Liberty Tree Tavern question

My family likes both lunch and dinner. My youngest DD still talks about decorating her Rice Krispie bar, making it look like a flag. People have criticized the dinner as tasting like Stoufer's frozen dinners (some of it is Stouffers), but we still think it's good tasting food. The lunch is good, I've had the salad. We really like the colonial decor, it makes you feel like you're really inside an old New England tavern. When the hostess calls your name, they also recognize the state you are from.

We were just there last friday and really liked it. It was our 2nd time there and have really liked it both times. Both times were for dinner. I think if you get an early dinner it will be better. Since it all pre plated I think they fix all the food early and then just keep it warm. I have heard people complain about dry meats and luke warm sides but all of our food was hot and the meats were all nice and juicey. Last week we had our dinner at 4:30.

We have only gone for lunch - but it's a must do on all of our trips. I will say that the last two years, we have not enjoyed it as much. Years ago some of the lunch items were incredible. I remember one Thanksgiving having this fabulous special that was like art.

Last year I got the pasta dish - just ok. The year before that I got the sandwich - again just ok. Seems like I remember it being sort of cold and not that tasty.

Years ago - they had a fabulous pork chop dish that was to die for - and I never order pork chops. Seems it had a sauce over the top (maybe apple something?) but it was so good. Then they had a salmon over pumpkin bread with squash sauce (something along that lines) - it was fantastic. They don't have either of those dishes anymore :(

They also used to have honey butter with rolls (we loved these) and sweetened ice tea. They don't have either anymore. It's a shame because it really used to be better than it is.

That said - we still go for lunch. The kids love it here and I keep hoping I'll find that next - to die for dish.

We went last year for dinner and the food was suprisingly good, IMO. It was like Thanksgiving dinner (only better, I thought). DD9 especially loved the Stouffer's mac & cheese.

Since we were only a party of 2, I felt we got the short end of the stick with the characters. In fact, we had to have the handler interupt some of them between tables because they'd skipped right past us, and we were done eating and waiting and waiting for them to make the rounds again. But this wasn't the only place we experienced that for a character meal, and I really believe it's because we were a small party of 2 without a young child (DD was 9).

The food was so good we booked it again this year.

We will be going back for the third time in Dec. We are sad to hear it wont be a character meal anymore because we always had great interaction with the characters and always saw each of them more than once. We really like the food, really good salad and our meat was always cooked just right.

We have one of our BEST memories there. My sweet daughter who was 2 1/2 at one trip looked right at Chip (she called them chipanddale...like they were both named the same) and said..."You are so beautiful"! It was SO cute, he pulled up a chair and sat down and hugged on her for a few minutes. It was so cute!

We are going there for lunch in 2 weeks. I'm glad to hear some good reviews. We have never been there before!!!:) :) :)

It's pretty good. Like a PP said, you can taste some of the Stouffer's in it but it's not a bad thing. Hope you enjoy.

We did not enjoy lunch. This is a few years back however: I had some kind of turkey sandwich (not real turkey, the cold cut kind that isn't very tasty). My kids had macaroni and cheese (at least they said it was that). It was all squishy and soft - it looked like orange soup. And, it was cold. We have no problems in asking for a replacement or to reheat, however, our server disappeared the entire time. We never got refills. We never SAW him except when he dropped the check at our table. Fortunately, I was able to talk to the manager who took the two kids' meals off our bills. He couldn't do anything about my sandwich, though. I didn't ask. I ordered it expecting something else. My husband liked his pot roast though. Me and the kids ended up at Casey's having a hot dog!

It might have been a bad day for the food and the server. I usually give places a second chance. But, I still have nightmares about that macaroni and cheese. I can't even describe it properly. Like orange mush. It was that bad. The kids wouldn't dare taste it...

Tons of folks love it. I adore the atmosphere. It is quaint and fun. The bathroom is kind of hard to get to though. It is up a very steep staircase (unless they moved it). It is worth a shot.

Sorry to hear you were skipped over...we were there Sunday 8/31 and had lots of fun with the characters (we're a couple of 52 yr olds.)

we also had the honey butter with the hot rolls last week (8/31/08)...and the rest of the meal was very good, too.

I think it offers something a little more "homestyle". I know I eat a lot of burgers and fries while visiting WDW and I enjoy eating here. It's a "must do" for us on MNSSHP night.

I especially enjoy the turkey/gravy and "real" mashed potatoes.

Lunch is a standard menu, and dinner is a "prix fixe" family style all you can eat Thanksgiving dinner.

MISCONCEPTION: the only Stouffer'sproduct on the menu is the mac-n-cheese, nothing else. This is because Stouffer's sponsors the restaurant.

Rolls and honey butter are available by request (free) at lunch and included with dinner without asking.

New chefs have recently tinkered with the dinner meat recipes and addressed the "dry meats" issue. The flank steak is marinated differently and is exceptional (a juicy marinade instead of dry rub). The ham/pork loin has a newer pineapple glace to kepp it moister. The carved turkey breast has also improved. I think the positive reviews from recent diners is a good sign.

For lunch, I recommend the Pot Roast or Colony Salad, the two specialties of the tavern. Compliment this with the newer Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake desert, a guest favorite.

LOVE dinner at LTT. YUMMY food, great atmosphere. Heard they are doing AWAY with characters which I think is a real shame. Our interaction late August was WONDERFUL and ALL 8 of us, especially the teenagers had a "blast" as they said.

Honey butter, salad, mashies are:jumping1: to DIE for, YUMMO!!

lunch for us!

crab cakes, pilgrim's feast (turkey dinner), chocolate cake (if available)

no more honey butter and rolls???

thought if you asked, they'd bring them....
