I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. We ate at Crystal Palace last year and liked it. I thought about going to Liberty Tree Tavern this year. Which place has better food? Which place will be more appealing to kids that age? I currently have reservations for both places. I'd like to choose one so I can cancel the other.

Well, CP is a buffet so there's a ton more choices. Liberty Tree dinner is a set menu that's like a Thanksgiving meal (salad, meat platter, stuffing, mashed potatoes, veggies, and mac n cheese). So I guess it depends on if they'd eat that.

Have you tried the H&V Playhouse Disney lunch at DS? That would be a great choice for that age group. My son loves that one. It's a buffet with the Little Einsteins and Jojo/Goliath.

We have ADR on Saturday for H&V Playhouse Disney. Little Einstein is my daughter's favorite. It's her 3rd birthday that day..we haven't told her we're seeing them. Is the portion at Liberty Tree set? ..meaning once you finish the food they've given you, do they bring more out or you're done. I've got two really really good eaters in our party.

I really prefer LTT to CP! That being said, I don't really care for buffets.

With two little ones, I would think having a waiter/waitress bringing the food and any refills of food you may need to the table would be very helpful.

The character interaction at LTT was also better at LTT. Our CP experience was good, but the characters were more into interacting at LTT than at CP.

this thread is better suited to the main restaurant board :thumbsup2

we went to Crystal Palace a few weeks ago and the choices are so good for everyone....youngsters too.......the characters are pooh bear, eeyore and tigger.......we had a great time and the food was delicious.....
I have not gone to LTT....
I think getting the food in a hurry from a buffet would be good for the kiddos too....

We love the LTT. Our kids 2 & 4 have been a few times and always eat well when they are there. They love the mac n cheese. They will bring fries and chicken for the kids. Character interaction is excellent!!!

I am interested in your comment about the chicken and fries. This would sway my group if my dd would be able to have chicken fingers/nuggests. That is the kind of chicken you are talking about, right? All you have to do is ask???

I would say the chicken is liek a finger. Not a nugget. Yes, just ask your server and they will bring it to your table.

We would definitely pick CP over LTT. And our requests for something more kid friendly fell on deaf ears at LTT. We didn't care for the food (but dessert was great!).

We've done both also and I'd go with LTT. The food is better at CP, but it's easier to have a plated meal than a buffet with little ones.

We did both on our trip in September and I liked LTT better than CP. It was much quieter, we had better character interaction, and the plated meal was nice. One thing I hate about buffets is taking turns getting the food.

We went to both, and while I prefer to be waited on......I think for your kids enjoyment, CP is the place to be. The decor and atmospher at LTT is not something I think little ones would enjoy vs the open and light CP. The character interaction at CP was way better, and the kids all seemed to have fun with the flags and parading. The food options were plenty and dessert so much better at CP. It was upbeat and fun.........LTT was serious and going through the motions.

Another vote for LTT. However with that said - what characters would your little ones most want to interact with?

I have eaten at both and prefer the food at LTT. It was nice to have the food brought to us and not have to be continuously getting up to go to the buffett. (With 3 children, I am constantly up and down at the buffetts.)

As much as I prefer family-style, we thought the food at LTT's dinner was really not very good - think Boston Market at 3 times the price - so for bigger selection we'd choose CP.

We did both last summer (06) and I thought Crystal Palace was MUCH better in terms of food. Both were nice atmospheres and great characters, but I did prefer the atmosphere of CP a bit more. But that's just me.

At CP you have a much wider selection of foods to pick from and everything I had was very good to delicious. LTT is more of a meat and potatoes kind of place. Great if you like meat I guess as it was pretty good for meat, but I'm not a huge roasted meat fan. But IMO the potatoes were not that great and the stuffing was horrid. The salad dressing was tasteless, the bread kind of hard and nothing special. The green beans were ok and as a mac and cheese lover, well I've rarely met a *bad* mac and cheese, just some are better than others. So I filled up on those two things. Oh and I also wasn't impressed with the dessert.

So that's my impression.

I hear you! We go to so many buffets and I am up getting food more then actually eating. Good for me in a way because I don't get the opportunity to eat that much!:rotfl:

Point is, the LTT is a nice change of pace. With good characters, atmosphere, and food.
