with a 5 min. Wait.

IMG_1345.jpeg

I ordered:
Nysillin & Bubbles with Brub Berry Essence

  • EMPRESS 1908 GIN
  • ST-GERMAIN ELVERFLOWER LIQUEUR
  • BLUEBERRY-LIME JUICE
  • TOPPED WITH TONIC WATER AND GARNISHED WITH AN EDIBLE HIBISCUS FLOWER
the $18.00 price tag & the standing room only was a huge deterrent to me ordering food or more drinks. Was really fun to experience, a cool vibe, but a definite one and done for me.

F1E2C84E-320A-4301-8986-6194117B0E4F.jpeg

Walked about but all the character meets were still too long for me to stand in line for. Watched the fireworks for a bit but my back & legs were starting to cause serious pain.

Hopped on the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride as it was a walk on. Enjoyable!

Wandered around some more and remembered I had put off the Jollywood sign photos so went and snagged one

IMG_1365.jpeg

I still hadn’t made it to watch “What’s This” and "Holidays in Hollywood" , which were the last things on my list of to do’s (since I already gave up on character meets), but I was physically done. I think because I already watched both online I didn’t feel super motivated to stick it out through the pain.
Would have been nice to see them but it was a more appealing idea to head back to the resort early and miss all the crowds at the bus (it was just me and another lady who had the same idea).

Even though I had to remove things from my must do list I had the best time. I Love Jollywood Nights, the whole vibe, the atmosphere, it was spectacular and would love to go again another year. 👍🏼👍🏼

Back in room I had a nice video chat with home, ate my gross food I bought on the way out of park (some Starbucks spinach omelette that may have been tasty had I ate it when I bought it instead of waiting to get back to room), took a much needed epsom salt bath and popped some pain killers. I have a partial rest day tomorrow, no parks and the MVMCP in the evening. Excited to get some much needed zzz’s.

That is the biggest thing I enjoyed about this solo trip. Normally I go with my daughter and even though she’s 22 I still always try to do everything she wants to do and fit in my wants last if there’s time so this has been quite liberating. Perfect example, I had wanted to meet Santa stitch and Duffy but didn’t like the lines so chose to skip it but if I was with my daughter we would have waited in the lines and wasted time that I had happily spent doing what I enjoyed.

There just never seems to be enough time to do all the things at the parties. Sounds like you made the most of yours. I’ve not been to Jollywood Nights yet, might have to give it a whirl!

I am content with what I accomplished, it’s unfortunate that I suffered a back injury before the trip that was not completely healed yet so all the walking did trigger significant pain. I had brought my prescribed muscle relaxers and pain meds but they make me sleepy so could only take them once back at the resort. Had I been healthier I would for sure have got the last two shows done, all the same I have nothing but very happy memories from the party and recommend it 100% not the same feelings I had about MVMCP, but I’ll post more on that soon.

Tuesday December 03: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Today was a no park day. Originally I had planned to go to Disney springs or resort hop, take a swim, or whatever my heart desired but after how much pain I endured yesterday my heart desired rest and sleep. 😆
When I went to bed last night I knew I needed sleep so I set alarm for noon. I just didn’t think my legs could handle walking about Disney springs all morning and then a party all night.

Woke up, texted with k home for a bit, ate, then got ready. I was on the 2pm bus on my way to Magic Kingdom. Seriously my legs are still so sore! Both my calves and shins are throbbing in pain 😔. It really sucks. The only bit of lovely relief is the lidocaine spray someone online recommended.
Life safer! For real! This is going to be quite a week lol

Anyway, Back to the party talk,

Was at Magic Kingdom and in line for the party by 2:30. Got to the front of one of the entry/finger scanners and chilled for the next 1.5 ish hours.

It’s getting chilly earlier today. Last night I was good in my dress until about 8. Then it was chilly enough to put on another layer. I’m already starting to feel a bit chilly and it’s only 3:15. I am hoping it’s because I’m just standing here with no movement in partial shade, but I think I might combine two bags and bring both in case I have to change earlier.

We were let in the park just before 4. Sped straight to Town Square Theater and was about 10th in line. Fun interaction and Jack and Sally, both were very interested in my candy ears lol

IMG_2308.jpeg

After the meet and greet I had to go through the party guest path where we got our party map and our ornament and could meet party characters,

IMG_1400.jpeg

Stopped along the way to my first ride to capture a castle picture ❤️

IMG_2309.jpeg

Off to ride Space Mountain. I totally forgot that it is different than it’s Disneyland counterpart . By different I mean worse lol. Sorry to any hardcore WDW fans but Disneyland Space Mountain is a much better ride.

Next I rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Thankfully a kind lady was giving out rain ponchos and since I forgot mine I gladly accepted. It was super cute theming and the drop is just as wet and fun as when it was Splash Mountain lol. I returned the kindness and gave the poncho to the granny getting on after me.

IMG_2238.jpeg

Next I changed into my Minnie jammies and went to find somewhere to eat. I decided to try Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper canteen. I ate:
  • Curried vegetable crew stew 👍
  • PAO DE QUEIJO - Cheese Bread from deep in the Amazon served with Chimichurri Cream Cheese 👎
  • Jungle Navigation Co. Shandy - Blue Moon Belgian White Ale and Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade👍🏼
IMG_2310.jpeg

With a full tummy I hit a few cookie trails then headed towards the castle to take in the Frozen Holiday Surprise.

IMG_2311.jpeg

Very cute show. Now Tron! WOW!!! It was fantastic!!! Had me debating if it would bump Cosmic Rewind, close but not quite lol. I will definitely have to ride again on my Magic Kingdom day. Loved that the lady I rode with was also in Disney Christmas Jammies so we looked like we planned it lol

IMG_2314.jpeg

Walked around a bit trying to find a spot for the fireworks, but I gave up. The CM’s were very urgently trying to get everyone to move towards the castle and it was just causing people to push and get aggressive. I decided to head back to my resort. I just wasn’t feeling the party. I was starting to feel annoyed by all the rude people. The crowds of pushy rude people and the feral children just running wild. I was so happy with what I experienced and all the beautiful decor and although both the parade and fireworks were on my must do list I just didn’t care to stay for a second longer.
Wish I did but what can you do when your heart wants a hot bath and to be far away from the negative vibe that was in the air 😂

That concludes my first ever (and probably only) MVMCP! Thanks for following along.

Love the pass along rain poncho idea!

How’d you like Skipper Canteen? I’m a big fan of the cheese bread, so good!

I know what you mean about the rudeness when it comes to parade time, no Christmas spirit I tell ya. My daughter had a sliver of space at the end of a taped-off area and this big family kept shoving their stroller at her hoping she would move. She stayed put and when the parade came, all the nastiness melted away and it was pure fun.
Next year we’re going to scope out a spot EARLY! 1734347130480.jpeg

For the fireworks we always do the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party. The parties of one or two people get the seats with the best view. You just relax and enjoy adult beverages (think POG mimosas) and desserts (some savory snacks) and enjoy the fireworks without all the pushing, shoving and kids on shoulders. Do this for any MK fireworks, totally worth it!

I had totally forgot my poncho in the room so my plan was to just change right after anyways but I was so surprised when the lady came and gave them. She had 4 and just passed them out. Totally made my heart happy at her kindness

The fact that I detest seafood and fish makes it quite comical that THAT is the place I chose to eat lol. I loved the stew, the Shandy really hit the spot but the cheese balls were not it for me. Really not sure if it was a texture thing or my brain just glitching as they had this slight fishy aftertaste. Just enough for me to 👎 it was so odd lol I went back and forth with each chew

Terrible!!!
The people were unbelievable. I watched a family yelling at another family and really thought they were going to throw punches. It was ridiculous

I have done the dessert party before and really debated again for this trip but in the end I got too shy about being solo for it. Kind of regret it lol

I'm sorry you had to cut the party short. The parade was super cute and fun. The fireworks were good I think. I missed a lot of it because my legs started to really cramp and I was doubled over, crying. So believe me, I feel you with the leg thing. Boy do I.

Thanks. I wish I could have had the tolerance to stick it out but I really don’t have any regrets. After doing both parties I do believe that Jollywood Nights is the party for me ◡̈

I thought I was prepared for it, had been walking lots at home but nope. I kept thinking last time I was at WDW I didn’t have any issues, until I remembered that I was 11 years younger and about 40 pounds slimmer hahaha

We are all a bit older and fluffier (although I wouldn't call you fluffy by ANY means!!) Part of my issue is dehydration. I developed this particular leg cramp when I was training for the Princess Half marathon. Every night after my long run, I would get these crazy cramps on the inside of my thighs basically from knee to groin. They were so painful I couldn't stand up straight, couldn't lay or sit down, could just basically hobble around crying and rolling the muscles with my ball roller or rubbing ice on them. Since 2018, I notice I get them after I travel long distances - mostly because I don't drink enough while traveling because fluid in means fluid out and who wants to stop that often for a bathroom break?? Since my Thanksgiving trip, I've added a potassium supplement into my daily routine to see if that will help the next time. I guess we will find out Friday because I fly to Minnesota!

Truth! I am in the process of returning to a healthy weight and lifestyle. 40 Lbs down, 40 or so to go. Covid times really did a number on me both mentally and physically so i'm trying to get back close to my pre covid weight

That sounds so painful :( This is is the exact reason I started taking liquid IV daily when travelling as well my DR. told me to wear compression socks after walking long distances while in hot destinations.

Wow do I feel you about Covid. Pre-Covid, I had lost 150 pounds and was working with a trainer on fitness - plus I did the Princess 10K in 2016 and Princess Half in 2018. Covid took away the gym and my motivation and put me back in a depressive cycle. I gained 80 pounds back. But, I'm working with my doctor and in the last year, I have lost 52 pounds. This semester, however, was a nightmare and I turned back to stress eating. Luckily, no weight gain but no significant loss either.

Do you like the liquid IV? I haven't tried that. And compression socks are not my friend. I have VERY large calves and they don't fit.

Congratulations! 🥳 Stress eating (as well as boredom eating ) are such hard habits to stop. It always feels like the ability to fall right back to those toxic habits is right there on the edge still within reach so I know how hard you have worked to see your successes. Here’s to continued healthy choices for us both in the new year! 👊🏼

Do you like the liquid IV? I haven't tried that.
I tolerate the liquid iv. I am working my way off a nasty Pepsi addiction (I read in your trip report you also had a nasty pop addiction so you know my struggle here too) so any drink without carbonation is a challenge but I force myself to drink a 1L bottle of water before I can have any Pepsi so that has helped to reduce my intake. With the liquid iv it tastes ok but is always something I am forcing myself to drink (same with water in general). The one I “like” the best is the popsicle one and I had no problem drinking one packet in my water each day of my trip.
IMG_2349.jpeg

And compression socks are not my friend. I have VERY large calves and they don't fit.
I admit I do have small calves in comparison to the rest of my legs. My daughter (who also is on her own health journey and has lost 80+ Lbs so far) has thick calves and when we fly she uses socks I purchased on Amazon, 3 pairs for $29 CAD, and they fit and work great

IMG_2350.jpeg

She has size 10 feet so the thigh/foot size worked for her but the reviews did state that those with smaller feet had issues with foot being way too big.

Wednesday December 04 2024

Today I had early entry plans for my 4 parks 1 day, day but my body said No Way! I changed my Lightning Lane passes to start at a later time and slept in until 10. Woot woot!!
Got up feeling refreshed and oh so happy. Quickly got ready and hopped the bus to Animal kingdom to officially start my 4 parks one day adventure.

Animal Kingdom:

Park Icon Photo - The Tree of Life
Ride Photo - I chose Expidetion Everest because it's my fav :)
Park Eats : Joffery's

My 1st photo, with the park icon, Who doesn't marvel at the tree of life!

IMG_1497.JPG

Then off to use my 1st lightning lane - Na’vi River Journey. Loved it. It was such a beautiful and relaxing ride. Will enjoy it again on my Animal Kingdom Day 👍🏼

My next Lightning Lane was for Expedition Everest, but I had time to fit Dinosaur in first. I Roamed around Dinoland , really took it all in and made sure to snap some pics of this adorable land that will soon be no more ᴖ̈

4c.jpg

I Made my way to Expedition Everest, it was just as awesome as I remembered. Another ride I plan to ride again on my Animal Kingdom day.

IMG_1533.JPG

Now it was time for some Joffrey’s to get a seasonal white chocolate gingerbread mocha for my 1 eats. It was as tasty as it sounds 🤤

BD307636-23FC-4588-854E-0CC2064264F2.jpg

That concluded my AK time and I headed to the exit. The original plan was to take an uber to Hollywood Studios but the bus was right there. While in line for Dinosaur I had booked Millenium Falcon, Smuggler’s Run for 2PM, so since i was leaving at 12:50, I had enough time to bus. Save some $$ and all.

Hollywood Studios:

Park Icon photo - The Chinese Theater
Ride - Millenium Falcon Smuggler's Run
Eats - Green milk (but why does it look yellow???)

While on the bus I had also booked Jingle Cruise for after the fireworks because I skipped it at the party yesterday and really did want to enjoy the Christmas overlay.

Made it to Hollywood studios. Still had loads of time so I headed to Galaxy's Edge, wandered about and took some photos. Hung with Rey for a bit, avoided some storm troopers, you know, the usual day on Batuu

4b.jpg
Then decided it was time for a snack. Because I had already tried the Blue Milk I just had to try the green milk. I prefer blue ◡̈

EBBA6B00-0A75-4262-8C95-31F86C59B3C5.jpg

While enjoying my green milk I was lucky enough to experience an amazing adventure with Vi Moradi as we tried to hide Rey from the stormtroopers. It was so much fun. I was recording, but was more worried about being in the moment than recording properly .

After that awesome experience I rode Smuggler’s Run.

IMG_1599.JPG

This time it was the pilots first time and we crashed soooooo much. It was hilariously fun. Haven’t laughed that much in a long time.

Then it was time to hop the skyliner and headed over to Epcot for park 3/4. - I really love being the only one in a gondola ◡̈

Epcot :

Park Icon Photo - Spaceship Earth
Ride Photo - Soarin' (sort of)
Eats Photo - TurkeyPoutine

Walked around Epcot, had to check out the Canada pavilion . Got my Canada pin and then it was time to eat. Had to try the turkey poutine for my eats- It was sooooooo good. I let a nice couple from Jersey share my table. We had great conversation, It was really nice.

8FAB8BD2-CB57-4F91-8B38-8280C82268A5.jpg

Headed to my Lightning Lane for my 1 ride, Soarin’. Always enjoyable BUT without the yummy yummy orange grove it was a bit disappointing :( The ride photo turned out horrificly and as much as i love a good laugh at myself there is also a child i don't feel is right to share... :)

Took a few more magic shots, got the park icon pic

48382E09-B9E1-4E61-8195-86C03A7C6111.jpg
and then hopped the monorail to magic kingdom (well a monorail to the TTC & then another monorail to MK lol )

Magic Kingdom:

Park Icon Photo - Cinderella's Castle
Ride Photo - 7 S=Dwarfs Mine Train
Eats Photo - Chicken Strips, Fries & a Sully Slush

As soon as I arrived I grabbed the castle photo (i'm out of space for photos so i just combined all the Magic Kingdom here).

4.jpg

Rode Big thunder mountain, which is always enjoyable, then rode the little mermaid which was really sweet. Then I wandered back and forth around the park trying to decide on fireworks or more rides.

It was soooooo busy for fireworks I was genuinely starting to feel claustrophobic, and again the crowd was super rude so that my mind up for me. That and 7 dwarfs mine train dropped to a 25 min wait. ◡̈
I had a plan, finish 7 dwarfs then speed to Tron to finish the night.

Now as i stood in the 7 Dwarfs line I realized from the talk around me, that every single person in the line might have that exact same idea lol so if Tron jumps in time instead of drops then I’m just going to grab my eats and officially complete this 4 park one day challenge!

Seven Dwarfs was amazing, the fireworks started going off as I rode and it was breathtaking 😍 when I got off Tron was at 60 min (which is more than I’m willing to wait for any ride) so I decided to grab something to eat at cosmic rays and watch the rest of the fireworks indoors through the window.

As I ate I saw Tron jump continually and once I was done eating & the fireworks were over it was at 120 min! There was still over 2 hours of park time left and all the crowds from fireworks looked like they were headed to Tron. It was weird to witness flocks of super focused people beeline in the direction of Tron. That was enough for me to just be done. I made my way to the front of the park, stopping for a pic with the tree then hopping the bus back to my resort. Time for a nice hot epsom salt bath and some much needed zzz’s

This time it was the pilots first time and we crashed soooooo much. It was hilariously fun. Haven’t laughed that much in a long time.

Then it was time to hop the skyliner and headed over to Epcot for park 3/4. - I really love being the only one in a gondola ◡̈

Epcot :

Walked around Epcot, had to check out the Canada pavilion . Got my Canada pin and then it was time to eat. Had to try the turkey poutine for my eats- It was sooooooo good. I let a nice couple from Jersey share my table. We had great conversation, It was really nice.

As soon as I arrived I grabbed the castle photo (i'm out of space for photos so i just combined all the Magic Kingdom here).

Rode Big thunder mountain, which is always enjoyable, then rode the little mermaid which was really sweet. Then I wandered back and forth around the park trying to decide on fireworks or rides.

It was soooooo busy for fireworks I was genuinely starting to feel claustrophobic, and the crowd was super rude and the overall vibe was frustration and anger, so that made my mind up for me. That and 7 dwarfs mine train dropped to a 25 min wait.
I had a plan, finish 7 dwarfs then speed to Tron to finish the night.

Now as i stood in line I realized from the talk around me, that every single person in the line might have that exact same idea so if Tron jumps in time instead of drops then I’m just going to grab my eats and officially complete this 4 park one day challenge!

Seven Dwarfs was amazing, the fireworks were going off as I rode and it was breathtaking 😍 when I got off Tron was at 60 min (which is more than I’m willing to wait for any ride) so I decided to grab something to eat at cosmic rays and watch the rest of the fireworks indoors through the window.

As I ate I saw Tron jump continually and once I was done eating & the fireworks were over it was at 120 min! There was still over 2 hours of park time left and all the crowds from fireworks looked like they were headed to Tron. It was weird to witness flocks of people beeline in the direction of Tron. That was enough for me to just be done. I made my way to the front of the park, stopping for a pic with the tree then hopping the bus back to my resort. Time for a nice hot epsom salt bath and some zzz’s
It’s so sad that the fireworks and parade crowds bring out the worst in people. ☹️. Again, that’s why I recommend the dessert party just to avoid the pushing and shoving. Even solo people do it 😊

If I ever do a MVMCP again I will take your advice for sure ◡̈

We had such an easy time setting up for the party fireworks a couple of weeks ago. Sorry you encountered trouble!

We grabbed a spot where we could sit alongside a railing, and I went and picked up supper. This was about 45 minutes in advance. The people around us were very nice.

Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing. Loving the pictures too. Looking forward to any tips/recommendations you might have or done differently too.

You packed a lot in considering your back/pain. Thank you again.

Being solo made hunkering down a challenge with nobody to save spot to run to bathroom or get food so I couldn’t do a big wait and when I did go to find a spot, prob 30ish in advance is when I ran I to the negative vibes. I’m not sure if it was just the vibe in the area I happened to be in but even the CM’s seemed annoyed with everyone. There was just so many pushy and angry people. I honestly wouldn’t have been surprised if a fist fight broke out, it was that kind of vibe in the air. I have talked to other people at the same party who also experienced the same negative vibe and some who thought it was magical and fun, so sadly I must have just been stuck in a bad area. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I still have good memories of a lot of the day just not something I’d jump to pay money for again.

Thank you for following along and the kind words :) This was my first ever solo trip but I’m sure it won’t be the last.
I will definitely think on tips/recommendations and regrets and get back to you on that ◡̈
