I just read that the Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer be doing the chracter dining. This brings it down to two restaurants in the MK that will do character dining, right? CRT, and the Crystal Palace. Isn't in strange that the park where most the kids will be will not have a character dining with Mickey, and Minnie?

Do you think they plan on adding character dining somewhere else in the park? I know Chef Mickey's is a monorail ride away, but there should be something else inside the park.

Any idea?

Yeah even though we never ate in LTT it always looked really busy, so yeah I think it is just the 2 remaining inMK now. I haven't heard of one opening any time soon, but u never know!

We ate there last March and it was so much fun. The characters spent alot of time at each table, the kids loved it.

It's our favorite character meal and I couldn;t even get an ADR this past trip. I hope they change thier minds about it..

I had read this too but the 2009 Disney Dining Plan brochure I printed off the Disney World website shows it still being a character meal. I printed it last week. I can't remember when I read it was supposed to stop. Was it sometime in 2009? If so, that's probably why it's still on their website.

1) Look at it from the opposite view.
. . . Where in MK can you eat a quiet and realxing meal?
. . . Not bothered by characters?
. . . Not bothered by kids running around to/from buffets?
2) I want to visit parks and eat a good meal, and not just sandwiches.
3) I think reducing character meals in parks is a good idea.
4) At character meals, you overpay for the food to get the characters. *

* I do not think that anyone can claim there is good food-value-for-the-price at any character meal. Without the characters, the food is at least double its true value. Who would pay $20-$35 for a breakfast buffet without characters, and up to $35 for lunch?

Nope, characters are gone as of January 5.

I am personally of the opinion that there are too many character meals, but I wouldn't go to LTT for dinner whether it was a character meal or not, so no comment on this one.

I don't see any indication that the price of the meal is going to be reduced (or the menu changed) when they remove the characters - won't it be interesting to find out.

Seriously - MK is all about the kids. The Character Meals are all about our kids - it makes them happy and that makes us happy (sorry if we're the minority, but we go to Disney to see the smiles on our children's faces). If you want a quiet place to dine and not be bothered by kids - then don't go to Disney and choose a character meal or don't go to MK.

Many people who travel to WDW and the Magic Kingdom don't have children. If MK was for kids I'd never go there. It's for everyone.

That said, I think it was done as more of a cost-cutting measure than trying to provide alternative dining experiences.

Are you serious??? MK is not all about kids-it is for everyone!

Disney is for everyone. We have no kids and go a couple times a year. I love Disney and love the MK. So let's not turn this into a Disney is all about the kids thread :thumbsup2

Let's stick to the topic of LTT and no more characters. I too will mmiss the characters. Was the food the best? No, it wasn't. But we liked the characters. Without the characters we will not go back to LTT unless there is a significant upgrade to the menu

I'm hoping they'll change their mind and bring them back later.

LTT is one of our fav TS meals...we will miss the characters but will still go without them. :thumbsup2

While I understand that people need relaxing meals at MK too, I just don't think that LTT was the character experience to take away. It should have been the Crystal Palace meal. A meal with Mickey and Minnie SHOULD be at MK, the most kid-oriented park. (not saying it's just for kids, but it is the most kid-oriented)

I'm probably in the minority - but I'd love mickey and minnie to be in the castle for at least one meal!!:thumbsup2

With two boys, I don't think we'll ever eat in the castle whilst it is only princesses - could they not mix it up a little bit - say breakfast with mickey and dinner with the princesses???

We ate there for the first time last April with our 2 kids-- 15 and 18 at the time.
We had lunch where there are no characters at LTT.
We really enjoyed it and thought the food was good!

I do agree that only having one character meal in MK seems strange.
We also had a lunch at Crystal Palace during the same trip.
I bet they will add a character meal somewhere eventually.

They should not remove the characters from LTT. This is a big mistake. :(

We ate there on 10/19. It was a fun experience, before MNSSHP. We definitely wouldn't return, if it wasn't for the characters though. The food is edible, & that's about it.
