We are already looking to book a few breakfast character meals and dinner at Ohana, but I'm looking for one more sit down meal for lunch. It would need to be in MK or HS. I had originally planned to do 2 quick counter service lunches those days, but the more I think about it the more I'd like to do one more sit-down (we are a group of 9 with ages ranging from 1-60) I haven't been to either restaurant. We're looking for really good food and a fun, "quaint" atmosphere (as opposed to a bigger place, like CP). Any advice?

Been to both. I prefer the casual/contrived rude waitstaff and comfort food at 50's Primetime. My wife likes the family style (Thanksgiving-like) meal at Liberty Tree.

You do get many more menu choices at 50's Prime Time and the atmosphere is more fun.

The experience at Liberty tree is akin to a holiday meal at home with all the fixin's.

I vote 50's Prime Time, my wife says Liberty Tree Tavern.

Liberty Tree would be my pick. We have eaten at both several times, but the "fun" at 50's really depends on the waiter you get and the last one we had was uncomfortably mean. Liberty Tree has always been consistent for us; good food, good service, and a nice central location in MK.

Liberty Tree at lunch is menu not family style. I think food and atmosphere much better.

Man, I really loved them both this spring, but I think Liberty Tree Tavern wins. LOVE the theme (I'm a colonial history nut), and the food was just fantastic. I'm NOT a pot roast fan, I grabbed as much turkey as I could without being selfish when the food first came, and then had THIRDS of the pot roast. It was amazing and I have NEVER liked pot roast. Even my SUPER picky mother loved it as well. The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is SOOOO GOOD!!!

Not true. You can get the family platter at lunch or dinner. We did it for lunch and had a great time in the AC cooling off for a bit and taking our time eating.

I've been to both and didn't like either. But if I had to pick one, Liberty Tree Tavern. Whatever the dessert we had was amazing. It was a bread pudding thing.

I've never been to LT but 50's Prime Time is sooooo fun! I would think it would be even more fun with a large group. The waiters are funny and will/may give you a hard time. They get onto people about having their elbows on the table, introduce you to the people at tables nearby, tell you that you better eat all you food, I've even seen them make people stand in the corner!:rotfl2:
The food is good, hearty, home style type meals like chicken pot pie and roast. It's one of my favorites!

I don't think you could go wrong at either, honestly. I love both. I think the CS choices are better at MK than HS so I'd probably pick 50's and do CS in the MK. If you go to columbia harbor house you will have somewhat similar theming to LTT and very good food. Also there are definitely more choices at 50's PT and I tend to pick more heavily themed restaurants I can't find elsewhere at WDW... 50's PT is an experience. plus... milkshakes :)

I have to agree.

There are so many options at MK. But there just aren't at HS.

To say nothing of the fact that I love the gluten free fried chicken that 50's Prime Time serves.

Lol! Yes they can be funny, one time our waitress fed my husband string beans off his plate complete with the airplane "open up" technique. Could be creepy or funny...lol! I also have had mediocre wait staff. Regardless we make it a point to go there each trip. We are also going to Liberty Tree on our upcoming trip :-)

And I WAS wrong on the lunch menu. Evidently it changed since we were there last August.

That is a tough choice! I love them both!
The food IMO is similar - comfort foods. I like LTT at dinner, but it's a little pricy so we usually do lunch. Then I get a salad and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. OMG. At 50's PTC, I love their pot roast. DH has tried the chicken and the sampler platter and he finishes so it must be decent. He doesn't complain or rave much. But they don't have a dessert I like, so we just grab a cupcake or cookie sandwich elsewhere.
I have had great service at LTT, and just okay service at 50's. We have never gotten a "rude" server at 50's and that disappoints DD14 and I. I do enjoy watching the antics of other servers, though.
