Liberer le souper separe deux (with pics) *Update 11/17 Complete!

It's OK that yopu didn't like the kraut, Buzz. It's definitely an acquired taste!

The intermittent downpours kept the crowds low at Epcot so after a very productive afternoon we headed over to our dinner reservations at Teppan Edo. Our reservation was for 6:05 and we only waited a couple minutes before we were shown to our seats.
This was our last day, and Grammie and I had realized that Alice had never worn the Tinkerbell outfit that she had brought from home. We figured she could wear it to meet characters at Epcot, but then the rains came, so she ended up wearing it for dinner. Not sure what Tinkerbell has to do with Japan, but she was happy. Here she is:

All the CM's here were EXTREMELY polite. One of them did a special little trick with elastics and paper and put the kids' chopsticks together so that it was easy for them to use them. For drinks, Grammie ordered hot tea, I ordered green tea and the kids had lemonade. Here is a pic where you can see mine and Grammie's drinks. The green tea was pretty flavorless. Mostly tasted like water.

Here is our chef cooking the food on the grill.

He looks like he would be very serious, but he was actually quite funny and joked with all the kids at the table. In addition to Buzz and Alice, we were sitting with a family of 4 who had a daughter who looked to be a couple years older than Buzz and a son about Alice's age. He did the usual tricks you would expect at this type of restaurant and the kids all found him quite amusing.
We all ordered from the grill:
Grammie had the scallops, I had the shrimp/ steak combo, Buzz had the kids' shrimp and Alice had the kids' chicken. We all loved our meals and ate until we were stuffed except Alice who was still too full from lunch to eat more than a few bites of each thing. Here is my plate with just the noodles and then one that shows everything. (Sorry about the half eaten rice. :headache: )

Buzz - I liked the shrimp. I was glad there was shrimp on the kids' menu. I liked that they cooked in front of you.

Since dessert was included we went ahead and ordered. There is a pretty limited dessert menu. Grammie had the fruit tart and I had the ginger cake. Our opinions could pretty much be summed up by this  Stick with the soft serve or if you are paying OOP, skip dessert and stop by the bakery in France afterward. These were gross.
The kids' meals came with a packaged chocolate chip cookie.
Buzz - Even their cookies were bad.

Couple of notes:
1)When we were seated, they wanted to put both the kids on the end of the table as that is where there is the most distance between the children and the very hot grill. Makes sense, but Alice + in the evening when she is tired + next to Buzz without an adult to reign her in = disaster. I asked if Buzz could sit on the main side of the table and I would sit with Alice at the end and that was fine.

2) At first I thought that our server wasn't coming back then I realize that the CM's were politely standing off to the side. Just flag them over and they will help you right away. :thumbsup2

We had a great time at Teppan Edo (minus the desserts) and we were fortunate enough that the rains stopped in time for Illuminations and the small crowds meant it was so easy to find a viewing place! All in all, a great last day.

Food: 4/5 (entrees) 1/5 (desserts)
Service: 5/5
Atmosphere: 4/5

Up next: breakfast to go at Movies and final thoughts:goodvibes

Teppan Edo sounds great - looks like there is plenty of food.

Teppan Edo sounds great - looks like there is plenty of food.

I'll admit I was a bit skeptical watching our cook that it was enough for the whole table. But, it was plenty and very fulling. I'd love to try Tokyo Dining some day. :goodvibes

Now comes the saddest part of every Disney vacation: the return to reality. :sad1:
ME was scheduled to pick us up around 9. We had 4CS and 1 snack left so on our way out we stopped at the food court to get breakfast to go. Grammie used the last snack credit and got a cinammon bun which she and Alice ate all of.
I got a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, cheese and ham on a croissant. My sandwich came with 2 drinks so I shared with Grammie. The sandwich was good. Just your basic breakfast sandwich.
The kids each got a child's breakfast meal that came with scrambled eggs, bacon and a side of apple sauce. It also came with a drink. I believe Buzz got O.J. and Alice got milk.
We ended up with one unused CS credit.
We carried our food out and ate it while sitting on benches because I was afraid of missing the ME bus. This was a good move on my part because the bus came just as we were finishing eating.

Final Thoughts:
We had a great week of Disney dining. We were very fortunate to have some wonderful servers and some great food. The only meal I paid OOP for was Kona Cafe. All the others were covered by the free dining plan. Even if it had not been free, I think the dining plan would have still been a good choice for us. The dining plan for children is very inexpensive and a very good deal, especially if you are going to any buffets/ character meals.
We were not very creative with many of our snacks. There were a lot of yummy sounding things that we wanted to try (such as a cream cheese pretzel, pastries from France etc...) but traveling in the August heat, we found that what our bodies needed was cold, liquid refreshments more than anything else and when we would find our bodies getting overheated we would just stop at the nearest cart for drinks or ice cream. I would think you could have a lot more fun with your snacks at other times of the year. :thumbsup2

Just for fun: Buzz and I put together a list of our favorites from the week which can be found in the next post.

Great job!

I really enjoyed reading your dining reviews. We're from Massachusetts as well and are heading to Disney in April with our grammy (just diagnosed with type2 diabetes). I'm hoping our dining experiences are as positive as yours!

Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

Great Job Buzz and Smallworld! I never even thought of eating in Japan at Teppan Edo...we are new lovers of the Japanese steakhouse. We may have to look into that one:thumbsup2
