Liberer le souper separe deux (with pics) *Update 11/17 Complete!

Buzz, I love your reviews...nice and simple and to the point. Can;t ask for anything more than that. Keep up the great reviews!

Oh yeah...and your mom is doing a great job too!

Our reservation here was for 8:00am. Concierge at the resort suggested that we be at the bus stop 45 min. before our reservation. We were. The bus didn't actually come until about 7:40, but AK is very close to the All-Stars so we were there in just a few short minutes. (For those wondering, I saw busses for MK and Epcot while we were waiting.) A CM at AK started checking us in a few minutes before 8, then everyone was let in and we walked to the restaurant where our name was called after about a 5 min. wait. They take a photo of your party here and they come around and try to sell the package to you. Because I had a nice photo of us from CRT, I asked if I could politely refuse and they were fine with that. Just an FYI.

Our seats were in kind of a tight awkward area. We had to squish past other tables to get out and get our food. Not a huge problem for us as we were in the corner, but I felt bad for the six tables that kept getting a nice view of my behind as they were eating. :lmao: IMHO they need to rethink this little corner of seating.

Our waitress was very good. A little daffy but very friendly and efficient. She offered us Jungle Juice (good-similar to Lilikoi juice) and coffee. She kept our drinks filled the whole time and had lots of advice and tips for us on how to enjoy our day at AK. (They were actually very good tips which I, of course, already knew but it was nice to see her enthusiasm.;) )

The food was very good. The buffet area is very extensive with just about anything you might want from pastries to fruit and yogurt to typical items like scrambled eggs and bacon to less typical items like cheese blintzes and carved ham. I can not imagine going there and not finding something that you liked. Even the pickiest of eaters should be happy with the selection and variety here. :thumbsup2 I only have a few food pics:

Character interaction was where this meal fell apart. It was terrible. They rushed through the place barely stopping to take a picture before moving on. I had to yell after Mickey to get him to come back and take a picture with me. Very different then the treatment I got by Eeyore and Belle when I asked for a pic. Alice had on a shirt with all 4 characters on front and not one of them acknowledged it when she showed them. ALL the characters at CP had made a big deal over her shirt.

Buzz - You couldn't ask the characters questions because they rushed right by you with just signing the book and taking a picture. I liked the jungle juice.

Anyway, here are our character pics:

We had time to use the restroom when we were finished and were out waiting for the safari at the rope by 8:45 which means the whole thing lasted less than 45 min. to give you an idea of how quick the meal was. And, that included marching around the room with musical instruments.

Now, don't get us wrong. It wasn't horrible and certainly didn't ruin our day. In fact, we had a great day at AK. :thumbsup2

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Atmosphere: 3/5 (bad table arrangement and VERY loud)

I have to agree with you SmallWorld on Donald's Breakfast. My first time there was a great experience on our Honeymoon, but last year, the character interaction was very poor and turned us off completely. The characters didn't wait for us to get the baby out of the highchair, they just knelt behind him and didn't stay long enough for the picture to not be blurry!

As great as the food was, we won't do that breakfast again because of our experience, as well as some of the other reports (including yours) about similar character interactions.

Thanks for keeping us updated on great dining reviews!

Thanks for the heads up about TH, we have a ressies for 8:05am on a Sunday, the last day of our stay. My niece is a huge Daisy fan and would love to not have her rush over my little niece.

I was hoping in January the crowds would be pretty light and since we would be there at 8am the place might not be too crazy busy.

I just got caught up :) I love how often your daughter eats Mac & Cheese! I eat it so often it's ridiculous! And I'm 23  A tip for when she's older: at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, you can get a "side dish" of it which is a pretty decent sized portion for your meal, add a drink to it and it comes in under $5. Who says you can't find a cheap meal in Disney!

I love that your son is a foodie in the making. It is so cool that he is providing his own reviews!

Thanks for the heads up on the character interaction at TH. We have a ressie there just so I can meet Daisy. I'll have to make sure that I am prepared when she comes around.

Great job, Mom and Buzz!

They definitely need to find the fine line between rushing and not keeping people waiting there forever. They were surprisingly good at this at CRT and CP. Maybe they can send some pixie dust over to the AK. pixiedust:

Nicki, I'll be looking for your report to see how things went. I know you've been to plenty of character breakfasts so I would love to hear another opinion. Although we were among the first people in, the place filled to capacity very quickly and it stayed full the whole time.

Great reviews thanks for sharing!

Thanks and welcome. :welcome:

She would eat mac & cheese every day if I let her! Since I don't let her have it all the time at home, she is thrilled when we go out to eat or on vacation because then I relax the rules. She loves all kinds too. I make very good home made mac & cheese, but she will also eat the boxed stuff as well. Sunshine Seasons is great! We didn't make it there our last couple trips but we've enjoyed it plenty of times in the past. :thumbsup2

Great job, Mom and Buzz!

Hopefully we caught them on an off day - I've seen mixed reviews on the character interaction. But I would definitely be prepared to be aggressive in getting the pics you want. When I spoke up, I was able to get my pics!

I would love to take all the credit for turning Buzz into a foodie, but he's been that way since he was little. He's the only one of our 3 kids who didn't go through a stage where it was tough to take him to a restaurant becasue he was so interested in the food. Shrimp has been his favorite food since he was 2 and he is willing to try anything seafood and has eaten such things as octopus and caviar. And, since he's not here right now, I will tell you that one of his favorite shows when he was a toddler was Emeril Live. He would always yell "Bam" when helping out in the kitchen. :rotfl:

I'm happy to report that I just bought a house yesterday. We are moving tomorrow and Buzz and I promise to finish the reports ASAP but we won't have internet service before Tuesday.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

First off - I love all your reviews!!!!

Thanks for the compliment.:flower3:

I love the classic Mickey stuff. :thumbsup2 I was a big fan of The Mickey Mouse Club when I was a little girl.

We are moved in and back on-line so next update coming tonight.:goodvibes

That is DARLING! Very cool that he is so adventurous.

So, when I left this report last, we were having breakfast at AK. After a very productive morning of touring Africa, Rafiki's Planet Watch and Asia, we needed a pick-me-up.
We stopped at the nearest ice-cream cart (where we ran into some people we know through church.) to get a little snack. Does anyone else run into people they know at Disney? I'm always amazed at how often it happens to me.
Anyway, Grammie and I had an orange juice bar.
DSCN1461_0369_033.jpg

Nothing too exciting, but perfect for a hot summer afternoon.:thumbsup2

Alice had another Mickey ice-cream sandwich.
DSCN1460_0370_034.jpg

Buzz had another frozen banana.

Buzz - More yummo on a sticko.

After a couple more hours of touring we headed back to our resort for a swim in the pool and then headed out to Downtown Disney.

Continued in next post...

We spent the evening at DTD and decided on WPE for dinner. We had eaten there the year before and really liked it. I thought they did a nice job with the renovations, more seating available. For anyone unfamiliar with WPE, it is a CS place where you place your order with the cashier. Then you find a table and your food is brought out to you on real dishes when it is ready. It was a nice evening, so we decided to eat outside.
Buzz and Alice had the kids' spaghetti:
DSCN1472_0358_022.jpg

Buzz - It was simple but it was good.
***Side note: One plate of spaghetti had a lot of sauce and one did not. This was not a problem for us as Buzz likes a lot of sauce and Alice does not care if she has a lot but you may want to say something if your child has a preference. The dish in the picture is Alice's. She took the photo herself. She was very into using my camera. :goodvibes ***

Grammie had the mac & cheese which came with a side salad; she had ceasar.
DSCN1474_0356_020.jpg

This was a lot of food. We all got to have some mac&cheese. It was very good but very rich. Grammie enjoyed her meal, but was unable to finish it all.

I had the barbeque chicken quesadilla.
DSCN1473_0357_021.jpg

This was really good and I quickly belonged to the clean plate club.

I don't have pics of the dessert, but Grammie had a creme brulee and Alice, Buzz and I all had cookies.

A trip to DTD wouldn't be complete without a trip to Goofy's Candy Co. Grammie got a bag of huge malted milk balls (one of her favorite candies) and the rest of us went for the make your own treats. Alice was going to get the marshmallows like she did last year but switched last minute to the large OREO like cookie. Big mistake for a child who at the time had 2 loose top teeth and was missing a bottom tooth. She was unable to eat it and it went stale before anyone else thought to try it. :sad1: I felt bad but she didn't seem to care since there were still goodies from the candy store on main street. If I'd had a real knife, I could have cut it. Here it is:
DSCN1476_0354_018.jpg

Buzz and I choose the pretzels. Each one can be covered with a kind of chocolate, one topping and then a drizzle if you want. I was boring and got mine all the same, covered with milk chocolate, rolled in peanut butter cups and drizzled with caramel.
DSCN1478_0353_017.jpg

Buzz chose white chocolate for his, one topped with Butterfinger, one peanuts, one Oreo cookie and all drizzled with caramel.
DSCN1475_0355_019.jpg

Buzz - Ah! That was so good. Better than the marshmallows. If I get to go to Goofy's Candy Co. again, that's what I'm getting.

Buzz and I ate some that night and the rest at the Orlando airport a couple days later.

Coming next: Our last full day, Sommerfest in Germany for lunch and Teppan Edo for dinner.

That is DARLING! Very cool that he is so adventurous.

It's definitely a lot of fun having an adventurous eater. Last year we were at a World Series party and there were some "adults" looking at the sushi platter and saying things like eewww and gross and he just walked right up and popped a spicy tuna roll in his mouth. It was quite funny. :)

After a late night at Downtown Disney, we decided to sleep in a little before heading to Epcot for our last day. :sad1: Breakfast was the usual cereal and fruit in the room. We had really lucked out this week with very little rain but this day when I opened the door, the sky was very cloudy so we grabbed our ponchos and arrived at Epcot around 12. Our main goals for today were to get Buzz'a passport stamped at the WS countries and see a few missed attractions as well as revisit Soarin. After a couple of hours touring a pleasantly uncrowded Future World we headed to WS. It had been raining on and off but we had been lucky so far to be inside when the rains came. Our luck would soon change.
As we were leaving Mexico, I realized that we needed to stop for something to eat since dinner was just too far away and we were all getting hungry. Well, I was afriad Mexican might upset my stomach, Alice would only want sweets in Norway, and we didn't want Chinese since we were having Japanese for dinner. So, we continued to walk around WS in our quest for food. (France or Morocco sounded good.) Well, we stopped to use the facilities in Germany and that's when the skies let loose. It was one of those Florida deluges where you can't see 2 inches in front of you. After about 20min. of huddling by the restrooms with about 30 other people  it slowed down to regular rain. We donned our ponchos and made a run for the nearest food place, Sommerfest, where Alice proceeded to have a mini-meltdown because she "didn't like anything" on the very limited menu. I ordered for her anyway. We ended up with a hot dog each for Grammie and Alice (Grammie had sauerkraut with hers) and 2 bratwursts with kraut for Buzz and I. We also had 2 cheesecakes for dessert and 2 apple strudels. The drinks here were huge. We had a mix of lemonade and sodas.
Here is a hot dog with some cheesecake:

Here is a bad pic of a bratwurst and some apple strudel:
DSCN1481_0350_014.jpg

OMG! What I thought was going to be a disaster turned into my new favorite CS place! Those rolls were soft and delicious! Buzz didn't like his kraut so Grammie and I loaded it on with ours. It was so good. Of all the foods I ate at WDW that week, a bratwurst with kraut on one of those yummy rolls is the one I keep craving. :lovestruc Everyone finished their dog/ brat, even Alice. (Although I had to cut it up for her as she couldn't get her mouth around it.) Both desserts were good, but the cheesecake was the clear winner in our group and was everyone's favorite. I will definitely return here!

Buzz - The cheesecake was really good and the bratwurst was good too. I did not like the sauerkraut but it was on the side so I just gave it away.

Up next: dinner at Teppan Edo, final breakfast at World Premiere Food Court and final thoughts
