Do you let your books get overdue at the library??? How much do they charge?

We can renew our books online, so it's very rare that they are late. I think the fees are .10 per day for children's books and .25 per day for other books.

We have a maximum fine of $5.00 per card until the fines are paid. I know this from experience.;) It's the video rentals that add up quickly and don't have a ceiling -- $1.00 per day per video. That one usually gets us once in a while and then I have to kick myself for not remembering.:scared1:

They don't charge a fine for overdue books at our library. I never understood why, but they don't.

I rarely go to the library any more. I will go to a garage sale and get books or go online and get them for half price or go to a half price bookstore where I can return them for credit.

I have hundreds of books and this way I can read them at my leisure and don't have to worry about getting them back on time, even though I go through a few a week.

The only overdue item I have had was when my nephew forgot to return a video I let him check out on my card. My SIL paid the fine when she returned the video. I usually do renew them...especially if I know I can't make the return date.

one of the benefits of having a father who worked at the library was never having to pay fines!!!!!
The fines up until this pasy July first they were only 5 cents and that included videos, dvds. cds and tapes,
Now the fines are up to 10 cents for books and the rest are $1.00 allthese are per day!

If my bboks are now late i will go to someone who knew my dad and she will waive the fine etc other wise I have to pay:(
Usually I renew and put holds on my books at home!! Only go to the library to get out books

The library where I work does not charge for overdue items. We strongly encourage patrons to return overdue items especially if someone else is waiting for it. However, once a patron is billed for an item, they can't take out anything else until they pay for it or return it. At my town library, it is 5 cents a day for books and 50 cents a day for videos up to $5.00.

Here's my local library policies:

Most items are checked out for a three week period. All material may be returned at any branch location. There is an overdue charge of 10 cents a day per item, except videos. There is a late charge of $2.00 per day for videos. The maximum fine for overdue books is $5.00. There is a maximum fine of $10.00 for videos.

Items may be renewed one time (in person, by phone, or online) unless someone else has requested the item.

We can also search the online catalog and put items on hold. So convenient!

I always return the books and stuff before their due dates. I'm not sure of the exact daily overcharge, but I do know the maximum charge is however much the library paid for the book/movie/audio.

Our over-due fine is 25 cents per day. They are renewable on-line, if no one has a hold on them. I take my Mom to the library quite often because of their selection of large-print books.
