Saw this stroller on one of the websites renting in the Orlando area. In the past we have rented a double stroller each day for our daughter who has low muscle tone, sensory disorders, and other issues which often accompany autism. She is 7 now and about 75 pounds. We have to pad the seats of the WDW hard strollers for her & also the $31/daily price is too much to pay for our multi-day vacation. She was more comfortable in the "sling" type double jogging stroller at the Hollywood Studios, although she is really too long legged for that now.

I have some questions for those who have used the Liberty Special Needs Push Chair....
1. Was the seat wide enough to accommodate a large child?
2. Did it accommodate a 4 ft. tall child as far as the footrest goes?
3. Probably most important to me.....How did it do on the WDW bus system? Is it easy to fold? (She would need to stay in it until just before we physically boarded the bus, so I don't want to inconvenience others by them having to wait through a long folding process.) When folded could you keep it with you while seated on the bus?
4. Does anyone have an opinion as to this stroller vs. a WDW double stroller?

Thanks!

The Liberty Special Needs stroller is made by a part of the Baby Jogger company. It's basically a larger version of the sling type stroller that you used at the Studio (that stroller was a version of the Baby Jogger City Stroller that was made just for WDW).

Here's a link to the page about the Liberty that has measurements.
This page has links to download a copy of the user's manual for the various special needs products.

From what you have written, I think your DD would be happier with this stroller than with a park rental one. Also, the park rental strollers at MK have recently changed - there is a picture in post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

I was able to get a new Convaid chair on Ebay this year, and I use it for my son at WDW, DL, and other day trips. It is wonderful. It is like a big comfortable stroller, sort of. They are insanely expensive though. It was not too bad for us, because Sean is 19 now, and it was an adult sized chair, holds up to 200+ pounds. So, he will not outgrow it. It is actually better than what we even NEED, but it was 1/3 the normal cost, so I went for it. (it was never used, had tags attached, etc)

Before this, we got a companion chair, it is like a wheelchair without the big side wheels. We did not want Sean to be able to propel himself anyway, he has Downs and Autism, and he is a wanderer. The angle of the chair forces SEan to sit back, he tends to lean forward in a wheelchair/comapnion chair, bad for his sciolosis.

Just letting you know, there ARE options out there, as the kids get bigger.:wizard:
