I want to make sure I'm understanding the Liberty Tree Tavern lunch menu correctly. So, you can pick either the buffet or the other entrees? Any opinions on which is better?

Also, we are giving up a BOG reservation for the Liberty Tree. We've done BOG lunch before and were underwhelmed. Plus we like having a server because we have small children and the "cafeteria" style is difficult with all the little ones and the strollers. I want to give BOG another try but thinking Liberty Tree may be better...?

It isn't a buffet, it is a pre-plated meal. At dinner it is served family style, in big serving dishes that you pass around. At lunch they bring a plate of all of the same foods. I do like the option of having that, or some of the other menu items. The burgers are very good, as is the pasta. And don't pass up the ooey gooey toffee cake for dessert!

We are going next week for the first time for lunch. It's the a la carte menu that draws us (we don't want AYCTE meals), it'll be the pot roast and ooey gooey cake for me. You are right about cafeteria style at BOG, it's a pain with children. This way you can sit together and stay together while you order and eat. We have done lunch twice and dinner twice at BOG and preferred dinner for that reason.

I am also curious about this. We had LTT dinner reservations, but ended up cancelling because most in our party did not want AYCE. Lunch was a little confusing because some can get the AYCE and others can get a la carte? What stops the a la carte people from digging in to the AYCE meals?

We were bummed we did not get to try the obey gooey cake!

The AYCE is not brought out on the same large platters for lunch as it is at dinner. It is brought out on one plate. So maybe what is keeping the a la carte people from digging in is fear of the owner of that plate stabbing them with their fork.:teeth:

Plus the servings are not small. If you order something else you won't have room for helpings of the AYCE food.

We went for lunch last week, and enjoyed it.

I had the pot roast and my husband had the colonial salad. Even the entrees were a lot of food!! Many around us were ordering the platter. We, on the other hand specifically booked lunch since AYCTE is way too much food for inside the Magic Kingdom.

The beauty of AYCTE is you can eat as much OR as little as you want. Nothing says you have to eat a ton - nothing other than people's minds thinking they "have to get their money's worth" or "stick it to the man" that is.

I love the Liberty Tree lunch menu - I almost always get the pot roast - though I also find the salad and burger to be great. Never had the other choices. We don't go for the AYCTE option at lunch - it just makes us want to eat more than we need to - and we don't care for their stuffing or turkey as much as some of the other choices.

We have lunch here on every trip and its one of our favorites. As we like to keep Thanksgiving to just one day a year, we do the a la carte menu. Favs include the sweet corn fritters, colony salad, fish and chips, and burger. And of course you can't leave liberty tree without having the amazing ooey gooey toffee cake.

As a mother of a 6 year old I can attest that liberty tree is a much better and easier dining experience than BoG lunch. To be able to sit down and take a break for the parks, while being served, is something I'd pick over getting my own drinks and underwhelming food any day of the week.

I adore LTT freedom pasta, I always make lunch ressies here just for the pasta and the ooey gooey toffee cake! Sure most restaurants have more "ambiance" but here its good food that makes it a great choice

My "go-to" meal at LTT lunch is the entree salad (Declaration salad?) and ooey gooey toffee cake. I don't even look at the menu any more!

Family "loved" LT. Our change was due to the fact when we went in back in October to get out favorite prime rib on property, there was only one problem. We were told by the CM they no longer served prime rib?! She said they had replaced it with pork roast. Hum......"Let's change the menu from prime rib to pork roast. They will never know?"

When did they make this change?

Not sure when the change was made, but the menu clearly says pot roast.

I like the place but I am old school. I liked it better when it was a character meal (with a degree in history I got to drive my daughter crazy).

We haven't done many AYCTE meals since both of our kids are Disney adults because it does add up fast. On our last trip, we had the dinner package at Tusker House for dinner for the Jungle Book show. My then 15-yo son asked if we were really paying $50 a person for dinner, and we told him yes because of the dinner package. He grinned and said "Challenge accepted". He proceeded to eat 9 plates of food, and they weren't half empty. I don't know where he put it, I was sure he would be sick later, but he wasn't. For the record, we aren't "have to get our money's worth" people.

Love LT.... corn fritters are yummy and so is the burger and fish and chips. So nice to sit down and enjoy a cold ice tea and be waited on!
