I discussed with DH about doing Liberty Tree like everyone suggests. However, with all of the goodies out and about would it not be more fun to just snack on that night and save a PS for another night?
Save it for another night. I would not want to spend too much time in a restaurant when there is so much to see. I know you get herded to Tomorrowland between park closing and the party starting, but in years past, you can get in the park around 4 with your party ticket, you will get a wrist band at that time and while people are leaving the park for the day, you can enjoy some rides!
Once the shows start, it was impossible for us to ride rides and see the shows during the MVMCP because I wanted to see as many shows as possible and the parade is wonderful as well. Getting there a bit early and riding some rides made the boys happy and hubby and I split up and I saved us a spot for the parade while he took the boys to ride the Indy cars and Buzz - worked perfectly!
I prefer eating during the hour the park is closed myself. I've eaten at both LTT and CP. I don't like the idea of being herded into Tomorrowland. I did walk over there 2 years ago at about 6:45p and it was a ZOO so I walked right back away from it.
Some prefer eating counter service instead of a sit down meal. Cosmic Rays was the only counter service open from 6:00p to 7:00p. Other counter services will be open after 7:00p.
There's also Tony's and The Castle (open till 6:00p).
The only free stuff is the hot choc and sugar cookies.
This is our preference also - we did LTT this past October for MNSSHP around 5:20, we were done about 6:30 or so, had 30 minutes to wander around Liberty Square and the hub as we made our way slowly to tomorrowland to get in line for Halloween candy and our photos.
We plan on doing the same for MVMCP this December!
We did LTT for MVMCP in 2004 and had a great time. We ate during the "between" hours and, when we were done, wandered over to the photo with no wait! It was fantastic.
Skip it and do it on another night. It took up too much of our time on our last visit. It took forever to get seated and once seated, I couldn't enjoy myself because we were so behind schedule.
Because of LTT be had to stand at the Twas the night before Christmas show in Tomorrowland.

So, if we don't do a sitdown meal, we don't HAVE to be in Tomorrowland? If my options are being in a sitdown restaurant vs. being herded like cattle, I'll take the restaurant. If I can roam around, I'd skip the meal.

Between 6:00p and 7:00p the park is essentially closed and being cleared out and cleaned up and being made ready for the party so everything is closed except the sit down restaurants, cosmic rays and Tomorrowland.
They will ask anyone not eating in a restaurant to go to Tomorrowland so they can better clear out the park. So if you don't want to be in Tomorrowland from 6:00 to 7:00 then you might want to have a PS at one of the restaurants.
