LGMH swiping advice...

We live 3 hours away from the nearest HD, so the other day DH and his friend were in the city at a paintball event and stopped into HD afterward. They grabbed all of the LGMH that they had. It must have looked really cute to see these two grown men trying to sneak all of the LGMH without anyone noticing. He never got home until after I was in bed, but when I got up the next morning he had meticulously peeled each head off of the backing for me:love:

He is a "keeper" for sure!!!:rotfl:

My DBro and SIL painted their kid's room Sonic Boom. It's right next to alien, so it's realy close. I haven't been to their house to see it yet, but I'm sure it's bright enough you should wear sunglasses.

FYI, some DISser's have reported their HD had a paint dept reset adn the whole Disney paint display has been removed. The last time I went to our HD, I walked in, took a 3-4 inch stack; including all the LGMH ones and walked out. Thankfully we know the store manager so if any one would've stopped me, I would've been able to get out of trouble.

So now that I know what LGMH's are and what they unofficially are, what exactly do you do with them after you swipe them?

I just got my first "set" of LGMHPC (Lime Green Mickey Head Paint Chips) from HD. I read somewhere on the boards if you soak them in water you can peel them off the back really easy! So I put my LGMHPC in a bowl of water and I forgot about it!:scared1: When I went to get it I was so scared I had ruined it!! (It had been in there almost a half hour!) When I looked in the water my LGMHPC was floating at the top and the backing had fallen to the bottom! All the paper was off and it was PERFECT! So I threw the rest of my LGMHPC in a larger bowl, covered them with water and waited an hour! Sure enough MHPC's at the top, backings at the bottom! SO EASY!! :cool1:

I soaked mine in lukewarm water for about 5 minutes and since I'm so impatient I peeled them off of the cardboard and rubbed the adhesive and leftover paper off the backs of them. I dried them with a towel and because they were curling up I placed them between papertowels and squished them flat underneath the last three Harry Potter books (they're big and thick and heavy). Left them overnight like that and they turned out perfectly flat.

I've only been reading the DIS boards for a couple of weeks, but it's obsessive and my bfriend thinks I'm whacky over these LGMHs!!

I got mine too.. just took about 1/2 the stack... they are going to be put to good use... at least I think so.. Even if they were for sale, I would still buy them. :)

Not sure what I am doing yet... the days are going fast... 17 days and counting at this point!

After having read this post, I rushed over to our local HD with my DS 11. I told him we were on a paint sample mission, I want to paint the kitchen, ahh, green!. (Now, mind you our WDW trip is still a secret for him, so I couldn't really tell him why....)
As we walked up, he began taking one of every color from the Behr display. The next thing I know, he has a stack of about 50 Behrs samples.... :rotfl2:
I said, "let's be sure and get some of the cool Disney ones too"... He proceeded to grab one of every color there too! "Ok buddy, time to hold it back a little....but make sure you get some of those lime green ones!"
In the end, we walked out with more paint samples then I could have ever hoped for...:lmao: No one stopped us or even looked at us funny. I called my DBro, who works in the paint dept in a HD outside of Chicago and asked him if anyone would ever care if we took the paint chips. He told me they could care less.... so.... GO FOR IT!

Now that I have a gazillion of these things...what do I do with them???
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Took a friend in to HD to help me...she didn't know why though...thought I was really going to paint.:rotfl: Had to confess in the car when she saw all the lim green ones I grabbed.
I was just going to cut them out...Thanks for the soaking idea.

I got a stack of em!!!

Think I need more though...

We peeled them off of the cardboard, put em back to back and laminated them together. Will hole punch and get those small ball chains with fastener at hobby lobby to affix to our luggage zippers, and well really every bag's zipper that we are taking.

Does anyone do anything differently to affix to your bags/packs, etc?

Need to see if Sharpie will be indellible on the laminate, or if I need to secondary laminate after writing on them.

The sharpie should be fine on top of the lamination, especially if you use black. If you make a mistake though, try using some nail polish remover on a q-tip to fix it.

Okay, I guess I was thinking I would put my S/N on it and then for DW/DS, put that on theirs under the S/N

So:

What about the chain connectors, thoughts?

To be honest... I have a whole hoarded collection of all colors of the Mickey Head samples. I walked right up to the woman that was manning the paint counter and told her I had a project going and how many samples could I take. She told me to knock myself out. So I did.... I'm going to use a lot of the other colors for a scrapbooking project.... and I love having all those pretty LGMH

i will be swipping my LGMH tomorrow after school since I will have some time finally have been trying to make time for 2 weeks now

but between work, school, and dd doing 3 activities its hard

can't wait even though our trip isn't until Dec
